  • I had my daughters party at the Barbizon's last year and it was amazing so we returned for my son's party on March 31/08 and was just as good. We have been there for dinner before and was awsome. We had a party of around 45 people for both parties..the service was fabulous and the staff was wonderful. Everyone in my party said it was wonderful, everyone was pleased with what they had ordered. We all had a different meals. Some were Chicken with veggies, rice the chicken just melted in your mouth. New York Sirloin, salmon, pasta and I could just go on and on. It was wonderful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Check it out for yourself. 2 thumbs up.

  • Order: Chicken, salmon, New York Sirloin, pasta, drinks were all kinds.

  • the restaurant is well hidden right at the south west intersection of hurontario and eglinton in mississauga. It is right next to the scotiabank ofice. The restaurant is an old renovated house. My fiancée and I have been talking about going there one day for a long time. It is located at a 2 minutes walking distance from my condo building, which makes for a very romantic stroll there.

The lighting was not so good as when you enter it is not properly lit. The worst was the welcome. After having waited 10 minutes for someone to seat us, my fiancée wandered around the house to find somebody. She finally found someone upstairs and the garçon finally answered after calling out for him 3 times. He seemed to seat us in a rush and then dissappeared. We got water 15 minutes later along with the menus. The Onion Soup was wonderful! the speed is good to bring the food out, however an incident occured when we asked the waiter to confirm if they used a vinegar base in the soup as it was quite sour (in a good way). We could hear the waiter shouting at the cooks and asking them if it came with a vinegar base or with wine only.
The food was excellent - aside from being a little on the expensive side (I know it is supposed to be expensive as it is a french restaurant - I am french) but still a little expensive...
a glass of inniskilin ice wine was 18 dollars!!! while as you can buy the bottle that serves at least 4 glasses for 25 dollars! talk about mark up. The dessert was really excellent - the cheese cake was succulent. A final negative note : when I gave the waiter the money, he assumed that it was all for him and when I told him that I needed the change back (which was pretty substancial) he looked dissapointed.
Overall: the restaurant scored a 60%, 20% for the service and 100% for the food (quality, originality and taste).
I would only consider going there again if it is with a larger group of people.
    Good luck!

  • This is Mississauga's best kept secret! A lovely experience. I have been here twice before and each time it gets better. There were four in our party and so we were able to try a number of items from the menu. I had the mussels to start. They are amazing! They are no longer on the menu but when I asked about them the chef offered to make them again just for me. We also had the brie in pastry. Very nice taste and the wine (from the ample wine list) complimented it very nice. I had the seafood marinara for my main course and it was delicious. Finally for dessert we had the chocolate cake - very decadent! Great service too. On a previous visit we went to the Martini bar upstairs before our meal and it was a wonderful addition to our evening. This restaurant rivals any in downtown Toronto for the food and service!

  • Order: Appetizers were excellent. Wine list is very large and very reasonable for a restaurant! Mussels in a rose sauce with garlic and tomato pieces, baked brie and spring rolls for our appetizers. Seafood marinara with shrimp, salmon, and scallops. Just perfect for our main course. Apple martini for a drink. Irish creme coffe for dessert with the chocolate cake - to die for. (but it is not called chocolate cake)

  • Barbizon treated my family and I to perhaps the tastiest meal we have ever had. The flavours that complemented the main foods were exquisite. My 13 year old son ordered the Bison steak, just to be different, but found it to be too "gamey" and therefore I finished it for him. I am more used to game, and enjoyed every bite. He took over my Beef Tenderloin, and devoured it. My wife had the grilled Snapper, and enjoyed it immensely. The crab cake appetizers were tasty, but small in size. Two crab cakes cost $12, and I expected more. My 3 year old daughter nibbled on bits and pieces of our meals, but had a side order of fries (that were not on the menu, but provided for her when she was asked to order). The ambience is cozy, and the service was better than I expected, as I had read earlier reviews that had some concerns. I met the owner, and had a pleasant conversation with him and his plans with the restaurant. Overall it was an enjoyable dinner. Be prepared to pay for the dining experience, as the prices were considerably high, keeping in mind that the restaurant is in Mississauga.

  • Order: Bison, beef tenderloin, red snapper, chilean wine, crab cakes.

  • Barbizon maybe Mississauga's best kept secret!! What brought us to the Restaurant was that my daughter noticed a little house on the Southwest corner of Eglington and Hwy 10 that from the outside seemed to exude a sense of mystery. Large Candles in the windows glowed in the evening and those same windows would let the afternoon sun or evening sunset in. Crisp white linen and glass on the tables shimmered in the soft light...
Stepping inside reveals a modern dining room with a touch of old that makes you feel truly welcome and comfortable. We were greeted by friendly helpful staff and seated promptly.

Wanting to linger and enjoy the evening, we ordered cocktails. Then about 30 minutes later appetizers. The true measure of a kitchen and the Master is the ability to adapt. My daughter preferred a white wine and garlic accompaniment with her mussels as opposed to the marinara sauce offered on the menu. Chef willingly obliged our request and this put a smile on everyone's face!
Then we ordered a vintage 2000 St. Emilion from the ample wine list which complimented both of our main course choices. My medium rare Grilled Bison Fillet was cooked to perfection, tender, juicy and full flavored. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the rich unique melding of her prawns and pork tenderloin. Both of our vegetable medly's were delicious and the variety of colour taste and texture was perfect. I particularly enjoyed the caramelized yam slices with my Bison.

For dessert we shared the Baked Alaska, which was devine.

After dinner we wondered throught-out the building and found several areas that could be adapted to various dining needs!
I would rate our Overall Experience as Excellent!

    Thanks for a Terrific Evening
