The Moon Dog Pub & Grill

I can't wait to visit again. The staff was incredibly friendly and made the whole experience worth while. Our waitress Xena brought beer out with perfect timing despite the busier mid-afternoon rush. She was incredibly considerate. The cook made the food in generous portions and you can tell it was fresh. None of the frozen home fries like other places serve. The nachos had sooo many toppings. Most places cheap out and you end up with a bunch of soggy chips and no toppings. We were having so much fun, we called up some friends to join us on the patio. They also loved their meal and will visit again. Hope the owner sees this review and realizes they have gold staff :)

The service was okay, but the owner or manager or whatever he is was quite annoying. He kept distrupting the meal by talking to us and it took forever for him to let us pay at the cash. Also, the washroom the facilities were not very clean down there. I also heard that the cook does not wash his hands regularly and it smells like cigarette smoke near the kitchen the back. The food was good and there was a large quantity, but due to unsanitary kitchen/cook conditions it was not worth it.

I agree with John Smithers. They do rip you off. Essentially they have a written menu price and an oral price. I still go there for convenience every now and then but I will never order breakfast after the special hours again. I also go there much less often because, like anyone, I HATE BEING RIPPED OFF!!

I have been a regular customer here for 2 years. I typically have their breakfast special: $4.75 between certain hours as advertised on the sandwich board out front. After these hours, the price for the breakfast is advertised as $1 more. However...the actual cost is $3.20 more. See for yourself. They advertise 2 different costs for the special: one on the sandwich board and one in the menu. I can't stand people who manipulate to rip people off so I will not be going back.

The Moon Dog Pub is a little known treat situated really close to the University of Ottawa. It is comparable to the higher priced F&S and offers better service during the daytime although it lacks the late-night atmosphere of the aforementioned restaurant. All in all I recommend attending the Moon Dog for cheap delicious food. You have to try it at least once.
