This Place Needs More Unfavorable Reviews.
Enough! Stop with the very positive reviews so we can get in to what has become our favorite Mississauga restaurant without frequently having to wait for a table. On the weekends this restaurant can be extremely busy as it has become a very popular spot for large mid-day birthday parties. And no wonder with its cheerful servers, quickly filled orders and superior food quality, the $14.95 lunch price is an outstanding value. Please stay away.

Very good place to go for sushi, I was impressed with the portions of fish, they didn't just fill it with rice with a tiny piece of fish. They quality was excellent, and would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

I am a regular at their Brampton location and usually go to the Mississauga location about once a month. In my opinion, the food is just as good as the Brampton location and the decor in Mississauga is better. I am impressed that the staff in Mississauga know my preferences as well as the staff in Brampton. Kevin and Ivan have trained their people very well. I am sure that the third location, opening in Milton in November, will be up to the fine standards of the first two restaurants.

Abysmal food. There are many places in Mississauga that are equally cheap but the food is not awful, don’t bother to waste your time. I am generally hesitant to try Asian food for alck of service and hygene, we have been disappointed before, this place only confirmed that I should stick to other places. Chewy fish, plastic vegetables, luke-warm and tasteless soup, boring service, and unsavoury looking salmon, and this is the first sushi restaurant I went abck to after some time, not a place renowned for the freshness of it’s fish! Worst restaurant so far in Mississauga. Try The Keg or Moxie's if they are full rummage in the garbage before coming to this place.

I was introduced to this restaurant by my friend. It is recently I was introduced to sushi and maki rolls. I have tried a restaurant before this, also an all you can eat sushi buffet, but I was not pleased with the service, the place was not clean and the all the food we ordered came at once. This place was nothing like it, the waitresses were pleasant, the place was clean and comfy and the food was great. I went with my friends and we were seated in a booth near the window, which I really liked. We ordered different items from the all you can eat menu and I loved their dynamite rolls, and their sushi is really good. I also loved their spicy salmon crisp maki and BBQ eel in a maki or and sushi. When it came to desserts, I really loved their red bean ice cream, it is delicious. Also the ginger ice cream is good too, it is very flavourful. I intend to go there again. I have already done take out because I love their food, but I also want to do a sit-down lunch or dinner because the atmosphere is good. I understand it was open just recently, but I really hope they maintain this atmosphere of cleanliness, friendly service and fresh sushi.

Indeed nice to have a decent AYCE Japanese Restaurant in the west. Now I don't have to drive to Markham/Richmond Hill area.
We went there for dinner on Saturday and was seated immediately (very lucky). Those folks who came after us started to wait in line. And there were always people waiting in line even at the end of our dinner service. So I would suggest making reservations if possible.
Excellent selection of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. They do prepare most items fresh as you can tell by the warmth of the fried tempura and the crispness of the sushi seaweed. Try their spicy rolls (tuna / salmon). I also liked the different hand rolls.
I am impressed with the quality and freshness of the sashimi. Japanese buffets tend to be cheap with these. This restaurant cut you real big slices of salmon and white tuna. The sashimi/sushi platters are also arranged beautifully. It shows their attention to details and service even though they are very very busy.
This made a positive impression because compared to other equally busy Japanese Buffets, this restaurant gave you the attention and friendly service that you deserve.
Further about the service, I know the young manager was always there to greet customers as they come in. His wait staff was always quick to refill your drink, take your order forms, and clear away empty plates.
The restaurant can be noisy as it was a full house. But you can talk easily with your party... so the setting is excellent for dinner with friends and family.
I consider this restaurant one of the best Japanese Buffet I have had in the GTA. I will definitely visit again.

Usually I eat at the Brampton location but recently tried this new location in Mississauga. The food wasn't quite as good as the Brampton location, the rice was a bit overdone. I was also disappointed that the signature "Mississauga Roll" is the exact same as the "Brampton Roll", I thought it woulda been nice if they'd created a new signature menu item. It is a nice new modern look and feel inside but the tables are packed a bit too tightly for my taste. Overall a good experience but not as good as the Brampton location.

