Tangerine Asian Cuisine

I love going to Tangerine on Markham Rd, the service there is awesome, we are greeted by a man names Lawrence who is the sweetest old man. Not that old, but older than my dad.lol. He always checks on us to make sure we are enjoying our food, chats with us and asks us how are family is. We've been going to that location for 7 years and are never disappointed. We have introduced MANY people to Tangerine and they all keep going back for more. EVerytime we have visitors from Brampton or Oakville, Tangerine is where they want to eat because they know the food and service is the best. I HIGHLY recommend eating there. Prices are great as well, lunch special deals are fantastic too, the amount of food you get for one person is unreal! Dont miss out, try Tangerine on Markham road today!!!

I can't understand why this restaurant gets good reviews. This is quite possibly the most disgusting Chinese/Indian food I have ever had in my life! The food comes in pools of slime that overflows off the plate. Gelatinous dishes arrived way too fast, making me think that it was pre-made in barrels, scooped on a plate, and warmed up in a microwave - food came lukewarm. I get a stomach ache just thinking about the meal I had there. I can stand a bleak restaurant atmosphere if the food is commendable, but neither was present here.

We had a "buy one entree, get another entree free" coupon which we called about before we went, and told our server about when we ordered. They told us we HAD to pay cash in order to use the coupon (this is NOT stipulated on the coupon). We were miffed, but went ahead.

I will say the food was delicious and well cooked (my shrimp was not overcooked for example). We eat Hakka often, and although I'd prefer Federicks in Scarborough, if we were in Markham, this would be a good option.

When we got the bill, they had overcharged us for one item (they refused to change it) and they had added a TWENTY percent "service charge". When we questioned the "boss" (the young manager/owner type) he said that this was a "term of use" on the coupon". On the back of the coupon it reminds the customer to tip appropriately (ie: on the total BEFORE the discount is applied). This is in NO WAY a "term of use" of the coupon whereby a restaurant automatically adds a service charge! We've used these entertainment dot com coupons before with no such nonsense. He said he HAD to charge us the service charge "according to the coupon". He also said "we HAVE to charge you that because we don't know which customers will tip and which won't tip". What a bunch of crap. He refused to change the bill and smiled at us smugly, knowing that we couldn't do anything about it. He even said quite snarkily "have a great day!" as we left. Well, we eat out at least two to three times a week and will never be spending another cent at any Tangerine location. The attitude here and the scams they pull are not worth it. Take your business elsewhere.

The ambiance was okay...normal for such an establishment. I like the fact that it's not a chain.

The food was WONDERFUL even if the service was slightly less than perfect, but on a 10 dollar meal, who cares! If you want Royal York service, then you pay Royal York prices; and seriously who can afford that?

Really, you must go with a little group or at least two people and share different dishes, thereby diminishing the cost to you and increasing the variety of what you eat. The meat dishes with tax and tip run at around 10 (on the high side).

Try to be a person who can at least TRY anything, otherwise, you should stick to mainstream substandard eateries such as McDonalds. There is something for everyone there!

I never seen the owner so rude to the customer especially the lady owner and the young guy owner also.

My husband and I order from here ALL the time. The food is consistently yummy! I wouldn't dine in unless I had too (it's really dark and not very pretty). But dine in isn't terrible either.

You must eat here at least once. It's SOO yummy!

Food are so tasty, delicious and mouth-watering. Best food in Markham and Whitby. Will recommend all the other family members to try this Indian-Hakka Chinese food. Desi-Chinese foods are definitely aromatic, flavourful and yummy to eat and enjoy. Children love the food. Will come back to have a family dinner. Hm! Hm! Hm!

I've been here a few times (Markham Road) and its always hard to get seats!! they should think about expanding.
The food is cheap and plentiful ($6 to $8 per person), we couldn't even finish lunch. The Bombay chicken is extrememly flavourful and they don't joke about the spice, hot is HOT...

Will certaintly go again. Highly recommended to friends and families. Hope they can open another restaurant in Muskoka, Barrie, North Bay, Timmins, Sarnia and many other places in Canada.
