  • Have been going to the Spoon and Fork for over 4 years.

I have had Thai food all over and this place is the best.

Service can be slow when they are busy, but all and all it's ok.

Place is always spotless. Portions are generous and a fair value.

  • Order: Bangkok Chicken Pad Thai, Red, Green, Golden Curry

  • What can i say, I had previously went to the spoon and fork in Oakville so it was kind of a surprise that they did not have sushi and the whole all you can eat special, so on that note it was pretty inconsistent as to what to expect, but I can put that aside. The atmosphere and interior is great athough the sighn on the street says fine dining the food is far from what I'd expect at a fine dining restaurant.

I don't know if thai and vietnamese food is a trend and every restaurant that fits in that mold seems to all have the exact same food, taste and presentation-wise, and this is comparing it to other Thai restaurants not part of the spoon and fork restaurant franchise. The point is if your going to have a place thats fine dining have something to offer that other places wont, its not hard to deconstruct a dish and show some skill and care in the presentation of the food. Don't get me wrong the food is good but nothing that would get me excited about thai quisine it's basically the same thing you'd see in any thai themed restaurant with the exception of a few dishes. Attention was not paid to basic things like the small salads acompanying the apps, uncompossed and looked like the cook tossed topping in sequential order.

I had the duck curry which was a pleasant dish, the jackfruit, raisins and lyche was an interesting flavor pairing wiht the duck and went really great when paired with a cup of riesling, the wine was the typical green apple and lemon flavors with a mid-intense floral aroma and was great with the cury however I did find the duck to be a bit on the chewy side. I question the preparation meathods for the duck and am under the impression that more suitable cooking meathods can be employed in the dish. Another was the presentation for the main and the other mains the people with me had, the dishes where drowned with sauce I found myself witha soup bowl of cury sauce at the end as well as the people I was with. This brings me back to the whole "fine dining" sighn, any chef in a fine dining place would have a heart attack if he saw a plate like that go out. A certain level is expected when you have fine dining written on your sighn. Furthermore, so much leftover sauce that makes me question if the chef is aware of how much that ties into the food cost, the amount of sausce left over in the three plates alone makes me wonder how many plates like that came back the entire days service.

If your into generic Thai quisine or on a date night I suggest you check it out its not a bad place, although if your a foodie don't come with high expectations.

  • Order: Calimari, Soft Shell Crab, Chicken Satays, Rice paper roll, Curry Duck, Lobster tail and scallops, chicken curry, riesling wine

  • Friends took us to this restaurant. I was hesitant after reading the only review posted; however our experience was wonderful. The food was excellent, service was very accomodating, and it was a great experience overall; can't wait to go back. The prices are very reasonable.

  • Order: Pumpkin soup, orange cashew chicken, pad thai, sticky rice, wine

  • I have been taken to this restaurant several times and everytime I am equally, if not more, disappointed than the last. The service is awful, the food is less than impressive for the inflated prices for the smallest portions. The atmosphere might be the best part of the entire experience and that is not saying much because it is rather plain and does not feel very authentic. I would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone who is a fan of thai-vietnamese foods- you will be greatly disappointed. However, if you like bland, and often confusing mixes of spices this just may be your place!

  • Order: lemon chicken, spring rolls, basil beef, green curry, white wine
