Ritz Deli North

I really like this place, I take all my friends. The restaurant is small and I don't believe they have AC so beware in the summer or on a busy night.

The brisket and deaner salad is by far the best.. I've had some awesome waitresses/waiters and some not the best, but the atmosphere and food keeps me coming back.

Overall, really like this place.

The Ritz Deli is one of the better restaurants in the city. It's small and I've only been there for lunch but it is consistently excellent. The menu is pretty original and their sandwiches and soups are not boring. Every one has a nice twist and they are full of flavour and perfectly prepared. The portions and the pricing is right on. Really friendly, courteous service. They aren't afraid to play unique music which is a nice change from the elevator music at most restaurants.

One of the best surprises of this place is the coffee. I would say it is the best coffee in the city, and beats the george street coffee shops hands down.

Lived across the street of this place for 2 years until one day my roommate and i decided to go in for a drink.....and we've made it out place to go when hanging out with friends. The owner is great and the rest of the staff are the cream of the crop. Ordered the Nachos to share and its more than enough and you can order more chips free of charge until you use up all the dip or are full. The beer selection is top notch with special brews that get changed up what seems like daily so you always have something new to try.

and on a side note i'll be going there Tuesday night (May 18) for my friends Birthday Dinner.

Fantastic little restaurant. It's small so plan ahead and don't be in a rush. Soups are always creative and amazing, BBQ brisket is slow cooked and delicious, and the salads are great. Check out the Specials too.

And lastly, try the ESB. ESB is a CASK beer and is the only one available between Toronto and Ottawa. If you don't know what CASK beer is, research it and be prepared to enter a whole new wonderful world...

Visited the Ritz Deli for the first time yesterday for lunch (it's great that it's open 7 days/week) and both me and my dining partner loved it. The food was excellent (we could tell it had just been freshly prepared in the kitchen), the portions were very generous, and the prices were extremely reasonable. Our server was friendly but professional. I would recommend this restaurant to friends without hesitation, and I'll definitely be back in the near future.

I've been going to the Ritz Deli North at least twice a month, and have never been disappointed. Some days are busier than others so I would suggest an early or late lunch to avoid the rush. In this regard the Ritz could become a victim of their own success! I've found the food to be fresh and the choices interesting. I highly recommend trying the specials. There's a good selection of wine and beer and my waiter is always happy to describe any or all in detail. Service has always been very friendly and attentive. The decor is bright and colourful. The building itself has been nicely restored and is always spotless.

Unbelievable! So, our friend had invited us to this restaurant and no one had been there before. Someone had mentioned they thought it was small so our friend booked 10 seats for 8 people at 6:30 and my husband and I were arriving around 7:30 for desserts and a drink. WHOA! What happened when we arrived- we had the worst welcome ever in a restaurant. The Owner/Manager hardly even let us in the door when he said they were totally full (they were). We saw our friends and said we were meeting with them- but noticed there was no room so decided to ask if we could sit at the bar- we were told that was ok so took our seat at 2 of the 4 stools at the bar. After waiting 10 minutes to be asked whether we wanted anything the chef took our drink order-but then we were told by the owner/manager that we could not sit where we were as people were serving through that area (we moved to the other 2 stools- why have stools there??). THEN things got ugly. Our friend came up and told us that they had taken 2 seats away and they were waiting for them to bring them back to us. There was obviously some issue with the manager before our arrival but we were new to the restaurant and did not expect to be treated so poorly. The owner/manager then proceeded to yell at us (remember we had innocently arrived to have dessert and had agreed to sit at the bar) about not coming at 6:30!! THEN told US that it was our fault- and that he would have arranged the ENTIRE restaurant differently had he known about our LATE arrival. He then proceeded his rant amoungst the patrons present- at the top of his voice while we just sat there in AWE. My husband and I decided to leave. We have never done this and we are still in shock about how we were treated. This place may have EXCELLENT food but it is definitely not worth patronage because of such attitude. I am sorry the restaurant is so small it could not accomidate our group but we had not been there before and if that was the case we should have been told at the time our friend made the reservation. This place is the opposite of "hospitatlity" this sort of attitude should not be condoned in any situation. We were SHOCKED.
