The Queen's Head

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have a heart attack after eating those fish and chips.

The chips looked great, but I guess they mixed a fresh batch with an old one so 75% of them were cold.

It's been 2 years since I've been in and I miss the atmosphere and the banter. I was a regular since it opened and Friday night was the highlight of the week. Good mix of people, Scots, Irish, English and even Canadians!
Will be back in early 2009, can't wait to see all the "happy" faces.

there are much better pubs within walking distance of this one.

I went there on my lunch break, and was not impressed.

The Sheppards pie was very runny, and pretty poor in quality.

The female server was busy talking to patrons at the bar, instead of coming over and taking my order/asking me if everything was ok/giving me my bill. There was like 6 people in the place, 2 were actually eating, and she was at the bar talking. Thats poor service, and I can't stand it.

BUT, the decor was pretty cool.

Three friends and I, myself being English thoroughly enjoyed the food at the Queens Head, Everything was piping hot. Great but simple menu to choose from. I had the fish and Chips, My friend the curry we decided to share our dishes so we had the best of both worlds ( two lovely meals) the staff were very efficient and pleasant. It's good to see service with a smile and staff with a good sense of humour
Its a lovely big pub which reminds you of a back home pub.
Keep up the good work we will be back for more, we live in Toronto but well worth the drive

We miss Peter when we are there, the place seemed to run better with him while he tended bar. We like the atmosphere, it is not too loud, it is usually filled with families celebrating an occasion. We ask for 'crispier' fish and chips, with a side of curry sauce....We think there has been a change of chef or staff, or the chefs cook differently! some days the curry sauce is hotter or thicker or unfortunately, the last time, it seemed burnt from the bottom of the pan. The chips (fries) are done well as we like them.
It might seem silly to mention, but the walk to the restrooms is quite dark, a 'lighter' colour might improve things. Most of the servers have been very friendly and prompt with orders and beverages. Great value!

Second visit in 3 weeks and Its awesome. Great food, friendly staff, cold beer.

Pretty good pub atmosphere, very "pub-like" I guess.

The fish and chips weren't that great. I still prefer Caz's fish and chips, but perhaps the Queen's Head's other dishes are better.

The server we had didn't really have the best attitude. She was a bit short with both of us, but I guess you shouldn't really expect the greatest service in a pub in the suburbs.

I'd probably go back for a beer, and thats about it.

It's a shame that certain people trash a place they've been going to for years on the strength of one bad meal, and why would you order or drink UNKOWN BEER ?? That's just silly. Personally I've been going to The Queen's Head for years & love it. Judging by the size of the crowd waiting for tables last Friday night I don't think the previous reviewer will be missed, they're loss !
As for the guy with the missing carrots & Peas, that's just petty, I have eaten the Shepherds Pie at The Queen's and to be honest I can't remember if there were peas or carrots in it but I do remember it was good with lots of meat, the important ingredient. Also, I eat at The Queen's a couple of times a week for at least ten years & there is no steak on the menu, ever ! I think that guy was at another pub cos The Queen's Head don't serve steaks, at least not since I've been going there.....
This pub has not changed in years which is what I like about it, the other thing I like about this pub is, it feels real at a time where there are far too many fake pubs here and in the UK .....long may it continue.

We have been faithful to the Queens Head for years for family Birthdays, Christmas and/or New Years celebrations. Never a complaint. Last night, we were all totally disappointed in the quality of the fish, the chips were dreadful, salads were ok and where did those chicken fingers come from. Has there been a change in management/menu/staff? I think we'll go to Kings Arms now. Thanks for the good years.
