  • We walked into the place this afternoon for the first time thinking of enjoying a good lunch. the place was 75% full. As usual we waited for someone to assist us to a table. the two servers were walking pass us without even giving us a glance. After 10 minutes of waiting, The waiter called us to a table, which he was cleaning. My girlfriend pointed the seat was wet. He used his hands to wipe the water out and said " It's clean Now" Then waiter comes back to the table pulled out the menu put it on the table, walks away. No greetings what so ever. ( good afternoon, how are you?, my name is ????., this is our special today) Nothing..... Thank goodness the menu wasn't in japanese. Then we started marking what we need on the menu guessing how the menu work. After awhile a waitress was there to take our order .we asked her how does this menu work? she goes , This is for lunch ,This is for dinner. grabbed our menu . Because we had marked some food from the dinner menu, We wanted to get something else. But, waitress said I KNOW I KNOW and walks away with the menu. We both were stunned. still we were trying to get there attention to change our order. which was useless. So we started walking out pissed. My girlfriend wanted to find the manager. Then a guy with a apron started walking towards us, We asked him where is the manager? Well surprise ???? Manager does not work on sunday, He said. he said he was in charge. My girlfriend was explaining to him about the unpleasant customer service we were given by the staff. When he heard we were going to make a complaint to the owner , He said " I'm the owner" Then asked us to come in and he will give us a discount. He clearly didn't understand money wasn't the issue, The service was. We have been to so many restaurents in canada and this is the worst service we experience so far. I will never go back nor will recommend it to any one else.

  • I enjoyed this type of buffet experience. Our family of 4 could eat as much as we wanted but nothing went to waste. We picked from the menu and it was delivered to our table within minutes. I enjoyed this because I didn't have to run around after my kids and I actually got to sit and enjoy my wine. The food was mostly good and we finally satisfied our craving for sushi; but of course there were plenty of other things we ordered that were enjoyed by the kids. We will definitely be back because the price too was not bad.

  • Order: all varieties of sushi, teriyaki chicken, chicken shiskabob, lemon chicken, noodles, tempura, hot and sour soup and many more

  • I never get a great feeling from this place, and I'm not sure why. The food is pretty good - not the best sushi in Milton, but certainly decent enough. The decor is... meh. The staff are hit and miss too. Some days they're all smiles and good service, and others they're surly and barely come near your table. I think it's probably that you never know if you're going to have a great experience or not.

  • We were pleased that our second visit confirmed that this new restaurant is improving and maybe even better already in some areas than its Mississauga location. It was much busier than our first time here and service was noticeably quicker by the cheerful and solicitous service team.

We perceived that they are making adjustments in some menu items, and all for the better. For example, the White Tuna Pizza was particularly attractive and tasty. It will be one of our regular items in the future. Of course, members on this site of the Sushi Authenticity Police Force will never approve, but for us it's all about freshness and the varied flavor experiences we enjoy here. Another improvement noted was that the Maki rolls were distinctively sauced with a variety of flavors making the usual perfunctory dunk in soy sauce unnecessary.

It was also nice to see how many family groups were here with well-behaved young children.

  • Order: Miso Soup, Seaweed Salad, Kalbi. Shrimp Tempura, Grilled Vegetables, White Tuna Pizza.

I see that a regular from the Mississauga branch of this restaurant has visited. I like the food here slightly better than either of the other 2 restaurants.

  • OMG we are STUFFED! They urged us to eat more!!

But before I begin, IF YOU ARE IN MILTON PLEASE READ:

You have probably seen this restaurant from the outside wondering what goes on inside. Let me break it down for you what it really is. It's not a buffet as the name suggests. It's a restaurant where there is a menu and you can pick anything you want off the menu. Now do NOT think that this is a sushi only place. You can order beef curry/pork curry/rice/kabobs/soups/tea softdrinks etc. As much as you want. You can ask them for double portions and they will do so. Please see my pictures. You will notice that sushi made up of a minority of what we ate. Japanese food does not hold well in a buffet table, so that is why it is made fresh for you. You will be STUFFED guys trust me. Even if you don't like sushi. I'm so stuffed right now.. wow.

    On with the review..

All you can eat sushi places have a bad reputation and rightfully so. You will not get what you order, overcharging on the bill, poor atmosphere, and there are lots of waiting games they play before you get your food. There can be time limits, only 2 rounds, etc. Many actually accept the tricks and games as part of the experience.

    There are no games here.
    No time limits.
    No waiting for food.

    You order.

They bring to your table almost right away or asap.

If you have left overs, they can charge you .50 cents per piece. I think that's a fair deal.

So my wife and I decided (after 24 hours of not eating) that we were going to get 'this item' and 'that item'. After all, we rarely ever eat Japanese and wanted to try a variety.

The waiter says "wow. I'm not sure if there is enough room on the table for that". So he comes back and wow it was just plate after plate after plate. We thought "uh oh.. how are we going to eat all this!.. Did we order all this?" Then someone else would come out and keep putting down plates on our table.

But we did get through it all. We even ordered a small second round of sashimi and some sushi and some miso soup. Wow after that we were STUFFED! But still made room for dessert hehe.
They then egged us on to order some more with a big smile. You will NEVER have an all you can eat place say that! This is NOT typical all you can eat service.

    Food:

Sushi is good. But honestly the better food was the other things. The best was the Yakitori (kabob) IMO. The squid, the curry's. I'm not really a sushi fan anyhow. I mean.. i like it.. but go for the other items at the bottom of the menu. Not necessarily the sushi. The food was as good as Japanese food is going to get. I HAVE had better sushi though, but this is right up there with it. I have hard differentiating good and very good sushi. The sashimi was very fresh and good. The chicken noodle dish was OK.

    Service:

Unbelievable. Our tea was always filled up without asking. Plates always removed right away. Food served right away. Polite attitude. This is ****NOT**** typical of an all you can eat sushi place that have the bad reputation. This is a chain and they try to show it. They want to compete with Mandarin.

    Atmosphere:

BOOTHS! Yes they have BOOTHS WITH WINDOW SEATS! When we walked in they pointed us to the window seat booths! They just need to dim the lights down lower. It's in Chinese 'ways' to have bright lights, but here we like dim lights during dinner.

    WHY SHOULD YOU NOT GO?

Well there's always a catch. The price. It's fairly pricey for dinner at $23 a head. They must have a spent a small fortune on the restaurant and need to pay back loans. It's a tricky game.. too much of a high price might drive people away. Too low and you aren't making ends meet. I can understand.

    Room for improvement:

Milton has lots of kids. They need a kids menu where kids under 6 or so eat for free. They need french fries and chicken balls for the kids. I doubt they would eat the food there. They need to get the parents in and families in. It is a very stiff

Yeah I'll defiantly go again but the cost prevents us from going more than we'd like to. This might be a spot that we go to maybe a few times a year to treat ourselves.

  • This is the 3rd location for Japan Buffet, also known as 168 Sushi Japan Buffet (because the original location in Brampton is at 168 Kennedy Road).

We decide to drive to Milton from Brampton to give this restaurant a try because we have eaten at both other locations in Brampton and Mississauga and enjoyed both.

The new Milton location is very similar to the previous restaurants. They have the same ordering system (fill out a menu sheet) and almost all the same menu items. There are a few new items on the menu here though, such as a fruit maki roll and garlic bread.

This is the nicest of the Japan Buffet's as far as decor and design go. The dinning room is very large and is split level.

The location is right near a movie theater and many other retail stores.

I would definitely go back here. The food was delicious as always at the Japan Buffet restaurants, the servers and staff were very friendly and the restaurant is very nicely setup.
