I was part of a large group with a set menu visiting Strewn Winery on a Saturday night. I was so impressed with the service and the quality of the food served that I feel compelled to write a comment. I participate in quite a few corporate outings and the food usually okay, but that's often about it. At Strewn, the food was served quickly, hot, and professionally. I was most impressed with the genuinely attentive service, and the desire to please each and every member of our group. Outstanding. A job well done -- thank you!
- Order: spinach salad, pork tenderloin, cheesecake

My husband and I took my mother to celebrate her birthday (on the recommendation from a friend) and were very happy with our experience. The service was excellent, as was the food. I thought the dining room was unique and reminded me of Provence. My only complaint would be that there was a group in when we were there, and it was a little loud.

La Cachette is at Strewn Winery. Strewn Winery has beautiful garden and very attractive Cooking School but the entrance lobby, tasting room, boutique and La Cachette restaurant are cold and unattractive. Too much empty space, too much tile floor and blank walls. Our server was excellent which set the right tone. However some of the food was awful. All four of us were served main courses that came with wild rice. The rice tasted of rubber and was very bitter and too chewy. The kitchen staff should have noticed that all four plates came back with the rice still on them. Three of us had wild leeks on our plates. They were tough, stringy and got stuck in our teeth. We spent the trip back to Toronto with tooth picks in our mouths. The chocolate cake was burnt on the bottom. So while this $9 dessert initially looked great and tasted great, when I started to eat the bottom, the burnt taste ruined the dessert. We are not complainers as we feel that once you do that, everyone becomes stressed and your good time is runined. We wrote an email to the restaurant a few days later to let them know we were unhappy. The response was polite and a brush off. A dinner that costs $320 for four people should not have these problems. If I was the restaurant, I would have sent us a complimentary bottle of wine and suggested that we return and have free desserts, or something to show good faith. They are clearly not interested in us as customers.

Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Our server was professional, but super friendly, which really added to our experience.
I know everyone was thrilled with the food, but I myself had the pate and the duck confit. I can't even describe how happy I was - I just didn't want it to end!
Great vegetables, wow, great everything. I really loved it. A perfect night!

After reading the latest reviews I have decided to choose this restaurant for my 'birthday' dinner which is soon at hand.
I am not deterred by the '1's given by two individuals. It is easy to see why their 'intended guests' did not show up. This person seems to be the type who is not happy with anything.
His review helped me choose this restaurant even though I have never had the pleasure of dining there yet.
I shall follow up with an actual review after this Friday, the 8th of February. (One thing appears a surety,,,,,we won't be sitting by these two reviewers)

Love this restaurant! I had the gnocchi made with lemon, which I thought sounded unusual. It was fabulous!!Really light and summery. My friends had the pork tenderloin and a beef special, and were also happy with their choices. Our waitress was really attentive, but lacked confidence. We found out later that she's has just started serving, so that explained it.
Yummy desserts. Loved the chocolate cake. - Order: Pasta, Pork, Beef, wine, dessert,

I'm really surprised by the last review, since our experience was completely different. Our server went over and above to make the evening a most memorable one, helped us select a great wine (we're not that familiar with Niagara wines). The smoked trout was delicious, and the duck confit among the best I've had (tender, crisp, not fatty as it sometimes is). We loved the room (particularly some of the art) and everything about the place! Only disappointment was that we couldn't get a table on the patio. Looking forward to a return visit.

I would have rated this restaurant with a slew of zeros but they are not available. The worst waitress. The presentation of food was worse than boy scout camp food. Beans and pieces of lamb in a BOWL!!! Day-old potatoes. Worst ever apple pastry (wet, tough, bland). Noisy, obnoxious patrons seated beside us. My partner recieved soup when salad was ordered. The waitress argued with us instead of swiftly remedying the situation. Our bread basket was never replenished. We were so glad our intended guests could not make it. We would have been soooo embarassed. Terrible. We won't be back. Over-priced. Worst-ever food.

We are tourists, and look different from other people. The hostess pretended to ignore us, until I have politely enquired about the reason why did the people behind us were seated first. Never before in my life I felt so low. My wife urged to leave, but decided stayes out of politeness.
The service was slow and the waitress had very off-handed manners. Food had not arrive hot, sauces are lumpy. Decor is very stark. Dirty floor and bathroom. - Order: French menu, hard to understand, no help from the waitress
