  • Have been a customer of Jack Astor's (several locations) for at least 10 years. Garlic pan bread is awesome!

Love the nachos, pastas, and steak fajitas. Service is always friendly usually fast. The few times that service is anything less than fast, I have found that some part of the meal is removed from the bill; without us even having to ask.

Overall great attitude toward customer service.

  • Extremely busy location for dinner. Had to wait for quite some time. The table was family friendly with crayons for the children to draw on. The pasta i had was extremely cheesy which I found good for only the first half. Which made me dislike the pasta. Overall I found this place mediocre but is at a great location across Square One and the movie theater.

  • The food is generally good but i stress generally because on busy night (fridays, saturdays) they hurry and mess it up.

The waitresses are usually good and good looking but its a crap-shoot as to if you get great or mediocre service.

Worst case scenario your "well done" steak comes bloody, you send it back, a chunk of it is missing (yea), and still is bloody. Then you wait half an hour to get the bill (like its in my interest to pay for food i didnt like in the fir5st place).

That happened once in the 15 or so times i have been there, whilst mostly otherwise it has been okay with no complaints whatsoever. Just remember, dont take it out on the staff when its busy, bad things happen.

A good place to go out with the guys/girls once in a blue moon and have dinner/chat. For dinner in 2, go to a real restaurant.

  • This is actually for the location on Dundas near the 403/Oakville/Mississauga border -- I could not find it listed. There was 10 of us for dinner and although the food was pretty good, it occurred to me as I was looking at everyone's dish that there wasn't a single vegetable to be found on anyone's plate. I ordered the fish and chips which was $12 -- the first time I've never even been given some cole slaw. The exact same meal anywhere else would only be about $7 or $8 and would have come with at least a veggie or 2 on the plate. The small draft was $4.25 each. If they added some veggies or a side of something, reduce the price by a few bucks, I'd probably recommend this place and go back more frequently. I doubt I would go back if there's just a few of us looking for a place to eat. Mr. Greek across the street has really good fish and chips for $8.50 and it also comes with garlic bread and a small greek salad for that price. The prices they are asking for their pub-grub is expensive for the suburbs: these are prices I'd expect to pay for in downtown TO.

  • Order: 10 people for dinner. I had fish and chips and a few small draft beer.

  • We arrived at around 6:30pm and they informed us that it would be a 25-30 minute wait. So, we wait. And wait. And wait. People who had come in after us are getting seated.30 minutes pass by and we're starting to get antsy. We're dead hungry and we still had to go to a party after this so we wanted to eat sooner rather than later. 'Kay, so, we understand that it's a Friday night and it's busy and people have probably made reservations-- but seriously, did that trio who just came in ten minutes ago, hand in that vibrating thing? SERIOUSLY?! Finally, my friend, being the smart one of us, asks them "Hey, man, what's up?" Honestly, it's been 40 minutes. Apparently, our names were crossed off and someone was seated. Erm.. okay! They tell us they'll seat us as soon as possible. 10 minutes go by and I'm getting annoyed now, 50 minutes?! So, I tell them, "I don't mean to be a pain in the butt but how is it possible that there have been so many others seated before us." She replies, very snippy might I add, that she knows it SEEMS like people have gone ahead of us but really it's only because there are only couple’s seatings available. Finally, after a couple more minutes after that fantastic reply! We get a seat! Yay, right? Nope. We get led to the back where something went wrong, a party table was being seated and nothing was available so we get led back to the front then the hostess (?) talks to someone else and back we go and just as soon as we get back we're being led back to the front. Then back we go again where we have to stand and wait while our table is being ready. I understand, okay. I understand, restaurants can get messy and complicated, I do. I worked as a hostess. But seriously, I think the worst part was that they didn't even apologize until the third time we were led back there. I think I know enough that when you screw up you have to apologize to the customer profusely and at least TRY to make it up to them. I think I would have felt a lot better after the apology if my server stopped disappearing, if the food didn't come twenty minutes later [although, it was delicious], the dessert didn't come until ten minutes later [even though on the menu it said to order the apple pie with your meal so it's ready by the time you're done], and kept forgetting to bring my friend his drink every time [exactly two times, very considerate] she asked, "How's everything." as well as, she forgot to put the discount after I told her I had an SPC card because she had to go ask her manager for approval [that's never happened before but then again neither has the rest of the night]. You know, I just wish I got compensated! No one did anything to make this painful experience better. Needless to say, I want to understand but I don't and I spent the rest of the night explaining to my friend and everyone else why I was more than two hours late for her birthday. So... I don't think I'll be returning to Jack Astor's for a very long time.

  • They were amazing. I went with a bunch of friends for dinner and they were so nice to all of us. There was a mix up with the orders so I didn't get my food when everyone else did. The Manager came out and apologized many times, as well as the waitress, and as many times as I told them not to worry about it the kept on apologizing. My bill ended up being a little over $2 because they took care of my meal for me.
They were extremely friendly and respectful, especially for having to serve 7 teeneagers.
    Thank you Jack Astor's!

  • I've ordered the bowtie pasta many times; it's always delicious! The lunch order comes with a mini-pan bread - so good. The service is a bit slow, but the servers are fun and accomodating, and it's a laidback, goofy atmosphere. My friends and I meet up here all the time!

  • We sat in the bar and were still treated with respect. Our waitress whom we've had before, Laura, was efficient and dilligently served pretty much the whole bar section. The steaks were tasty and the cookie dessert with the bananas is magnifique. Sure it's not "fine dining", but pretty close, when you consider the professionalism of the staff and management.
