Horrible dining experience in all respects.
They had a smooth-talking guy outside with a big sign for $15 prime rib, but when you get inside they tell you that "they are all out". And when we left at the end of the meal, the sign was still up! I mean, even if they truly happened to run out of that dish just as we got there, any reputable restaurant would have at least taken down the sign. Instead, I believe they (being the shamsters they are) were using it as a gimmick to get people to come in and trap them.
The service was the worst I have ever experienced. The waiter basically ignored us, except for when he took the orders, and when the food arrived. I wanted another drink midway through my meal, and never had the chance to ask him for it. Even at the end, when he brought our bill, and I did ask for one, he forgot and never brought it to me. I was parched, and was forced to get a drink from a nearby convenience store afterwards.
The quality of food was reasonable, but hardly what I would call "fine dining". Lots of salt -- if you have high blood pressure, beware, you will have to triple your dose of hydrochlorothiazide after eating here.
In summary, this place is a huge scam. The only reason they are still in business is because they prey on unsuspecting first-timers (like me) and tourists who unfortunately don't know any better. My only hope is that after reading this review, they will know enough to avoid this restaurant AT ALL COSTS!

Worst service ever... we were initially accosted by an individual on the side of the road who wasn't in a uniform and said he would highly recommend us to try the prime rib special for $15. We get inside (some group members were uneasy) and we plop ourselves down at the bar to wait for our table. One of us orders a mixed drink and the bartender had no clue how to make it. She had to be taught. By us. Strike one.
We then proceeded to our table, where service proceeded to be abysmally slow. We were finally able to place our order, which didn't come for over an hour. And guess what -- the prime rib special that had been praised by the man outside was no longer available. When our food finally did arrive, they had screwed up a few of our orders and delayed the arrival of our drinks. One of us, dying of thirst, attempted in vain to get a glass of water. If he were suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperaldosteronism, the restaurant would have signed his death warrant. Strike two.
The food itself was extremely salty and poorly prepared. Other reviewers were bang on when they say that fast food joints have better food. The server made no attempt to apologize for the lack of good service and the owner even said that he hoped our visit was a good one. Their lack of compassion for us and laissez-faire attitude they exuded were the final nail on the coffin of Monticello. Strike three, and we were finally out the door, never to return again.

We were a party of 20 in for our parents 40th Anniversary. We are locals and we were recommended to have our function there. The best part of the meal was the anti-pasta which you'd have to be an idiot to screw up. The chicken breast that was served to us was basically a hockey puck. The service was fine, but not in the catagory of fine dining by all means. Women are usually served first in a fine dining restaurant. This place needs a interior make over, with the 1970's decor and awful food I can see why it is a tourist trap. I'm sick that we spent our money there and will be sure to stay far away in the future. As a local we like to support our various restaraunts in town, but this time it bit us in the butt!

great atmosphere, friendly staff, now to the bad part.
Both of us ordered the 10 0z steak, (hich btw is more there expensive than it sais on the online menu we read) with mash potatoes and bruschetta
The bruschetta was excellent but a very small portion, the steaks were served quickly and cooked perfectly, however the meat was of poor quality, the vegetables werer an odd accompnyment choice and the potato serving was very small. All in all nice place, very cozy but if we do return it will not be for a steak dinner. - Order: Dinner; 10 Oz steak, bruschetta

From these reviews it shows that nobody is perfect but my experience At Monticello's was excellent in all aspects. Maybe some of these people who write these reviews are liars and probably have never even ate there. you can tell the plates were well put together as soon as they came to the table. This is good and the price was right. We are locals and we always go there.

Drinks, and appetizers were acceptable.
The entre was a completely different story. We go out for dinner often, so I'm not being picky or anything.
Both plates seemed like they had just come out of the microwave.
The chicken was rubber like, maybe even plastic, topped with "Blue Lump Crab Sauce." Yeah, right. Disgusting. The veal, the menu describes it as milk fed veal!
Well, the meat layer seemed like it was composed of scraps. A thin layer of "cheese," maybe, and the breading was greasy. We did get a scoop of starch! A scoop, i kid you not of mashed potatoes. A scoop of ice cream would have surely been larger.
Oh, and for the sake of accuracy, my partner tasted the artichoke that came with the veal, and that was fine. So maybe that's why they get an overall rating of 3.We both feel sick, and after a $90 bill, I'm rightfully disappointed.
My advice, avoid this place. Happy dinning!

Totally crap.
Ive had better food at Mc Donalds.
Thet should hire a real chef not an imatator, Hes an insult to great chefs everywhere.
Re training or get out of the buisness.
Worst meat Ive ever had, must have been old cow.
Horrible service, not even close to fine dining.
Less attitude and more focus on service would have been nice.
will never return again and infact I will tell everyone I know.

Too bad there is no rating lower than 0. This place was a total sham, a total piece of crap pretending to be fine dining. Service was BRUTAL!!!!!Host not in uniform, looked like a hobo.
Had to ask for a wine list 3 times. Wife asked for a coctail menu, waiter said they did not have one. Given that, my wife asked of a martini, something fruity. Waiter says fine, returns with a chocolate martini....
Waiter wasnt able to bring the wine until we were half done the apps...just kept forgetting.
My wifes cajun calimari was no different than store bought breaded calimari, came with seafood dip (no sure where the "cajun" title comes from). Her veal was nothing more that really, really greasy snhnitzel. She ate about 20%, than pushed it away.
Im not sure exactly what cut of beef I was served....it tasted more like mom's roast beef than a AAA filet. Horrible. Lobster tail was ok.
If this pathetic excuse for a fine dining was in a normal city, it would not last. The only reason good people continue to get screwed by this place is because it doesnt need to rely on return customers, most diners are tourists who dont know any better. Don't eat here, not ever. - Order: Me:escargot, filet w/lobster wife: calamari/veal Coctails/wine

This was easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been too. Well worth visiting over again. The food was absolutely amazing...I have never tasted chicken that tender. The atmosphere was romantic and cozy. It wasn't too busy. The service was also great. We were greeted out front of the restaurant and explained the specials and menu as well as some background of the restaurant. Once inside, our server was attentive and very polite. Everything was absolutely perfect with our orders. We will definitely be going back for dinner again and will highly recommend this restaurant.
