Zee's Patio And Grill

In the past few years, we have visited Zee's several times and been pleased (as late as Thanksgiving 2008), but our most recent visit (july 2009) was so disastrous that we agreed we'll never go back.

Service was slow. My "fish and chips" had tasteless fish, with French fries that were ridiculously over-salted, almost to the point of being inedible. The other two people in our party ordered the pan-seared scallops. Too late, they realized that the scallops had not been properly cooked, and they were left feeling ill. (One of them had to run off and vomit before we left the restaurant.)

Desserts were heavily sweetened, but otherwise tasteless.

Our three-course dinner for three, including wine and coffee, came to over $200. I feel my money was wasted.

I will NOT be returning to Zee's.

The decor is great...but oddly enough, we were there to eat, not admire the chandeliers!

Our party of four was "celebrating" my sister-in-law's fifth anniversary, and I was embarrassed that I'd recommended the place to her and her husband.

It started going downhill when we made our reservation: the person on the phone sounded as though it were tenuous whether we would actually get in or not. In fact, the place was almost empty when we arrived for dinner at eight!

For starters, were told that there was no draft beer because someone had forgotten to order CO2 to operate the pumps. Major faux pas!! I live for a good imported beer when out on the town. Even if their equipment WERE working, the selection was terrible....except for ONE local micro product, Taps Orange Peel. (The waitress DID mysteriously arrive with a pint of Taps, [on the house, to SOMEONE's credit, halfway through the meal].....but I already had my pre dinner Long Island Ice Tea cocktail, AND my dinner wine in front of me by then......so the addition of the beer managed to make me look like a souse.)

Wine glasses were removed from our table before it was even established whether or not we were having wine with supper. WE WERE!

We must have had five to seven different waitstaff bring us everything from bread to cutlery (some of which was missing from our place-settings), and yet there were 10 minute stretches where there wasn't a waiter in sight to get a water refill.

My lamb tasted like the barnyard it was raised in, and my veggies were an indistinguishable slop, identical to that on my wife's plate. Her accompanying Gnocchi was puny and tasteless to boot.

My in-laws didn't complain, but I'm sure they were just being gracious. With a total bill exceeding $170 per couple (including a total of six cocktails, and only one shared bottle of wine) I'd have expected to come away raving about either the service, the portions, the taste.....or SOMETHING, but I couldn't think of a single redeeming factor.

My guess? Either NEW chef........or NO chef on duty that night. They may be able to produce a great hamburger, as one reviewer lauded earlier, but fine dining this wasn't.

My partner and I have recently moved to Niagara Falls and tried a whole lot of restaurantsout over this past weekend, Zee's being one of them on Saturday night! It was wonderful we both started of with the soup of the day Tomatoe soup, which was perfectly seasoned and presented. I then had the staek and my partner the salmon. The thing about this restaurant is everything was right. I am so happy that the manager/owner told me about this website and tripadvisor, so that I can tell you"foodys' what a wonderful experience we have had. Like I said it is not only the food but the people who work there seem genuin about liking to work there and loving what they are doing....you must go and try it for yourself, I will be back many of times, it's my new favorite place

My wife and I drove to the restaurant today for lunch from Hamilton, we do this every year to have the Burger!!!!That is just outstanding. Agian, this year you did not disappoint, it's a classic and no one can make it better. My wife also had the omelette that I had a taste of, the goatscheese along with the crab was just brilliant! As you can tell we love it here, see you next Fall.

We were there the other day, and thought it was just amazing.
The manager was very nice, the server was very knowledgeable and the food was outstanding.
We went to Niagara on not such a nice day, the weather was not great, but the hearty stew that was served made it a perfect fall day.
Totally loved it, you mustr go see for your self.

We had the Turkey dinner, it was amazing.
We sat out side on the patio under heat lamps which really do the trick. The service from Joe was great and everyone else was too. I am visiting from the UK, family, and was told to come here for dinner, I have not been dissappointed. If we are ever back in this area we will be back for sure.

I was at Zee's to celebrate my anniversary with my wife this evening, and just knew I have to let evryone know about it. Very busy place, difficult to get a table without reservations! But sooooo worth it. The food is a dream...service was great...the restaurant it self is not my favorite very modern, but then i can be old fashioned so I am told. But everything else was jsut great....I will for sure be back...and please do your self a favor and go to this restaurant, best food i have ever had in NOTL

Wow we had an amazing lunch and Stephanie the German Manager was amazing running around the restaurant, still being calm, and you could visually see how much she loves her job.
Service and food were amazing. my food was outstanding Chef great job! Waht a great place we will be back next year!!!!

Zee's was a favourite of ours for the last few summers, however after our last we will be unlikely to return. We were very disappointed by the service. It was not very busy, but we still had to wait almost 20 minutes after being seated to even get our wine order - and that was after our first 2 wine choices were not available! We had to ask for fresh pepper and again waited and even had dirty cutlery. Food was mediocre at best. This used to be a great place that we recommended to everyone - not anymore! Pull up your socks, Zee's!
