While I agree that Moti is one of the better Indian Restaurants in Markham, I will have to say that it is not the best.
The buttered chicken is one of the better ones that i have tasted in Markham, but it is not consistent. Some days it's fantastic and other days meh.
The rest of the food is fairly fresh and delicious, but nothing to call amazing. The staff is friendly and curteous and the ambiance is OK.
The one little caveat is that the washrooms are outside of the restaurant in the office part of the building.
I go there about once a week for lunch and I like it, but I would not go as far as to say it the best.

The food was absolutely delicious. Each dish had its own unique flavour and it was so fresh in it taste. I found that the Naans, noth onion stuffed and plain, were nicely cooked, and each corner of the naan was cooked, whereas other resto's tend to have half-cooked naans. This resto had well-cooked, falvourful and tender buttery naans, that went perfectly with the dishes. Also, the rotis we ordered were fluffy and tasty.
The catering was packed very nicely and we were able to easily carry the box of food to our car and not have any issues of spillage.
The owners are friendly, helpful, and honest and they really do make effort to please the customers, as I have seen for the many times that I have been there with large family groups. The owner also is very passionate about their dishes and is very knowledgeable and helps you order the right combination of dishes.
All in all, this place is awesome and a great place for family or smaller formal gatherings.
I have also tried their buffet many times and it is also very delicious, with lots of vegetarian and non-vegetarian variety.

I think the scores by others seem to be grossly overstated. I saw the review and went with high expectations.
I had a buffet and that probably was the reason why i wasnt too impressed. The food was lukewarm at best. Most of the dishes were ok. Some of the ones that stood out were Mattar Paneer. I really liked that. The famed tandoori chicken wasnt any where close to what is given on this site. It wasnt cooked well enough and seemed to be too oily for some strange reason. The worst part was that it wasnt tender enough.
The Butter chicken was good. But again wasnt hot. Not having hot steaming food really can impact the overall taste. The naan was good and i really enjoyed it. Overall bland and did not have the authentic taste, which other writers have talked about.
The owners were obviously trying to keep costs down, as they were supported by on 1 helper. The lady-owner seemed to be in foul mood, as it was hard to get her to smile. The room had a strange muggy feel to it. Maybe it was because i went on a wet weekend. The buffet at $15.95, seemed to be overpriced for the taste and spread. Desserts were really dissapointing. Both in terms of spread and taste. The Gulab jamun seemed to made from "Gits" -canned. Though i could be wrong. the kheer was not fully cooked and i could see globules of fat in the milk.
Overall i would not recommend my friends to go there. For sure there are other places in Brampton, which are far better. - Order: Buffet

they deliveŕ the food in short time, it was still hot(which is a very good point),
my friend told me to eat without fork and knife, just with hands, so it was prety fun,
food tasted great, it was spice as i like,i had indian food before, but i enjoyed this one the most,
next time when there is no food at home and i feel lazy to go out,
for sure i will call their number and place an order instead of pizza or other fast-food - Order: aloo-gobi, daal makhni, chicken vindaloo, naan

My first experience at Moti Mahal was at the Gerrard location. I was expecting the same level of food in Markham, but was mistaken.
While the decor and restaurant experience are beyond a doubt more inviting than on Gerrard (in that they try at all, which can't be said in Toronto), the food is blander and less authentic. It's still better than many places, mind you, but it certainly doesn't deserve the perfect 10 scores so generously given by other reviewers.
The Masala dish was good, but lacked the punch I was expecting. The sizzling cheese, whose name I can't recall, did not live up to the menu's appetizing description. It was totally bland, and while being served on a sizzling plate, was actually not that warm at all.
The lassi, however, was very good. They put in lots of mangos, and it's half the price of what they charge at The Host.
Service was very pleasant, but really it's the food that counts, and where this Moti Mahal falls short. If you're in Toronto, go to Gerrard. If you're up north, well, at least it doesn't cost an arm and a leg (like at Host).

The food was excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. Their Naan and tandoori chicken are one of the best in Toronto. The Madras Chicken and paneer sabhji's are quite authentic. It is one of our favorite restaurants!

food was excellent, as an indian myself i would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a taste of authentic indian cuisine, the decor needs a little bit of updating, but inspite of that it is a neat and cozy place to enjoy your food. The friendliness of the owner makes you feel very welcome, their suggestions were refreshing. I will visit again in a blink!
