We showed up for dinner on a Saturday night around 6 pm for dinner. We were greeted by a very pleasant irish waitress. As we walked in, there was no one in the entire restaurant. Totally empty. We read in an advert in NIagara magazine that they serve arrosticini (lamb shish kebab) on the weekends so we went specifically to try them out. We ordered 20 arrositicini, porchetta panini (sandwich), 4 cheese indiviual pizza, 2 beers and a ginger ale. The waitress informed us that the arrosticini would take 15 minutes to grill as it had to be fired up. Well the arrostiicini arrived 1 HOUR later at 7 pm. They gave no explanantion or nothing. While my sister ate her meal we still did not get our meals, so we watched my sister eat. And looking around the restaurant there was still NO ONE there except us!!! We waited another 15 minutes and then we informed the waitress we did not want the rest of our meals since we were waiting way too long for a measly sandwich and pizza for 1 and 15 minutes. The waitress totally understood and informed them/kitchen we did not want the rest our meals and just wanted to leave. All of a sudden this young dark haired man dressed in a sweatshirt and jeans comes out of the kitchen and says to us "What's going on guys"? My sister explains that we have been waiting for over 1 hour for our meals and that we no longer wanted our meals and plus they served one meal while 2 of us just sat and watched. This young man went on to explain the wood oven took a while to heat up and gave a long explantion explaining why the food was not ready. We informed him that was not our problem and we just wanted to leave ( it was now around 7:30 pm and still no food). He then sent us the bill and charged us for the food we never received. We then had to talk to this young cocky kid and explain we were not going to pay for the food we never got and in good faith he should have at least comped us something for our agravation. He replied " Well you ate some of the food so you have to pay for it". My sister informed him that yes she ate her meal because she thought the rest of the party was going to get their food and they never did. But it would be in good faith that he accomodate us for our inconvenience and he replied "No". The waitress who is from Ireland was the only one who showed any customer service and good sense. Obviously the wrong people are running this restaurant which borders on being pretentious. One good thing is while we waited for the food that never arrived, we got to look at the menu and was amused to say the least that they would charge $2.75-$5.00 for a tiny tiny cup of coffee. In Italy they serve tiny cups of coffee so dont think you are going to get a starbucks or Tom Hortons size coffee.
My suggestion is go to Roman Cheese or Gepinos, or Zehrs and buy yourself italian coffee for $3.99 and save yourself from this horrible restaurant that is only selling you pretense with no customer service. - Order: arosticcini, porchetta panini, 4 cheese pizza, 2 beers
- The best cup of coffee in Niagara, easily...
