Another great Sushi Restaurant in Markham.
I work around Highway 7 and Woodbine Ave and I usually go out to lunch in that area. The other day, my co-workers and I were driving along woodbine thinking of hitting some place to eat, we saw the restaurant. Great booth for a private lunch. So Japanese!! And they happened to have some specials coming out for Nov. and Dec. I gave it a try and it was so good. For 8.95 before Tax, I had a Salmon Teriyaki, cali Roll and Spicy Salmon R. Of course, a set course came with the Mso soup and Salard. My co-worker ordered Sashimi Lunch cause he is the fish fan. He said the quality of the fish is just awsome. well, everyone had a great time. Now we had another place to visit often for lunch!! Great Food. - Order: Salmon All Day Special/ Sashimi Lunch

Tokyo Sushi (in Markham) is a newcomer to the high competition “crappy sushi” market around here. What makes it “crappy sushi” is that everything costs about 10% less than in the more reputable places and the names of the rolls are “wackified”. What I mean by that is they have roll called the “Blazing Orange Spider Crab Roll” and it contains a random assortment of seameatz, guacamole, and chipotle(sp?) sauce. However since I am finishing up my residency/internship portion of PT school and am completely broke this discount option seemed like the best fit for my wallet. The waitresses were nothing special to look at either. If you wont try at least to look hot why would I try to come back or tip?

Great place to go to!
My friends and I go to the restaurant at Tuesday night. When we first walked into that private booth, all of us WOWed lol. Such a nice setting for a dinner of gathering. Then we ordered 3 Dinner Special bento. Salard and miso soup came first. The Salard dressing tasted like fruit dressing and miso was great. And the dinner bento had everything in there, Teriyaki, Tempura, Sushi and Sashimi! The portion of each kind was good and the sushi and sashimi was so fresh. All of us had a great time there.

Recommended by my neighbours, several friends and I decided to go to Tokyo Sushi to check it out.
We ordered the dinner special and sushi party tray.
I sweared that is the best sushi i had ever had, the sushi rice is so tender, the fish (especially salmon and red tuna )are so fresh which we still wanted some more after we finished the whole large tray. Thanks to the chef and we will definitely be back there!

After looking at the great reviews for this location, my girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try. We were both excited to experience some great Japanese food. Boy, let me tell you...the other reviewers got it WRONG. Let me save you a load of time, money and some more time and money: the food is EXPENSIVE and TERRIBLE.
Let me be honest here. I'm not a big fan of the odd 1% of reviewers who are NEVER happy with their service and/or meals. And I rarely, if ever, complain about my food. But from the moment we opened the crusty menus and took a lot at their outrageous prices (e.g. Dinner Special $15.95, Chicken Teriyaki $11.95), we knew something was up. My girlfriend went with the Dinner Special and I got Combo N2, which was 15 pieces of selected sushi.
Starting our meal, the salad was disappointing. The lettuce was sitting in a pool of water and the dressing tasted like bland applesauce. Miso soup was decent, but hey, how can you screw that up?
The meal itself was sickening. Tempura was covered in a thick fish-and-chips batter (not the light, fluffy kind of batter you find in other Japanese restaurants) and fried in old oil - the dark brown colour gave it away. Chicken teriyaki was a good sized portion...but stringy and tasteless. The tuna was dry and discoloured, with an off-texture that forced me to leave one of the two pieces behind. And I never waste food. EVER. Strangely enough, butterfish and salmon sushi were both fresh and tasty, but the underlying bed of rice was packed solid and still sour from un-dissolved vinegar. Mackerel was sour beyond its natural flavour, which is still a mystery to us. California rolls were average, at best.
Service was good, and the waitress was friendly.
The bill came to about $40 dollars, which would have been reasonable if the food wasn't so bad.
I would not recommend Tokyo Sushi to anyone. This was probably one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.

I was looking for a sushi place near my hotel, and stumbled accross Tokyo Sushi. I was extremely impressed with the layout/atmosphere of the restaurant, the fast/friendly service and the excellent food. I'll be going back again this week before I head home.

Isolated cubicles for a cozy atmosphere for 4, or a separate room. Little push button chimes to call for prompt service when you wish allowing for privacy.
The all you can eat sushi/sashimi is good and reasonably priced - just don't order more than you can eat.
Dietary concerns... I haven't found places with properly brewed soya sauce. If this place had it, it would score a 10.
I've been going there off and on for almost a decade.
