Our dinner was included with our package at the Sterling Inn. We are very happy we did not have to pay for a sub-par dinner.
The restaurant is nice, like an upscale modern lounge. Our waiter was great, but left us with an overpriced bottle of wine that I found, tasted "off".
On the wine, it is ridiculously overpriced. The same wines at other restaurants were at a minimum, $10 less a bottle. Seeing as we had just come from Niagara On The Lake, we were especially familiar with the actual cost per bottle.
However, $50 for wine ($11.99 at the LCBO) was way better than the $9 they were charging per glass!
We ordered 3 courses. We found the menu to be quite pretentious, and not terribly appetizing in it's description of the food.
Our appetizers were edible, and not much more cold be said for them, although my flat iron steak was much, much better than my husbands raw beef dish.
I had the beef tenderloin for my main, and my husband had the lamb. In both dishes, the meat was cooked well, but everything else on the plate was lacking....a lot.
Desert was not good. The description sounded majestic, and what arrived was plain cheesecake with a glop of applesauce. Not so good.
The real kicker here, was after being ridiculously overcharged for our wine, the waiter was given an 18% tip automatically.
Not that the wasn't a good waiter, but I would have preferred the choice in what he received as a gratuity. - Order: Beef tenderloin, lamb sausage.

did expect this restaurant to be in the basement, but nicely decorated, very cool modern atmosphere. fluorescent lighting in bathroom and main area, giving it an "office" feel. due to the previous reviewer's grip about the wine, we ordered bottles instead! appetizers were delicious as were the main dishes; however, the sauce with the tenderloin was too salty, i believe the reduction was reduced a little too much. pasta portion was extremely small, as was the scallop dish.
- Order: salmon appy ($12), risotto appy ($11) , soup ($9) , tenderloin ($36), pasta ($22), lamb shank ($40?), scallops($28), wine ($50)
- Tiny-Tiny- amount of wine at an inflated price

I've got a gripe about AG ! If there was a competition for seeing who could serve the smallest amoungt of wine it a glass AG would win hands down or even a gold medal! We paid $9 for the tiniest amount of wine I've ever been served in any of the hundreds and hundreds of places I've ever eaten in in my travels around the world! Small would be an over generous word- miniscule would be better but hardly describes the trickle of wine that barely moistens the bottom of the glass- No I won't go back again!
