I visit this place every week at least once. The food is great. For a chinese place the prices are considered to be mid to high, however, the quality and service make up for it. But if you are used to eating at western family type restaurants, like baton rouge, alice fuzili, jack astors, etc. This place is a real bargain. Their dim sum is great too, one of the best finds in Richmond Hill. Most of the bargain chinese restaurants tend to offer food that are on the rustic side. This is refined cantonese dining, but this aspect may be lost on many westerners who are used to the China Town grub, and may not have the same discerning palate. Nonetheless, eating there will definitely improve your palate, and you will wonder how a place like the keg, shoeless joe and other similar places can charge $30 per person for the food they serve, and still be considered to be moderately priced.
- Order: I usually order some dim sum for lunch or some fresh sea food like crab, fish etc. For dinner, one can have shark fin or abalone. Their shark fin soup is one of the best in city, again, this could be lost on the western crowd. If you are eating seafood, it is not cheap, the quality is there though. If shark fin or seafood is not to your liking, they do have have some simple dishes that offer great taste and value, like szechuan aubergine flat noodles, dried vegetable with steamed aubergine, anchovies with To Fu in a hot pot, or three onions fried beef in a hot pot, and others. Just ask the Maitre D, he will recommend tons of good stuff.
