Review: The prices wre definitely high and portions were all small. Unfortunately, the tastes were so-so.
There were only one waitress working that night so having our tea cups refilled was really a big challenge.

Review: I love this restaurant. My family has been going to it for 20 years and it has never failed us yet. The owners are actually japanese and are very curtious. The decore may need some improvment but it is comfortable and the point of the restaraunt is the food. It has the best sushi you will get in Toronto and there is always space. The food is always very fresh and is made to order. The food is well worth the price! I do recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Review: When I walked in I knew I should've went out the other way! The place lacks ambience, an unpleasant odour and moisture build-up in their fish display case is not a good sign. The sushi was not done very well since it fell apart and were pricey for the quality and size - $5. Califorinia rolls lacked cucumber. The toro didn't fare much better as it didn't taste too fresh and was overpowered by a fishy smell (yes, I know it's fish) $10. My dining companion ordered a vegetable tempura set, which came with tea, salad and a bowl of rice - $18! Having lived in Japan and my dining companion too, we say stay clear of this place! There's better eats at Cafe Michi at Sheppard and Pharmacy.

Review: The prices are high.
The maki or sushi rolls are too big and not well-made. One of my rolls was falling apart because it was poorly made. The rolls were presented on a dirty looking wooden platter.
My spoon was dirty.
The miso soup made me gag because of a strong sour taste.
The tofu and BBQ eel are good.
The tempura is not well-made.
The decor of the restaurant looks old-fashioned- from 70's (needs a makeover or upgrade),
I don't recommend this restaurant.

Review: My husband and I have visited Mr. Hamata's HAMA often and ALWAYS, ALWAYS have the best service and THE BEST sushi. The place is always clean and the wait staff courteous and friendly. Yes, it is expensive but certainly well worth the money. We make the drive from Barrie for special occasions to eat here. You cannot find sushi of this quality ANYWHERE the side of Tokyo. And trust me we have looked.

Review: This is quite simply the best sushi I have ever had! Fresh fish, abundant portions, and excellent ( if sometimes incoherent ) service. Quite simply the best sushi the city has to offer. That other reviewer is a complete idiot! She has no taste whatsoever....cheers.
