My friend and I went on a Sunday around 1pm. There were 2 other tables with 2 people each. So it wasn't busy by any means. We both ordered an appetizer and an entree. We did not get our appetizers. When we asked about it she simply replied that she had forgotten. She did not look surprised at all though. Why is it that servers no longer write down orders? She had a notepad in her back pocket. Do they think they look more professional memorizing what you want? I'd rather they write it down, at least then your order will be correct. Also, after leaving us the bill she never returned to take the credit card. We had to go to the register to pay, where she was busy chattin it up with a young man.
This was my first time there so I would go again, but if it was the same level of service I think that would be the end of it.OH But the food was VERY GOOD! Turkey club and mediterranean salad!

The food was so great! Really yummy!!
The dessert was awesome, really huge portion!
Although i have to agree with someone who has posted that prices are NOT written on the special board so i would recommend asking your server.
Our server was alright nothing spectacular. - Order: Grilled Veggie Sandwich with Fries, Burger and Fries and chocolate caramel square

After reviewing the Special board, we both decided to get the fish & chips. Nothing on the board was priced higher that $9.99 and we never noticed that there wasn't a price for the fish & chips.
The food was ok, two small pieces of battered fish with a small quanity of fries. Somewhat greasy, but ok.
We both were extremely surprised to get our bill and see that the price for this special was $16.99/ each!!
We asked our server about the price (thinking possibly the $16.99 was for two). Needless to say, we both thought the lack of pricing on the Special Board "may" not have been an oversight, since all others items were marked.

Dropped in for a late lunch last week. We were really hungry for good wholesome fresh food and it did not disappoint! Appetizer platter was so generous we took some home to enjoy later that evening. The tomato soup was great - would also make a wonderful chunky pasta sauce. I make nasi goreng myself being of Dutch origin and this one was a good interpretation but not as authentic as what we are used to. I agree with another reviewer when they said that the chicken looked like tofu. Half of a fried banana and strips of plain omelette or a fried egg would make it more like the real thing in terms of garnish but the attempt was tasty! How about offering some sambal oelek with it the next time to increase the heat factor? The chicken spinach salad was fresh and the chicken nicely seasoned. We're actually heading out there again today for dinner. Great place, great service - will be back!
- Order: Vegetarian Platter, Tomato Garlic Soup, Nasi Goreng and Chicken Spinach Salad

After a long weekend of camping, we stopped on our way home to Toronto (and for some of us, the US) to get some dinner in Peterborough. Having never been there before, we were searching blind for our choice of diner. We selected the old stone because the server greeted us right outside the door and offered us a menu to examine, which was immediately impressive.
As three of us arrived before the remainder, there was some wait time before we could start eating, which our server was very patient with, even though we were holding the biggest table. She also checked back periodically to ensure we didn't want to start with an appetizer while waiting, also considerate.
Finally, with our entire party arrived, we ordered food which turned out to be some of the best we've experienced in a long time, if not ever. For myself, the tomato garlic soup was absolutely perfect, well made and well cooked, with a very flavourful content. The atmosphere was entertaining, with a variety of decorations to keep the interest during lulls in conversation, and the server was extremely friendly and engaging the entire time.
Although I live in upstate New York, I am positive I will be trekking out to Peterborough in the relatively near future to once again enjoy this excellent experience.
- Order: Tomato garlic soup, calamari, coconut shrimp, fish and chips, steak 8 oz, salad

I love going to the Olde Stone. Great atmosphere, very friendly and a good choice of whiskey for a reasonable price. I want to commend them on switching to compostable takeout containers made of bamboo (they charge you a bit for the higher cost but I say, right on!) and taking other waste-reduction measures like no straws in water. Combined with their great extremely-local beer and good food, this pub is a Peterborough treasure!
- Order: It was a little while ago but there was a salad, calamari, wings, and great whiskey

One of the best places downtown to dine. its clean, they make their food fresh and do a lot of "Home cooking". We loved the ambiance, it was so unique and had personality. we sat in a secluded 6 person booth and the server was with us only a few minutes late, acceptable due to the large group they had in the main room. They also have indoor seats, covered patio seats and a raised two person booth. The food was great, the appetizers where ones you would share with a group of 3 or 4, the meal servings are generous and the drinks are reasonably priced. It's also cool that if you head downstairs near the "mens loo" you can see some of the brewery. the fried or deep fried food was not greasy, and the super chocolate brownie was so chocolaty without being really sweet and came with a lovely scoop of french vanilla ice cream.
- Order: Started with Calamari, had Fish and Chips, shared chocolate brownie, all good and not greasy.

I had the nasi gorengo and the sauce was delicious. If only it had real pieces of chicken instead of this fake, almost tofu-like cubes, it would've been perfect. My friend didn't finish his tomato soup so I guess he didn't like it.
The service was ok, but our waiter always looked like his mind was somewhere else (and was always looking off somewhere else). I'm not expecting him to be perky or cheery, but at least pretend to act like you even care about your job!
On the good side, we ate on the patio which was really nice.
