The Electric City Gardens

There are a lot of good restaurants in Peterborough, I was looking for a great one. I was very disappointed. We both had the bacon wrapped scallops as an app. It was undercooked. It just tasted like raw bacon. Even when I separated the bacon from the scallops in an attempt to save the scallops, the scallops still tasted fishy and undercooked. The lobster was baked and covered in a breading. This was not described on the menu and was disappointing. The taste of lobster should be evident in a dish and not buried, it was also tough. The bacon on the fillet minion was the same as on the scallops and was not cooked. The potatoes and vegetables tasted as if they had had a can of mushroom soup dumped on them. They tasted good but it was symbolic of a chef with no confidence. In the restaurants defence, we were asked by everyone there how the food was, I was unable to look the chef in the face and tell him the majority of what he put out was under done. The people are kind, the food is mediocre.

Intimate, comfortable atmosphere with very attentive, friendly service. It was like being invited to a friend's home for dinner except that our friends don't cook as well as Toby & Susie.

Perhaps one of the BEST restaurants PERIOD... and it puts Peterborough on the map.

This charming small Resto-Bistro has been in Peterborough for a long time.Upon entering we were engaged in a very friendly greeting by the waitstaff at the front door.The atmosphere was like being in a close friend's 1800's house ... only the colours seem like they are from New York City.The meal was flawless - the service very attentive - a great dinner.Definetly will going back!!!

Sue and Toby are friendly, passionate people and welcome you like into their home, but the professionalism is evident in the quality of food, wine and service. The decor is just fabulous; extravagant, elegant colours, fabrics and atmosphere. It's a small restaurant, so book ahead for a unique dining experience!