Finally there's a decent AYCE Japanese restaurant in Mississauga with friendly, competent service and properly made menu items with perfectly fresh ingredients.
If you are one of the reviewers who thought Park Sushi rates a 5, then this place rates a 50.
It is an expansion of a Brampton restaurant of the same name, 168 Sushi Buffet, although the outside signs proclaim it to be Japan Buffet. Names aside, it is what it is, a very favorable addition to Mississauga's dining options.
The term "Buffet" in its sign name is a bit misleading as it is the mark-a-menu type of AYCE dining with full table service, only the food here is surprisingly good.
The AYCE deals are $14.95 for lunch only and $22.95 all day. There's 2 "Special Deluxe" menu sections with about 25 items that are off limits to the lunch patrons.
We started with a cup of the Miso Soup and the Seaweed Salad. The salad was a best ever for its type in my somewhat limited Japanese restaurant experience and the soup was just like the instant Kikkoman Shiro Miso soup I use at home which is OK with me. We had a few quite satisfactory maki rolls, the Spicy Salmon,Dynamite and Spider, all were made with only 2 or 3mm of rice and a decent amount of filling. Things got even better with the sushi order. we sampled the Salmon, White Tuna, BBQ Eel, Salmon Rose, and Spicy White Tuna, the last two being my particular favorites. We enjoyed all the sushi as it was served warmish, at body temperature, which substantially enhances the fish flavors. However, we suspected some of the maki rolls were made in advance because they were served cold. Another plus, this was the first time I have had eel sushi served hot off the grill and it was a marked improvement over comparable local efforts.
From the cooked foods offered we chose the Kali beef ribs, chicken teriyaki, beef roll with mushrooms, plus Shrimp, Squid and vegetable Tempura. The shrimp were the best of the group being large and decorated with lots of crisp bits, (i forget the Japanese Chow-word for them) and just barely cooked. On the down-side, a few of them had not been de-veined.
Service was better than expected, with a couple of items arriving about a minute after ordering. How do they do it? Easy, I counted 1 expediter, 8 cooks and 2 helpers on duty. And this was on a Monday. To ensure promptness the servers wear radio-receiver ear pieces although with about 100 seats the restaurant could likely get along without them, except maybe on weekends when once this place gets known it ought to be jumping. Most of the servers with whom I had contact spoke exceptionally good English and readily assisted us in selecting the items for our meal.
There's a short list of things that could be improved on that would make this an exceptional mid-tier dining experience. First, get better chop sticks than the usual paper-wrapped siamesed things that come with take out orders. A better quality spoon than the cheap, barely de-burred model now in use is inconsistent with the fortune invested in many sizes of bone china service plates. No one inquired if the meal was satisfactory, however my many murmurs of appreciation likely made that unnecessary.
- Order: Too many items to list. Don't miss the spicy white tuna and the salmon rose.

First, the name of this restaurant is a bit confusing. The road sign says 168 (address of other location in Brampton), but the one on the actual restaurant says "JAPAN BUFFET". So I hope I have it right!
I noticed this restaurant while driving by. Thought that since it just opened, it was a good opportunity to try it out!
The food was pretty good, fresh. Supposedly, they are made-to-order and not just done in bulk, in advance. Lots of choices, including sushi, sashimi (dinner-only), hand rolls, teriyaki, noodle/fried rice, dessert, & soft drinks.
YES, drinks are included although they fill your stomach, so not recommended for your value. You have the option of other cocktails, alcoholic beverages, but these are extra.
I found the service to be quite friendly and they seemed patient with the predominantly Caucasian AYCE-sushi virgin patrons; explaining the nitty gritty about the how-tos of ordering.
Not-so-good: As with other sushi buffets, it is difficult to keep track of what you order. I believe that a coupla items never arrived, but it was soon forgotten as other food filled the space. But maybe this is a good thing?
Another thing worth mentioning was that the environment is not that intimate. There are booths for couples along 1 periphery of the restaurant, but the rest is basically a long bench with tables parked in front, and chairs on the other side. So you can be sitting right next to a stranger. It was quite busy on a Friday night, so again, not ideal for a candlelit dinner.
I found the table for 2 too small for the serving plates. Although they look nice, they're much too big for what they actually carry. A coupla times, I had to amalgamate pieces just to get rid of the plates. The servers did help though as plates were picked up and tea was refilled on a regular basis.
In comparison to other AYCE sushi buffets, 168 differs by including drinks & having a set lunch/dinner price for every day of the week - no difference for weekend.
I suggest trying this restaurant out while it is still new to ensure the good service continue!
