Katana Kafe

I have been here a few times because my son really likes airplanes and we have returned in spite of the bad service. From the moment we've arrived, we've felt unwelcome, as if they really don't like kids (though, I'm not sure who, other than a kid, would really appreciate having a meal on a runway strip in the middle of an industrial park).
The first time we went, we were told that there wasn't room for us. We asked to sit at the bar, which would have been harder for them to serve, and magically a table became available. We then waited 45 minutes for their house soup, while our server sipped an espresso at the bar and joked around with the kitchen staff. We kept thinking our server had forgotten our soups, but then our server finally told us that the printer had broken (45 minutes later). The second time we were told they were closed, although it was before 3pm - the hours they advertise. The third time, our server was nice and the food was reasonable. Then the OWNER walked up to our booth, without introducing himself or being friendly in any sense and scolded me for allowing my son to touch the ugly fibreglass wing above the booth, telling me to get his fingers off of it. We are just a young family, there is nothing abnormal about us and my son was well behaved. I can only assume that this happens to a lot of people who take there kids here. I would suggest that, if you go to this place, to go because you like airplanes, not because you like service or even food.

I have been to Katana's several times for both lunch and supper and I have recommended it to several people. About 2 months ago I booked Katana's for my family supper with my siblings. I had it booked for Dec 15 for 8pm. I was in there three weeks ago for lunch and had the server confirm my reservation. She said that it was on the books for the date and time indicated. I then received a phone call one week later saying that they overbooked and had a party of 26 people coming in and the only thing they could do with my party of 8 was to sit us in separate booths. I told her this was not an option and she said there was nothing they could do and I would have to rebook. Needless to say I was very disappointed with this but she basically said there was nothing more they could offer. Up to this point I have really enjoyed this restaurant. I would like the owner of Katana's to know this because being in the retail sector this kind of practice can eventually hurt the business.
