  • I have to say that the food is really good. It is really fresh and simple, which is the best way to serve the food. When you spend your hard earned money you want to go out and enjoy a nice meal and know your not getting something that has been re-heated from a microwave. At Fratelli's everything is fresh and made to order. I have been there many many times to only be met with the following. The only huge issue i had with Fratelli's is the service can be cold and kind of rude. The other issue is they don't take reservations, unless you are a party of 8 or over, or as i was so rudely told when i called there. We were told to take our chances and when we did show up we were told that the wait would be an hour. We gave our name to the gentleman and he didn't even bother to write it down. Even though i love the food there with the treatment we recieved i highly doubt i will be going back, which is sad.

  • My husband and I love Fratelli's. It is a small family owned restaurant that we take all of our friends to. We love the atmosphere and the way Sal and Matteo (the 2 brothers) run the place. We always have a great time, even in the wait line. It is worth the wait when you sit down and enjoy the hot well prepared home-style cooked meal. All of their dishes are the best Italian food I have ever tasted in an Italian restaurant. My favorite is Spaghetti aglio/olio con rappini.

  • Order: Bruschetta, spaghetti aglio/olio con rappini and the dessert pizza

  • I live 5 min away from Fratelli's, it is by far the best Italian joint in the area. They have the best food and amazing service.

It is a family run, old school pizzeria and the employee and the owners care unlike the chain food service companies.

  • Fratelli's is an open kitchen trattoria. Food is served Italian style: there are appetizers, salads, pasta plates etc, but unless you are early enough to get the limited 'specials' you are left eating pizza (not my favourite) or a large serving of one item.

When Sal is present, all complaints are forgotten. He makes you feel like you are his favourite customer and the restaurant was opened just to serve you, and that is why we return. When he is not there, you notice the price for the limited menu and the fact that you have to arrive uncomfortably early for dinner to get a seat, and when you do get a seat, you must finish your wine or cappuccino under the hungry stares of those waiting to get in.

I wish they would add a few items to the entrees, allowing me a little variety while my husband eats his pizza, and take reservations so that we don't look at the clock and say:" It's too late to go to Fratelli's, where should we eat?"

  • Order: wine, calamari, tomtato salad, risotto, penne vodka, pizza

  • After reading all the review I was expecting more. We arrived early to get a good table. Second people to arrive and still got stuck in a lousey table. I guess we are not regular enough! Our server definatly spent more time with customers he knew so service for us suffered. The food was just OK. Portions were tiny. If we go again it will be because it is close by and I would not go if it is busy.

  • Order: calamari, pizza, Veal special (But it wasn't)

  • LOVE IT. Love the owner. Love the pizza and the calzone even more. Best salad i've ever eaten, really, I think about it when I'm not there (the spinach salad). They welcome our kids. They shake our hands and serve us good, INEXPENSIVE wine. My only complaint is it is always a little too busy and, with two small kids, it is hard to wait so we go early (5:30 at the latest) weekdays and, by the time we leave, there isn't a table in the house.

  • Order: Calzone, Pizza(s), SPINACH SALAD, wine :-)

  • I have been to this restaurant several times. I have found it to be hit and miss. Sometimes good and sometimes very poor. My last meal in January was cold, the mashed was cold and the meat was very bland.

We went again last weekend to try again. I have never seen such poor service. It took a server 15 minutes to come and get a drink order. It took another 10 to get it. The food was at least hot this time but again there is not alot of flavour. I had to ask for pepper three times from three different staff members before it finally arrived. We ordered bruschetta and I can say it was the worst I have had. It was diced tomatoes with no salt, pepper, garlic or basil. Flavourless.

All in all this restaurant is busy because it is the only game in town. There are no other restaurants around. The menu has not changed in the 4 years I have lived there. They run out of the daily specials many of the times I have been there so really there is nothing much to eat once you have been there a few times.

This type of service and food would never survive in an area that had some competition.

Too bad since it is close to my home but I would suggest that if people took their money elsewhere the owner would get the idea and make some changes.

  • Order: pasta, veal, calamari, bruschetta

  • This place is scarborough' best kept secret! Truly a "Diamond in the rough". We feel as-if we are part of the familly every time we're here. Sal really helps us sit back and enjoy Itallian food for what it is. From the classic soundtrack playing in the background, to an espresso brewed to perfection.
Now, let's not forget about the food....what else can I say but AMAZING! Matteo and his team prove to us time and time again that love really is the secret ingredient they add to each dish!

  • Celebrated both of my sons' 30th birthday parties there. Food was exceptional, timely and delicious. Hospitality next to none--thanks Sal.
Brought own birthday cake each time and the staff were fantastic at setting it up and presenting it.
My favourite restaurant in the east end of town. Order out and have dinner there on a regular basis. Great to have this type of establishment in the neighbourhood.

  • Order: Soup of the day, seafood linguini, tiramisu and of course, wine.
