After switching owners for the 3rd time, the restaurant is now focusing on Japanese & Korean cuisine.
I was a bit weary to visit again due to the changes, but I thought that I'd give it a shot.
The menu is new. Very similar offerings to Sushi Tei with similar prices as well. However, I would say that the main difference is that After Rain no longer offers Korean side dishes - which I miss! Unlike Sushi Tei, there's no complimentary green tea ice cream after the meal, only sliced orange.
The sushi was pretty fresh with a good variety of cuts including Butter Fish, Tuna, Salmon, White Fish, Shrimp, & others that I can't name. I was quite happy to see the Butter Fish and Tuna though 'cause I seldom see those in smaller sushi dishes! For 6 pieces of California Roll + 9 various sushi was $13.95.
The Hot Pot Rice ($8.99) is also known as Bim Bim Bap. The rice was burned on the bottom, so my bf left that. Not sure if this is more "authentic" or not, but it tasted good to me.
Hopefully these owners will stay in order to create a customer base!

Recently, After Rain has acquired new owners. First hints included new signage, shifting the original focus from "Asian Fusion" --> "Japanese" restaurant.
I decided to stop for lunch to see if there were any noticeable differences. And there definitely was, especially in the service.
A hostess half-heartedly greeted us, then escorted us as far as a computer terminal. I was quite confused. And ultimately, a waitress picked up the slack, seating us.
Service seemed to be timely in terms of taking our initial order. Miso soup + salad followed promptly after. (No side dishes were included!) However, after those appetizers, it was at least 15-20 minutes before our mains arrived.
Along with the ownership, the menu was also different, offering sushi+shashimi and other Japanese items. However, there were little to no pictures, so it would be difficult for unseasoned sushi eaters to order. Also, there was no a la carte options.
My bf's main arrived at least 5-10 minutes before mine. Serving patrons at different times, with such a time gap in-between, is a bit odd.
Aside from the waiting time, I have no complaints about the food.
While I was eating, I observed a bit of a kerfuffle at the computer terminal with a few waitresses gathered around. It appeared as though only a couple of them were trained to operate the system which included printing out the bills.
At one point, a couple of patrons even stood behind them, asking for their bill &/or their bill to be corrected. One man asked twice for his bill and his waitress had to elicit assistance from another waitress.
Overall, the staff seemed quite "green". Our tea was never refilled. And the staff just seemed untrained, scattered, & disorganised.
It took quite some time for the waitress to bring our bill. And when it came, we were charged for the regular price - as opposed to the lunch special price.
It was promptly corrected after we pointed out the error.
Although the interior hasn't changed, other things like service definitely has. Because of this, I'm not sure if I'll be back!

Great place, great food, great service.
They served us complimentary stuff that itself could have been two separate orders.
Ambiance is excellent, good decor.

A very nice looking dining room. Food is very good however the service can be hit or miss depending on who is serving you. Takeout portions are a bit small and food tastes a bit too sweet with certain dishes.

We have visited this place numerous times and have never come dissapointed. Remember this is a fusion cuisine place so the dishes might not be exactly authentic but the Chef does a great job improvising. Occasionally they throw an extra dish on the house which is always a great suprice.

I ordered the Tom Yum soup noodles with seafood. It costs $11.99 which is not a bad price if I got the real thing. It was the first Tom Yum soup I had that did not have any lemongrass or lime in it. It tastes EXACTLY the same as any Spicy Seafood Udon you can get for $7.99 at Korean restarurants (same broth, same udon noodles, same seafood). Very disappointed.
However, the curry dish was good. Service was also good. Decor and atmosphere are suitable for dates. - Order: Green chicken curry and the so-called Tom Yum noodle soup with seafood

My Pad Thai tasted bland: it was tasteless. I like their service though, but I feel that it's a shame that the food does not match it's service. The salads offered in the beginning of every meal was a nice touch, but I don't think the main dishes are worth their price. I can tell they haven't put much passion in cooking them. The decor was OK though.

I had seen After Rain numerous times and wanted to go, but never officially made plans to go there. One day I was driving around looking for a place to eat and decided to finally try it after my friend recommended it a couple days ago. When I first went inside the interior was so nice and classy that I thought the food would be super expensive. I was thinking if anything I would order something small or just leave once I saw the prices. To my surprise, the prices were very decent. The place wasn't packed, but it wasn't empty either.
As for the food, I enjoyed it thoroughly. The presentation of all dishes was intriguing. The drinks were good; just enough rum to taste a hint of it and not to be overwhelmed by it. The fried shrimp roll was delicious and I am still craving more of it! The general tao chicken was as very delicious, though not spicy at all. The pad thai was also great.
My only complaint would be that the main dishes took longer to get to the table then I expected. However, the appetizer and drinks arrived promptly. We were both just very hungry and wanted our food fast!
Overall, I liked this restaurant so much that I cannot wait to go back and try another dish. I have been telling all my friends about it and I hope they stay in business for a long time! - Order: Thai general tao chicken, seafood pad thai, fried shrimp roll, pina coloda, and strawberry daiquiri
- Prices aren't as intimidating as the atmosphere!

Noticing this new restaurant on several visits to T&T, I've always wanted to try it.
A friend and I finally showed up today for an early dinner. There wasn't a hostess to greet us right away, no menus posted, and the wine glasses on the tables made us nervous!
The restaurant is very nicely decorated with reception area, water fountain, dark wood trim, chandeliers, & booths lined in deep red, pin cushioned, padded velvet.
What did I get us into? I just wanted to grab something to eat and not sit down to fine dining!
Once the waitress greeted us, I asked to see the menu - using my vegetarian friend as a reason.
Surprisingly, the prices DO NOT match the decor at all! Vegetarian red curry was $8.95 and my dish was $9.95.
So the prices are completely comparable to other Asian/Thai restaurants in the city.
Both dishes arrived superbly decorated. I asked the waitress about the chef and she said that there are 3: 1 Thai, 1 Korean, & 1 Chinese.
Even though I was with a friend, I thought to myself that this would be a GREAT date place!
It wasn't very busy when we visited, but I hope they stay open 'cause I enjoyed my dining experience. I wouldn't hesitate to go back!
- Order: iced green tea, red thai curry (vegetarian), curry pad thai, fried banana & ice cream
