  • The owners attitude and attire is very poor. Serving on the cash taking the orders with a vocabulary of a ignorant person. No smile on his face, dressed with a greasy shirt that hanged over his oversize belly up to his knees like a street kid. You ask for a beef shawarma, and they do not have beef. Then you ask for a chicken shawarma with extra onions and turnips, you get a naked chicken shawarma with chicken and sauce nothing else. Wow, such cheapos. Oh yeah, when middle eastern people show up, they get special service compared to locals. You should treat all your customers with respect if you want our business. This has happened several times, selective service. Bottom line: If you want good service and good food get a shawarma some where else, Barakat should move to a ghetto, they do not deserve a downtown location of a great city such as London.

  • I asked for a chicken shawarma with everything in it, no hot sauce. Paid for it, and in less than 15 seconds they give me a one. Ok, I did not even see you make one! So I told the person: that was quick, are you sure you put in everything? Their response was yeah yeah its got everything. I told him I did not see you make this for me. He replied, we had this done earlier, its got everything on it, yeah yeah. Basically get out of here. How rude. Anyway I took a seat and unwrapped it, as I suspected it had chicken, one soggy tomato and a smashed pickle. I asked for everything: Onions, Turnips, Tabuli, etc, etc. This is not nice. One soggy shawarma and rude service just got you a bad review Barakat. Get your act straight do not give your customers attitude and bad food. By the way, take beef out of your menu since you never have any there. Fake advertisement.

  • I have only tried a shawarma but they are really good! My first time every eating one was at this restaurant and they are filling and also a decent price. However, the atmosphere could improve a little. The tables are always dirty and it doesn't look appealing.

  • I've only tasted the chicken shawarma, and it is thee best shawarma I've ever tasted so far!

The price I guess is reasonable since it's located downtown too.

I am looking forward to come back here and try the hummus and falafels :)

  • Folks the food is above average and you pay for that but the atmos-fear. Well, you are greeted by gunk, muck & filth from the moment you touch the door handle.
Listen, put the blinders on, run in & pick-up your pre-ordered order & run.

  • For fast food take-out, I often choose Barakat - home the best falafels in London! In fact I've had several dishes here and have found all of them excellent. Given the alternatives for a quick, inexpensive dinner; Barakat usually wins hands-down in our household.

The service and the atmosphere are nothing special, but certainly adequate for an inexpensive diner. The owner and staff are a little brash, but they get the job done and know how to prepare authentic middle eastern food. We've been regulars here for years and don't see that changing anytime soon!

  • We rarely visit London, but were in town yesterday. Bakarat was recommended to us by our son so we dropped by there for lunch. The service was prompt and very courteous - with the owner taking orders and offering to bring our meal to our table. The shawarmas and falafel were hot, fresh and incredibly delicious. We shared the tabouli and it was the best we've ever tried.

Following our meal, we told the owner how impressed we were with everything and wished he were operating in Guelph, our home town. He thanked us sincerely and then brought us complimentary deserts of tasty baklava.

We'll return to this place for sure whenever we're near London!

  • Very tasty homemade falafels, fattoush salad, pickles, hummus. Great value for quality and portions. I like the casual in-and-out atmosphere for a quick bite. Homemade goodness and consistent quality. I'm sold on Barakat and can see why they have such a loyal following here. Be forewarned, that this ain't a place for germaphobes. Get your food and don't look around too closely.

  • The service from the employees is pretty bad; they didn't even greet me or ask what I wanted. They just looked me in the eye and expected me to talk.

I ordered a chicken shawarma and they were all pre-made. When you order it, they put it in the press for about 30 seconds and handed it to me. It wasn't hot and didn't taste fresh at all. As well, I didn't get to select any toppings and the "standard" shawarma didn't include pickled turnips. Wtf?!

I won't go back and I will pass this along.

  • Yummm one of my favourite middle eastern places to eat. They NEVER skimp on the quantity of food. I normally order the Combo # 2 (chicken shwarma, beef kabobs, hummus, rice, pickles, turnips, and garlic sauce w/pita) or the Mala salad which has a refreshing lemon oil dressing. You usually have to wait about 10 minutes for a takeout order but its worth the wait. Always get it in a takeout order cuz the combo is enough food for 2 meals!! Can't beat quality AND quantity for a good price and fresh food.
