  • me and a bunch of my friends make a drive down to mississauga from waterloo which is about 30 to 40 minutes and the reason is because the food is just soo great. I find that at lunch the food doesnt come out as great at dinner when i guess the grill is on it's max. It's very busy in there but the service is not the greatest. they are lucky their food is really good, because the service could be improved on. I usually only deal with the one waitor, darol who is just great. the other waitors couldn't be bothered. One time we drove all the way down and apparnetly they dont take people int he dinninng after 9:30 and we said please we drove down from so far and they didn't care and the one indian server was really rude about it saying how he saw us runing from our cars and that we know it closes at 9:30 so we should know better. that is no way to speak to ur customers. I wish darol was there because he would have let us. anways we had to go eat somewehere else which really sucked.

  • Overall, I had a pretty good first experience at Eddie's.

We were seated right away and given glasses of water. Always good and appreciated.

I've eaten Hakka food before, but I'm not sure what all their terms mean "Manchurian", "Mongolian", "Szechuan", etc. All I can assume is that they're on the spicy side.

Although extensive, the menu wasn't descriptive at all so it was difficult for me to make my choice. I wished there were pictures, brief ingredients listed 'cause we had to ask the waiter of the contents.

After shortlisting, the waiter recommended the Manchurian Chow Mein with shrimp/chicken ($9.25). It was similar to a more savoury version of what you can find at a Chinese diner. I enjoyed the flavour, although the next day, the taste somehow dulled a bit.

There were quite a few Indian clientele and the restaurant was quite packed for a Wednesday evening. This is always a good sign!

If I was in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Perhaps trying something completely different.

  • After many recommendations from friends and family, we visited this place yesterday and though the food was great but the service disappointed us. The waiters took forever to take our order and return with the food. And to top it , I left my bag in the restaurant. I called them at 10:00 pm and I explained that how my wallet and keys to my house and car were in the bag and that if they could be there fir another 10 minutes as I was on my way back but the response startled me. The person on the phone replied that they all have to leave and if it would be okay with me that they left my bag outside the restaurant. After a while of explanations, pleases and what not I convinced him not to leave my bag outside and just be there for 5 more minutes as I was almost there but Noooo... When I did reach there, nobody was in sight. The restaurant was locked and my bag was no-where to be found. After spending the night at a friend's house, I returned there in the morning and got my bag. The waiters were hardly bothered about the ordeal I went through and just shrugged the matter off. I must say that the service was ABYSMAL. I am highly disappointed and if I ever go there again there's no tip for them!

  • We recently visited this restaurant on Saturday night, it was really busy, had to wait for about 20 minutes, but was worth it. We had the best chinese food ever, even my daugter who is a picky eater loved the food. I would definetly come back to bring more family/friends.

We were there on Sunday Night and the restaurent was full.Had to wait abit . Food came out quickly. For a desi restaurent service was too good. Will definately go back.

  • After spending most of a too-long afternoon in Credit Valley Hospital for medical investigations, we were tired and decided to treat ourselves to a Chinese meal. Unfortunately our usual spot, the Mandarin, is closed for a while so we thought we would give someone nearby a try. Eddie's was our first choice as the last time we had headed here for lunch the restaurant was full and closed to new customers, a very good indicator.
The restaurant is pleasantly decorated and sparking clean with cheerful, attentive employees who speak English perfectly.
We are also very sympathetic to this restaurant because of the blatantly dishonest review posted here by "Smith" who is obviously dishonestly shilling for a new place nearby that apparently needs to defame its competition rather than earning business honestly with delicious food and attentive service, something they are clearly not doing in my opinion.
Unfortunately, we are unfamiliar with Hakka Chinese cuisine. Also, we are likely just to accustom to Mandarin's consistent high quality and value for money. This resulted in our ordering some items that were not at all what we expected. Dinner started out well with a light chicken broth that was not a bit too salty with ample tasty won tons. The Shrimp Spring Rolls were quite adequate, but without any particularly special flavor, pretty much like most other spring rolls. We had expected something a little different at a restaurant that advertises itself as a Hakka Chinese and Thai restaurant.
Well, we didn't hold onto that thought for long. The Cashew Chicken was fiercely spicy as it was loaded with whole chili peppers. What a surprise in what is usually a fairly innocuous menu item in all our experiences elsewhere. There didn't seem to be much chicken in the dish, but quite a bit of boring vegetables, some cashews and those killer peppers which we picked out before trying a few more bites before giving up on it.
The Beef with Broccoli the best item. The large slices of beef were exceptionally tender and there was ample pieces of broccoli along with long slices of carrots in a lot of gently seasoned sauce, lacking any depth of flavor, but certainly inoffensive.
In ordering the Special Chop Suey we were given the choice of having it with either garlic or tomato along with a choice of two proteins. I chose the tomato option as we would likely have some garlic in the other dishes, along with shrimp and chicken. At a relatively very high price of $11.45 we thought it would be something very special. Wrong. It was a dish of mainly onions and bean sprouts with a few tiny shrimp and one slice of white meat awash in a thick, sweet red sauce, presumably some tomato, with no particular flavor to distinguish it other than sweetness. "Special" might refer to the significant profit margin on this item. The House Fried Rice was a competently prepared dish of no particular distinction other than the huge size of the order, making the steamed rice provided quite redundant.
So, should we return to Eddie's, we will be sure to seek advice before ordering, and perhaps try some of the speciality menu items that we had not observed before ordering. They look interesting and maybe they will be a better value than the disappointing items we ordered. Perhaps they will have some of the assertive flavor notes of ginger, garlic, cooking wine and toasted sesame oil that puts some oomph in Chinese cuisine.
In view of the unfair, if not illegal, business tactics he is being subjected to. Eddie deserves special consideration by our community.

  • We ordered for the food and it took 20 mins for the food to be served when we just have an hr for our lunch. That was not only the case the waiter served the wrong food to us and then took another 15 mins wait for the food to be on our table. When asked why the food was late there were no explanation from the waiter, we were simply being ignored. It was a total disappointment when we left the place. The food was ok but the service was a total disappointment. Dont think of my colleagues willl ever want to come back to this place. We have tried another "wok n roll"down the street which was very satisfying.

  • This is our second time at Eddie's. We drive in from Waterloo, battle the Friday traffic on the 401 just to eat here so it must be pretty good. Service was excellent, although they were very busy. Our server made the recommendations for all our food choices and they were all delicious. We would certianly eat here more frequently if we lived closer. We even recommended to the manager to open one up in KW!

  • I go to Eddies Wok N' Roll at least 5-6 times a month, I've been doing this fore more than a year. Every time I dine-in or take out I am amazed! The food and service is always superb, portions are huge. There's nothing I've tried which I did not enjoy. I have even catered from Eddies 4 different times, never was any of my guest disappointed and I've always been praised for suggesting this restaurant. This is the best Hakka food in Mississauga, and maybe even Canada. I would eat from Eddies every day if I could.
