  • went there today with my sister, I remember hearing about this place many years ago. We both had the lunch buffet which included the salad bar which was average, choice of 2 soups my sister had potato which she said was good not at all salty. I had the turkey rice which hardly had any turkey or rice just loads of vegetables which was rather tasteless. The hot buffet items were mashed potatoes with 4 different gravy selections (really) 2 versions of mac and cheese one breaded balls the other was just like mac and cheese (not bad) Turkey stew which was very unappetizing to the eye so I did not have any but my sister did she said it was ok. Mixed veg carrots and peas, small sausages cut up into 1 1/2 inch pieces, not bad. pot roast which was barely cooked as the meat was still red and full of fat. Pot roast is my favourite and the reason I chose the buffet but I did not have any. The chicken looked very white not much colour to the skin, and that was it for the $14.95 per person excluding pie and beverage. The total with tip was $45.00. I think this restaurant needs a new cook with some fresh ideas and not another gravy recipe. The best part of the meal was the cheese ball and crackers from the salad bar, and the pineapple was tasty.

  • We drove to St Jacobs yesterday, reminiscing about the great buffet of the Stone Crock and decided to eat there. What a let down. The salad bar was not remarkable, not even the third of itself (in the earlier day) the hot buffet was completely bland, even the chicken tasted like boiled chicken thrown on the grill to give it color. The pork schnitzel was so bland, it was unrecognizable. 2 items were okay, pasta with broccoli and cheese and the sausage. For desert, we ate the berry cobbler, good but less sugar and a squirt of lemon juice will improve the dish, as for the bread pudding, more than ordinary, mine is tastier. The service was extremely slow,I do not want to blame the staff only 2 waitstaff on a Friday at 4:30pm, no one at the front desk when we came in, we waited for sometime and decided to show your faces in the dining area, finally someone directed us to a table. If you have a sign saying "wait to be seated" please have somebody available to seat the customers. Now the worst for me, dishes which was not perfectly clean, that horrible sensation of little food particle adhering to the dishes coming out of the dishwasher, that was the case, last night. The coffee is still great. It was the last time we will go there for diner, we think that $50.00+ is to much for our experience.

  • My friend and I went here for breakfast. I ordered the breakfast special, which was pretty average. My friend ordered the French Toast, which she said wasn't very good at all. The bread was really thin. Coffee was your usual crap.

  • Order: scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, home fries, French Toast, coffee, milk

  • I've been here several times with good experiences. Over the labor day weekend I was there with my parents. The entire meal we were fighting flies off. It was not the odd fly, it was a fly every 15-30 seconds buzzing around that needed shooed away.
Asked for fly swatter, but they had none.
Seriously need to deal with this infestation.

  • 1. Rude waitresses (I mean attitude to many of approx. 50 people at our event
    2. Had to flag down to give drink orders and would try to rush off without asking rest of table if anything required.
    3. Bussed own tables - came to table once or perhaps twice throughout buffet evening to clear the odd dish.
    4. Buffet food infrequently/often not at all replenished. Tiny splintered pieces of bone in chicken hash (bbq chicken?) Poor selection at salad bar.
    5. Daughter slipped in huge puddle from over flowed poopy toilet in womens bathroom
    6. Supervisor offered standard apology (and nothing more) despite issues and being told we would not come back.
    7. Closed women's bathroom despite busy restaurant and our large event (50 people roughly half women) All had to share single "family bathroom"

  • Order: Buffet: bbq chicken, pot roast, potato salad, red cabbage, beets, macaroni salad, brocolli

  • I went there for lunch and to pick up some treats for later (a peach pie and some butter tarts). The food wasn't very good...far too salty. And the coffee was pretty lousy too. The treats, however, were excellent.

So, I recommend that you stick to buying baked goods and having them at home for dessert. Don't bother with lunch.

  • My husband and I went for the dinner buffet tonight. The selection isn't huge but the quality was great. The only thing we steered clear of were the cooked veggies which looked like frozen. Salad bar was great (can't beat their potato salad!) and the hot food was home cooked and very tasty. At $18.99 a person we thought it very good value especially as the delicious desserts were included. We left very full and happy and we will return!
