Wasabi Japanese Restaurant

Immitation Japanese food? I think so. Horrible place. This restaurant should not be operating.
The waitress forgot our order so the food came to us 45 minutes later, cold! Not to mention that it's over-priced.

We ordered softshell crab and the waitress asked "Tonkatsu style or temputer style" WHAT IS THAT? can't they just deep fry it the proper way? It tasted like deep fried ROCKS, none the less.

The only thing that was actually decent were the drinks.

I do not recommend this restaurants for first timers-you will get the wrong impression of Japanese food!

This place should have gone out of business a long time ago... I eat sushi a lot. I mean about 5 > 6 times a week...

The main thing that got me about this place was the price, 22.95 for a chicken teriyaki bento box... I thought to myself, damn this must be good for that price, but no, it sucked. Everything about it sucked, the tempura batter was brown like it was cooked in old oil, the salad dressing was just not right, sushi was mush, chicken was way too salty, but the dumplings were 'ok'

In Toronto you can get the exact same thing for 8 dollars, I know Ottawa isn't Toronto but you can get the exact same thing here at --(and they include salmon with the chicken) for 10.95 and it tastes A LOT better.

The bottom line is if you want to spend a lot of money for really good sushi, go to -- at elgin & lisgar, that is by far the best sushi in town, order the kani sushi pizza, amazing.

Server was prompt. Restaurant clean and great atmosphere, warm and not too loud.

Sushi was fresh and tasty. Would go again.

I have been to this restaurant countless times...enough so, that the owners know us by name. This is a great restaurant. The decor is simple, yet elegant, Intimate, warm and a very friendly environment. Although you should make reservations for larger groups, it is easy to walk-in. Considering this restaurant is in the middle of the continent the food is always fresh because of the high turn over. Have a suggestion for your own dish, just tell your server...they will be more than happy to accomadate if they have the ingrediants. Many other restaurants of the sort in Ottawa WILL NOT accomadate special orders like this restaurant will. Excellent Alfred & Staff!!! See you again real soon.

Sushi is one of my favourite meals, but the sushi at Wasabi was hardly more appetizing than slugs. Besides the appalling taste and seemingly not fresh fish, the rolls were sloppy and falling apart before they arrived at our table. The service was friendly, but we were ignored most of the night. The only redeeming quality was the great atmosphere. However, it won't be enough to make us go there again.

I liked the atmosphere. I like the service. But the sushi could be compared to something served at a Chinese buffet. Likely not going there again.

While service is warm, the food is okay. I taste better at other Japanese restaurants in Ottawa. The food has way too much MSG. We felt soooo thirsty when we went home and had to keep drinking cold water.
