Whenever I'm in Ottawa I make sure to visit Nate's. You'll want the Little Nathan's special over the smoked meat sandwich because then you'll actually be able to make individual sandwiches with the bread they give small enough to fit into your mouth. And you can always ask for more bread.

The quality of the smoked meat is really good. I grew up in Montreal and I recommend this place. It's not quite like what you get back home (which is excellent but way fattier). This smoked meat is leaner. And unlike Schwartz's in Montreal you can actually sit and have space to breathe!

The coconut cream pie desert is to die for. Probably the best one I've tasted.

The decor is nothing special -- if anything the place is a bit dirty. The service is below average. You can wait a long time for your food and a long time to be seated. Still, the food makes it worth the visit.

Waitress ignored us. I have never been more rudely served in a restaurant. The restaurant was basically empty yet service non-existant. I ordered extra pickle and sausage which never arrived and the waitress never came back after bringing our plates so I couldn't even tell her. Smoked meat was grocery quality and the hamburger very greasy.
We finally grabbed (my son physically stopped another waitress with his hand after she ignored our attempt to get her attention 3 times) to ask for more water, she walked away and I heard he say to our waitress across the room "They want water". We never did get it. Horrible experience!

It's been my local restaurant for 20 years. The service is undeniably friendly and warm. A few members of the staff have even been there as long as I've been going. Don't go there if you want "fine dining" but it's far better than any greasy spoon you might encounter elsewhere.

I've been there with small and with large groups, busy and slow times, and all meals of the day, and I love it there!

Me and my friend were looking for a nice place to eat and someone told us this was the place to go...it was discusting. I rather drive threw a McDonalds then go here. I would never go back there unless i was starving

Very disappointed, The meat is "bas de gamme". I had the smoke meat sandwich. It is the same type of meat as what we find at a corner store. Please update your meat. Visit Schwartz on St-Laurent St. in Montr?al. That's real good Smoke Meat....
