  • First time I'm ever inclined to write a restaurant review...and it's not a good one. Not good value at all, and the quality of the food is terrible. Lumpy, dry garlic mashed potatoes, very small portion of the healthier stuff like veggies, which included BEETS?? Who eats that? Bleh. Steak was overdone, ceasar salad had way too much dressing. Thankfully the service, the wine and the view were very good. Save money and your tastebuds and go to The Keg where the food is 100 times better for alot less $$.

  • This resturant is WAY too expensive for what it is worth. We ordered lamp chops (the cheapest meal we found so both my wife and I can share) for $36 ($46 after taxes + service charge). We got a BIG dish that had 4 small lamb chops, 4 asparagus, a small slice zucchini, less than 1/4 red pepper, and 20 french fries!!! We usually don't eat bread, but we had to eat all the bread that was served to make us full somehow!! At least they could have added more fries to make it a liitle big meal!!!

  • Worst dining experience. Don't ruin your trip. We called ahead to ask for a window. The waitress said we cant garantee that. I found that strange when we are calling hours in advance that is not something they can arrange. When we went we were seated at a non-window table, fine by me, I always like to ask and then be happy with what I get. I ordered tortelini pasta. No taste and without mushroom unlike the description. I could not eat more than a few mouthfulls it tasted like flour...for $ 28. We also ordered the steak. Waited for 45 minutes and got a steak which was cooked unevenly. so the first few mouthfulls were o.k and then there was just too much uncooked areas to handle. We were let down by the money that we spent and the lack of good food in this place. dont recommend to anyone. even if this food is free it is not worth that experience

  • My husband and I spent the Monday night of the Canada Day holiday at the Sheraton Fallsview. The package included a gift certificate to dinner & the breakfast buffet. After booking the get-away I tried to look for a menu on line for the Cut Above and came accross this review page. Needless to say I was a bit concerned as the reviews were either terrific or really, really terrible....nothing in between....... why was that? I have to think that sometime.....somewhere we all run into having a bad meal out and it is upsetting to spend a lot of money and not receive good food/service. This is the only reason why I think the Cut Above has received some bad reviews as for our dinner was EXCEPTIONAL and we would return again without any hesitation.

We had called ahead and asked for a window table - which we received. The view in itself was worth the price for dinner. We shared a Cesar Salad which was really good and more than enough for two people. We both ordered steak which came with your choice of potatoe/pasta and the vegy of the day. The steaks were fabulous - they were full of flavour and they were both cooked to our requested medium rare - medium. I would rate both the steaks better than the Keg - just as good as Napoleon's in Burlington - and way better than Ruth Chris (sorry.... we have eaten there twice and have found the steak to be chalky in flavour). The total of our bill including a bottle of wine (and less the $50.00 gift certificate) was $65.00. Priced in the same range as the Keg & Napoleons.....but with a much better view. The service was attentive but not intrusive.

I found it interesting that our server commented that he was pleased that my husband and I were enjoying an evening out for dinner. He stated that very few people come out to "dine" anymore. They just want to come in for a quick meal and head out to the Casino.

I would definetly recommend that you try this steakhouse if you have the opportunity.........but make sure you take the time to enjoy the whole evening. You won't be disappointed.

  • I had such high hopes for dinner at A Cut Above Steakhouse. My husband and I made reservations as soon as we got into town.

We got to the restaurant about 25 mins before our reservation time and were quickly seated. We waited about 5 minutes before our waitress came to the table. Odd since she had only two other tables one of which was paying their bill.

She took our drink order. We waited several more minutes for her to come back with them. The water that she gave me had a black bug in it. I nicely told her about it and requested a different water. She looked at it and said that she really didn't think that it was a bug, but black insulation that had come off from the ice machine. I'm not sure how that would be any better.

She brought back a new water, thankfully without a bug/insulation and a bread basket with butter. The bread was stale and the butter was cold and hard.

I was happy to see that they served my favorite soup, French Onion. I ordered that for an appetizer. It was extremely hot when it came. I was so disappointed to find out that it was tasteless. It tasted like water.

Our food came about 30 minutes later. We were surprised by the small portions of food. We each had 2 strips of red pepper, 3 baby asparagus stalks and 2 slices of yellow squash. There was also a small scoop of garlic mashed potatoes that had to come from a box.

My steak was good. I have had just as good at Lucky's and Outback Steakhouse, so nothing earth shattering there. My husbands prime rib was full of fat. He wasn't impressed at all.

We left $100 lighter and disappointed in the entire experience.

  • I defintely will come back if I visit in Naigara Falls. Not only it is in front of the Falls, the service and their best plate Certified Angus Beef is truly the best one. Although the price may be a bit more, but comparing to the other night when I ate at the Keg, this is defintely better overall.

  • The steaks were small and overcooked. The edges were burnt to a crisp.
The 12 oz. ribeye was maybee 7 oz. at the most.
The steaks were dry and had no taste.
    The vegetable (carrots) were raw.
The baked potato looked like it was baked the night before.
Nice view of the falls, but that's about it.

  • This place is awful. Below average in every catagory. Price is ridiculous as well.
Save yourself a couple of hundred dollars and go to the KEG instead.
Buns and butter are cold or frozen.
Steaks are salty and they wont get it right.
Your food comes out of the kitchen with this ridiculous plastic cover on it, youll think you were on an airplane.
The service staff were tacky nametags and very cheap and weathered attire.
    The PRICES ARE HUGE.
    The dessert menu is laughable.

Anyone who has been to a proper high end steak house (Ruth Chris in Toronto or Que de le Cheval in Montreal) would hate this place.

This is a very very average steakhouse with ridiculously high prices.

If your in the region try Blue Mermaid in St.Catharines or the KEG. Youll be glad you did.

  • HELLO!! This place is great! Out of all the hotel restaurants in Niagara this one is definitly unique, all you get at the other hotel restaurants is chain after chain after chain restaurant. They serve certified angus beef, and if I'm going to eat a steak it has to be a darn good steak and this was literally mouthwatering. I've eaten here before and I don't believe the poor reviews, this place is great. Not to mention the view and the awesome hotel it is located in. If you want a great steak this is where to go! They have a huge buffet too!
