Far East Chinese Restaurant

I have been a regular at this restaurant for the past 17 years and have always been more than happy with the food and service. The food is delicious and priced very fairly. The portions are huge and usually have enough to take home for the next day!! I recommend this restaurant to friends and family and they are always very pleased.
Since I've been dining at this restaurant for so many years I have gotten to know the staff. It is own by a very kind and generous family and the majority of the staff has been there for at least 7 years (a few for more than 25 years!!!!) I've learned that this establishment has been open for over 30 years which is amazing in the restaurant business!!!
I must correct the previous post because I know first hand that there are no "language barriers" at this restaurant. I'm pretty sure that I've met everyone there and my wife and I have had wonderful conversations with the staff and the family. And I'm not so sure that "orientals in the restaurant industry are trained not to smile too much"...that actually got a bit of a chuckle.
My only negative comment is that they should open earlier and close later.
In all honestly the food is amazing and has won many awards. I cannot say enough about this place, try it out if you've never been or if you have, I'm sure you've got your own delicious story to tell.

Far East is hit and miss, but fortunately (or unfortunately) they've hit the mark enough times to keep us coming back. You're not going to dislike this place so if you're reading this site you've expressed interest. You might as well go and judge your own visit at least once. In Niagara, you're not going to find many other Chinese restaurants for a cheap price. The food is often excellent -- we've got relatives who drive all the way from Welland to get take-out here and microwave it at home because they love it so much. The orange beef is particularly fantastic! Sweet, sour and hot-pepper spicy all wrapped into one, with a great crunchy batter texture.

Drawbacks? Ignore the "rude wait staff" comments. I would attribute this to language barriers more than anything. And orientals in the restaurant industry are trained not to smile too much! It is a sign of respect in their culture, not rudeness! We North Americans often forget this.

This restaurant is inexpensive, and offers both Canadian menu items (eg. fish and chips) and Chinese dishes. However, I should say if you are used to authentic Chinese food, you would probably have to request something in particular as that is not what is typically on the menu. The food is mostly Canadian-Chinese. The portions are very generous. I would like to see them add Hot and Sour soup to their soup menu and also some hotter (spicier) options in their single order (numbered) meals. The decor is very modest and both the interior and the exterior could use some beautification (ie. freshening up). There is a step at the front door that could be marked better for the number of older people that are in the restaurant and the walk out front is not always kept free of ice. That said, I would recommend this restaurant to people looking for casual dining. Our server, who I overheard speaking French to some customers, was very friendly.

The food was excellent. The portion size was generous and the price was right. It was fast, friendly and efficient service. We would definitely visit again.

This restaurant was recommend to me by friends. It was by far the best chinese food we have ever eaten. The waitresses were pleasant and friendly and the prices were very affordable.

The Far East was recommended by the front desk as a place where locals eat. I have traveled across Canada and must say that this is the best Chinese food I have had
The House Special Chicken was worth the trip to Niagara Falls and I can't wait to visit again!

We were visiting Niagara Falls from out of town and found this restaurant on the Internet. We chose this restaurant because it received the rating of 9.9 out of 10. After having dinner there, I must conclude that the ratings were either by the owner or by people who know nothing about Chinese food. (it is most likely by the owner)
The food at this restaurant is horrible!!! Don't waste your money there!!! Any fastfood joint is 10 times better!!!

I used to work at the Far East as a dishwasher, I've had some of the food they make, mainly chicken fried rice or a hamburger and I've seen the chefs make the food. Very good food and very skilled chefs. Some students at a local school claimed the chefs spit in the food, I'd like to disspell that rumour. I have seen the chefs first hand and they DO NOT spit in the food. It is a good quality chinese restaurant with good food and good people to work for.

Very Generous Servings, Food is prepared to order,IE:- If you want chicken fried rice without the chicken, just ask, They do not have large pans of food pre cooked and just waiting to be scooped out, Their fish and chips are lightly battered, and not to greasy, Their prices are very reasonable, Great take out service.
