Review: We loved the atmosphere and service when we walked int the door. The food was what we expected for the price. Nicely presented. Some of the flavour combinations were a little ambitious over-powering the main ingredient. A bit pricy for everyday, we were celebrating our anniversary so we were quite pleased.

Review: This was our first time dining in niagara on the lake. Right when we walked in, we fell in love with the atmosphere. The restaurant was very cozy and had a great interior layout. Although we sat by the bar, the dining experience was great nonetheless. The service was excellent, the waitress we had was very honest and helpful. I had the pork loin dish and my partner had the steak and frites. I found my dish a little dry, but the steak and frites is definitely a go. For apps, we had the fois gras poutine which was excellent, along with fresh oysters. For desert we has the clafoutis (filled with goat cheese) which was delightful. I love how their menus change on a daily basis! Would definitely come back again!

Review: We live in Ithaca, New York and visit Niagara on the Lake a couple of times a year to attend Shaw Festival plays. The first time we ate at the Stone Road Grille they had just opened - about 5 years ago. Since then whenever we go to NOTL we go to the Stone Road Grille. It has always been a wonderful experience. Great selection of food and wine (thank heaven they offer only Canadian wine), beautifully presented, very reasonable prices, and excellent service. Last year they expanded the seating and it was even better. You can order an appetizer, or soup, salad and dessert - or - a full meal. We love the flexibility. Can't wait to go back.

Review: Pre-Shaw, we took friends here, as we are locals, and, even though have only had one superb lunch there before, we all were so impressed that our friends from elsewhere in Ontario are making reservations for next week, when they again attend the Shaw Festival with other folk.
Only cavil is that we would have liked a wider selection of entrees for those with restriced diets/allergies.
Prices are high, but the place is perfect, and so nicely hidden from all the regular tourist places.
- Order: one vegetarian, two lemony chicken, one four little pigs
- Fantastic - would drive to NOTL just to eat here again

Review: Stone Road Grille was recommended to me. I also read reviews, Toronto Life etc. So my expectations were high. We met the Chef, Ryan, at the Tawse Winery release event. We were able to sample the Kobe Beef Tartare and were very pleased.
The restaurant iteself is small and was very busy, Saturday night. That being said service was never wanting and was friendly. The chef did take the time to stop by our table, a very nice gesture.
We did take advantage of BYOW and that was handled very well. That being said I did review the wine list and there is a very good selection of wines by the glass and bottle. Niagara wine of course. The markup is very reasonable, compared to GTA restaurants where 200-300% markups are common place. My only concern, very minor one. I was told on the phone the corkage fee for local wine was $10 yet we were charged $20.
The food was excellent. The Chacouterie Plate appetizer is composed entirely of house made items. High lights were the bison braesola, the pickled ramps and pate.
The entrees were enjoyed by all. My entree, the '3 Little Pigs' was excellent. Braised pork with lentils, chops with wild asparagus and house made prosciutto with salad.
The sorbets were exceptional. The Coconut Tapioca was original and very enjoyable. The Cotton Candy was simple whimsical fun.
Suggestions I would offer: The signage is odd to say the least. They are not looking for the tourist walk ins that is for sure. The menu really needs greater detail. The dishes are creative and do have a lot to offer why not explain them in greater detail. The full wine list should really be available online along with the current menu.
We will go back.

Review: I expected much more after reading the favourable reviews on this site. Vegetables were hard and luke warm. Salmon left much to be desired. Lamb was adequate but way over priced.
Very small portions. You would definitely have room for dessert!
Desserts were okay.
Overall, nothing fantastic. I won't rush back given the choices available in the region. Consistency is obviously a problem here. - Order: Salmon and the lamb Sheherds pie

Review: I went to this restaurant based on the amazing reviews i saw online. I have to say, it didnt quite live up to its hype, but it was a nice meal.
Finding the restaurant was quite hilarious, as we kept passing by the intersection but all we saw was a plaza. It seems as though the 'other' name for the restaurant is 'Rest'? and thats how you enter in.
Our appetizer was AMAZING...poutine with fois gras!!! I just about died eating this well flavoured little dish. However, our appetizer turned out to be the highlight of the entire meal. I had the lamb 'shepards pie' which was...ok. I think it was a little undercooked and the vegetables were hard. As well, I think it could of used a little more flavour. My partner had the duck, which he described as well flavoured, but the portion was small.
Like I said, its a nice restaurant and the prices are ok compared to the fancy vineyard restaurants in the area, but I was slightly dissapointed to its reality after reading the great reviews about it online. The best part of this restaurant was definitley the service, our waiter was super friendly and attentive :)
