Schooner Fish & Chips

Excellent, first time here and the fish was well cooked. Good prices too. Best of all, if you're looking for gluten free take out, this is the place. They offer all there fish as gluten free batter, as well as GF tartar sauce, gravy and cole slaw.

We always order the red cod and chips special - with a pop at lunch it comes to less than $6 and you get two thin but long pieces of fish and lots of chips. Our family of two adults and two teens only needs three orders and we still have leftovers. They double fry the potatoes so they're crisp. Very tasty stuff. The place has daily specials, for example Friday (two halibut, one fries and two pops for $15). Adrian (below) wants mushy peas so I'll put in a request for curry sauce which I have yet to find at any Oshawa fish and chips place but can get at the Waltzing Weasel. Sometimes we'll grab subs next door and add some chips here to go. Only suggestion would be the need here for proper seating and tables (only two and a Pac Man machine) for customers to eat at the restaurant (to grow the business) but without bathrooms that's kind of a moot point. They have a freezer full of homemade pies to take home if you need dessert.

Good service, good food, love this place, best fish and chips in town for sure, even with delivery chagre, better prices then most!! Totally recommended, I eat here at the least onces every few weeks!!

We usually get the special, red cod and chips, because we're on a budget. It's every bit as good as any of the other fish types, mildly flavored and not too flaky. I quite like the chips, the gravy is unfortunately powdered, and they don't serve mushy peas. C'mon, someone sell peas, already! The service is very pleasant, and there's usually a paper or two to read while you wait. We will be back, mainly because they are so close to home. I find it just as good as any of the other local fish and chip places, so don't be afraid to give them a try.

This is take-out only and we won't be ordering from here anymore. Fries had a greasy texture on my tongue and the roof of my mouth. Oil poured out of the boxes into the newspaper. This place has been around for years and I don't know why they can't get it right.....although the staff are very nice.
