Sandstone Grillhouse

This place is overrated. I had the worst tasting ribs ever, no flavor and the sauce was like a BBQ with tomato paste goo and the veggies were really over cooked and hard. Also heard other people at the next table complain how bad the food was. Not something i wanted to hear. Too bad the food was so awful, the wait staff are excellent and really friendly.

My wife & I had to try this place due to all the great reviews. We were NOT dissappointed! We shared the "Chef's Table", it was absolutlely PERFECT. I've been making gnocci for years and tried others but this homemade spinach version was fresh,very tasty,perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth.The roasted red pepper cream sauce complimented the dish very well.
Crisp salads,nicely seasoned & cooked meats,properly cooked pastas, this place should be everyone's staple.
We do plan on going back really soon!

My wife and I decided to give this local haunt a try after reading good reviews. yeah I know tourists guiding locals. Seems the reviews are not from locals.
I had a good time with my honey but the steaks are just not very good. The meat is average and sometimes even chewy. It is better than the keg naturally but not very good.

I went to the Sandstone because of the good reviews online. I was naive. We normally go to the KEG due to its consistent meals and thought we would try something new. I was extremely upset with the meal. We were promised zucchini, red peppers and carrots. Instead we got a few pieces of broccoli and a couple carrots. The mashed potatoes were good. Our calamari APP was decent; not overcooked which was great.

The problem came with the New York strip. It was cooked medium rare like i requested. The meat was covered in fat and was very hard to chew. Definitely not worth the price.

The service was great. In the end we were compensated with a desert and a free round of drinks. The desert was good but I think we are going to stick with the Keg.

This restaurant is between the tourist area and downtown so a lot of locals eat here. It's really nice inside and the staff are always very nice. This has become one of our favorite places to eat in the Falls. The food is always good except for the French fries, they're frozen, home cut fries would be perfect. We've had several dinners here and everything is always very very good and the prices are decent. Try the braised ribs for dinner - they are the best but not available at lunch. Salads are always fresh and tasty. Nice little patio for the summer months and plenty of free parking. We'll be back soon!

We had 2 orders of the Chef's Table and it was absolutly amazing!! It is the perfect dinner for 2 !!

Our waitress and the service she gave us was amazing. The owner came up to the table a few times to see how we were doing which was very nice. We never got to meet the chef, but all of us would like to shake his/her hand. Everything was cooked to perfection. The price is perfect for the amount of food and the qualitly of the food.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.

We chose this restaurant based on the reviews we read here. It did not disappoint. We ordered the Chef's Table whcih was a shared dinner of:
- Greek Salad: big, very fresh, and the best we have ever had
- Spinach Gnocchi in a red pepper and Chevre sauce: Terrific
- New York Strip with red wine jus: Tender, tasty, and perfectly cooked
- Chicken breast stuffed with riccota and roasted red pepper wrapped in proscuitto: Juicy, and very tasty
- Veggies: perfectly cooked
- Smashed potato: Nothing special but good none the less

The atmoshpere was what I would describe as upscale casual and the service was warm and friendly. They were also very quick (almost too fast, just enough time to finish courses but not enough to relax a bit between).

One tip...if looking for a romantic dinner come a bit early as they have entertainment that starts at 10pm. Good music but does not lend itself to a special dinner atmosphere.

One and only negative: We were seated near a fire door that lead to a nice patio that the staff used for their smoke breaks. I smoke but I still don't enjoy a view of staff on smoke breaks during a nice dinner. Plus they were leaving the door ajar so they could get back in which created a cold draft at our table.

We recently went to the Sandstone for our 3 year anniversary. At first, we enjoyed the pleasant maitre d'oeuvre and the cozy atmosphere. When were served our food we were simply amazed! Everything was very delicious. We would definately recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an enjoyable quiet sit-down meal.

Went to celebrate our wedding that took place earlier in the day. We have approx 30 people come with us. Everything was fantastic. They had set aside a nice area for us. Everyone was happy with there service, with the exception of one group...the waitress had an attitude. But the other servers ( I believe we had 3) were excellent. The food was fantastic. The only complaint, and a mild one at that, was that there was too much pepper on the fish. Out of 30 people, the worse complaint was too much pepper, and a waitress with an attitude. I would highly recommend!!! We would surely go back when in Niagara Falls!

We have been going to Sandstone for quite some time now on a regular basis as we work in the area. Also for birthday parties,special events or just for a drink. Its always the 1st choice we all can agree on.

The staff is amazing.. Very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The servers actually take time to talk to you and care what you have to say as I find with a lot of other restaurants the servers strickly want their tip and thats all. Always happy too..

The food is awesome.. Usually get the Greek Salad and Garlic Bread with Cheese but the Fish n Chips are great too..
When were with a birthday party the little things make a difference as for the owners bringing out a piece of cake.. They may not realize it but it means a lot when your not expecting it. And everyone appreciates it.. Little things like that make you7 realize that they care about who is at their establishment...
Overall Sandstone, the service, the food, atmosphere and family is amazing.. I cant think of anything negative to say nor would I want to.. Sandstone honestly, you have to check out..
