  • Food at this place will blow you away. We tried Samsa, Manty, Shashlyk (lamb on a charcoal grill), and Lagman. I would say that the first three dishes were simply outstanding though Lagman was OK.

I will definitely recommend this place to any person who appreciates Middle Asia cuisine (Uzbek, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Uighur).

Ask your waiter to put an authentic Uzbek music to complement the atmosphere.

    Restaurant interior is pretty ordinary.

  • Order: Samsa, Manty, Shashlyk, and Lagman.

  • It's not the real uzbeki restaurant. The owner claims that he lived in Tashkent. I know that he is not an Uzbek at all. The cook is not an Uzbek too. The food were far far from the original uzbeki taste. I heard that the restaurant belongs to one Jew family from Tashkent. The restaurant is very popular in Toronto in the Russian community. The service was good. I didn't find a real Uzbeki restaurant in Toronto.

  • Order: lagman, manty and etc

  • I took my boyfriend to Tashkent last night. Im originally from Tashkent and have been living in Canada for 10 years. I have not had the authentic cuisine for that long and let me tell you- Plov and Lamb Shashlik (Shishkabobs) were AMAZING! It was just like back home! The meat was SOOOOOO flavourful --its THE tastiest meat i've had in 10 years! Absolutely delicious! If you go, you gotta try the lamb Shashlik!
The service was really good too, the waitress brought food one by one in order, not all at ones, so we had time to eat the Plov, then Manti, and then Lamb Shashlik, and topped it off with a nice pot of green tea- as an Uzbek tradition.
The atmosphere was really good, there was a person who was playing live music and singing, familiar to me, songs from the past.
Next time we go we're definitely trying Samsa!

  • Order: Plov, Manti, Lamb Shashlik, Green tea

  • Originally I'm from NY. In NY we have a lot of these places but I can honestly say that it doesn't compare to this place because this is the "Tashkent."

From the moment you enter the place, you are treated like royalty. Everyone is very nice and courteous from the beginning up to the point that you leave.

When the food gets to the table, your mouth is already watering. You have people all around you eating all sorts of different dishes and they all smell great, and you just can't wait to try what you ordered.

That first bite that you take, is one of the best bites Toronto has to offer. I had some shish kabob, it was so terrific that I ordered almost every kind of meat they had afterward. With a party of four, everybody ordered different things, and overall there isn't one bad thing that I can say about this place. The appetizers were great too.

Their cuisine is a mix of Russian and Uzbek, Uzbek being the dominant.

For a nice meal for a great price, I would say this is the spot.

    PS: The manti are great

  • Order: shish kabob, manti, samsa, etc....

  • "Tashkent Restaurant " ?

You Have Got to be Kidding Me !!!

The Manti tasted So Bad. There was abslutely No Flavour. I almost thought it was'nt fully cooked. The Plov was'nt even a proper Plov. It was Too Oily. The fried eggplant dish is served cold in this restaurant. It would have tasted better if it were served Hot. The Bread was good, I liked it. Very similar to "Naan". The dessert was also good. It resembled "Rice Crispy Squares". The price was Higher than I expected based on my experience.

I'm Very disapointed. The restaurant is called "Tashkent Restaurant". Tashkent is the Capital city of Uzbekistan. Yet the staff can not speak a word of Uzbek. I even said "Rahmat" to our server. Rahmat in Uzbek means Thank you. She looked clueless. She did'nt understand what I said. This is an Uzbek restaurant being run by Russians. Trust me, as an Afghan, I know what Uzbek food Should taste like. Since a lot of our foods are Very Similar.

You want High Quality Mouth Watering Food? Go to "Bamiyan Kabob". I Guarantee you Will Fall in Love with the Food. Here, Manti is called Mantu and Plov is called Palaw.

    Good Eats and...Salaam !!!

Dont listen to this review, Manti was pretty good and the Plov was spectacular!
This restaurant is run by Russian speaking Uzbeks. I asked the waitress if they were from Uzbekistan and she said yes, then we had a chat about back home.
