the food here is exceptional, hudge dishes, hong kong style cooking, prices are excellent on the quality of food you recieve, service very bad don't bouther to ask for different silver wears, they get anoyed easily. becareful of the untesials you use, it is often dirty and not clean, so every time i go there i wash the dishes with tea first then eat on it.

Definitely one of my favourite lunch places in Markham. Sure the wait staff is not the friendliest bunch, but I'm not there to strike up a conversation with any of them.

The food is what makes me come back again and again. It is tasty and plentifull and not too white breadified. I can't stand Mandarin style Chinese.

If you are a foodie like me and can overlook things like curt service and dirty washrooms, this is the place for you.

There are other good Chinese eateries, but this is definitely one of my favourites.

I only go to Congee Wong for the congee, which I think is probably still one of the better ones I've tasted around GTA area, and definitely good prices too. Their seafood congee comes with good amount of seafood, and the congee texture to the dot. It tastes even better if you mix in some of their hot chilli sauce in their, dip with the fried dough and eat with some fried egg mixed turnip dish, which is also very tasty. Great cheap meal when you feel like filling your stomach with something soft and easy to digest. Their tables could be a little bit cleaner though.

This location has got a lot worst each time I come here. I did not order a vegetarian fried rice; however, my fried rice consisted mainly of lettuce, carrots and peas. There was very few meat inside. In addition, this combination was horrible, I felt like they just got frozen vegetables and placed them in. The peas were much to hard to bite into. I did not feel to well after eating here.

we've been enjoying this location for many years, although we don't live in the area, this is our stop of choice- but not after this experience. busy restaurants will often have arrogant service because they know they don't need. please note the other C.W. location at Markham's Peachtree's menu - although exactly identical has spelling / menu errors so don't go and memorize the number you ordered at the other place. today i ordered fried squid but they came out with the squid tentacles instead. when order came, i said 'that's the wrong one, i wanted the other squid. that's all fine, until the stupid woman server came BACK TO me asking why i would order the 'wrong squid' and essentially embarrassed me in front of my dinner companion and of course,the next table who heard everthying and ended up leaving early because they were embarrassed for me as i was fuming. like i go our for dinner and order wrong food for fun. terrible treatment for a honest mistake.

so now, i'm avoiding this location - i go to the mississauga Congee Dynasty where service is a bit better.

i used to always go to congee wong at first markham place, the food is amazing for the price. its the cheapest food you can find for the size and amount and quality. but watch out and don't eat there if they are 1-2 hours before closing. we went to eat late night snack at the First Markham location about 1 hour before they closed, and i swear me and my gf got food poisoning from the beef brisket. she ate more of that then me and she puked for 6 hours the next day. i had bad stomach cramps, and almost puked the following morning. i love congee wong, but after this experience, its a little shady now. stick to chow mein and fried rice

We have been going to Congee Wong since it started in 2001. This the place where one order of fried rice can feed a family of 6. The quantities are very large and very good value. Their quick service is always consistent even during its busiest times. They will need to open a few more around town to cater to its following. I guess this is good problem for them

For take-out, I tried to dial the above # and they did not accept orders. They said to dial: 905 474-1844

There was hardly any black bean sauce in the Rice Noodle dish. The rice noodles were still white without any coating of the black bean sauce.

The Cantonese Chowmein had very little of the other ingredients and it was flavoured with ketchup and soy sauce.

I used to order these 2 dishes at least 1-2 times a month for the last 2 years but this one disappointing experience has made me stop going there.
