We live in Port Colborne so we go to the falls quite often but we had never gone down to the main touristic area because everything down there is just too commercial and ridiculously overpriced. Anyway, we decided to have a little "tourist day" of our own this time so we're walking up and down clifton hill area and found this Chinese restaurant and decided to try it but it turns out to be a bad decision.
We ordered mixed seafood and shrimp fried rice. Mixed seafood has a fairly small portion for $15.99 and was tasteless. What's worst was fried rice. I really wanted to ask how they could possibly make fried rice taste so bad. I'm not Asian but even I can make better fried rice. lol - Order: mixed seafood and shrimp fried rice

After several days in Canada, we decided to get some Chinese food. We got in by viewing the promo advertised on the windows, but the price on the menu doesn't reflect the promotion. Initially, we were thinking about the combo meal, the waiter convinced us to go with individual dishes because it is more authentic. We fell into his suggestions, and regret for the rest of the night.
The food was horrible - even for Americans. A lot of people come in with tour guide only to order fried rice and soup.
If you are American/Canadian and looking for Asian food, find somewhere else. If you are Chinese/Asian, do yourself a favor - don't go there. They need a better chef whom knows how to cook Chinese. Oh by the way, rice costs $4 (canadian) for a family size.

The Food is so so but the atmosphere is vivid. The portion of the food is very much. Very hard to finish by one person. If you are one person, order only one dish, which must be enough.

After reading all the rave reviews, we thought we would try it. After the worst meal of my 70 years, Chinese or otherwise (and most of the Americas), we wondered if the original chef quit or retired. The food was so bland, it was as if it were boiled without seasoning. Even soy and hot sauce did not help. It made the food at an old folks home seem like gourmet. My husband thought my mother was the worst cook in the world; there is now a new winner of that dubious award The appetizers never arrived, so we feel we were lucky after all.

We were looking for authentic chinese cuisine in this over-touristic town and we were MORE THAN pleased with the result. Kids loved it.
Exactly what you expect to eat in a chinatown restaurant. Don't be fooled, they are "hidden" just close to the NEW YORK Chinese restaurant.

Too pricey for average food. Service is slow. If we had gotten a smile they would get 4 stars for atmosphere.

We have been going to the Lotus Garden for over 15 years now. It is without a doubt the BEST Chinese cuisine around! We drive 45 minutes and cross the border just to eat there, then drive home! Might sound crazy, but after you taste the won-ton soup (made with beef broth, not the yellow, oily chicken broth you may be used to), followed by an eggroll topped with the special homemade plum sauce, you too will be hooked!! Other must-try dishes are the dry garlic spare ribs, and the cantonese-style lo-mein. They also have combo dishes that are perfect if you can't decide. The service is always good and the food is always fresh and served quickly by the very friendly staff. This is the ONLY place we go to for Chinese food and we never leave hungry. Just a warning, though, you may not be able to eat anywhere else after you try it!!!

Great food, great service. It's so much better than all the commercial restaurants in the area. The first time I went there I was 9 years old and I fell in love with the place. I never forgot about it. I went back this weekend (I'm not 22) and it was just fantastic. Everyone MUST GO!
