I have been raving about this place in the past but let me tell you...I'm NEVER going back.
It's gone way down hill since March when I was there and enjoyed sipping on an authentic Italian Green Tea, served in a perfectly constructed stainless steel kettle. Not only that, but to my dismay, my lemon wedge was sliced not only too thin, but the one they replaced it with was too thick!!!!!!!!! Why is it that the italian restaraunts in Leamington cannot make a proper ITALIAN GREEN TEA!!!! I thought that's what Italians were famous for!!!!!!
Also, this time, the salad had to come from a bag or some sort of packaging (lazy) and it looked like someone SAT in it, that's right I said SAT in it??!?!?!
Wait it gets worse, we waited 45 minutes to be seated because the waiter or manager (not sure which) told me that his regulars may come any minute and that they could make me my Green Tea and Salad to go if I'd like!!! UNREAL!
And if that was not enough...the garlic bread I enjoy soo much was not fresh and garlicy the way I enjoy it...it was mushy, old and did not taste right.
From my earlier reviews you can see that I've never had anything negative to say, however I'm officially done here.
Sorry for the spelling on my prior posts, till the next time!

The wait staff was sooo below par that our server actually disappeard for a good 45 minutes of our 2 hour meal. Yes 2 hours b/c out of all eight dishes only 6 showed up togeather, I was forced to eat my meal cold due to the late arrival of my husbands dish(we had to finally ask for it 20 min. later!) Our 1st round of drinks came promptly but then with no waiter how can you order more. When asking another server we were told to wait for our own server & he was the ONLY person who could help us. I have never in my life paid a tab & not left a tip, until that night...
Bill:$135 (me & husband) Tip:$OOO
The food was mickey mouse & the service was disgraceful. 15 minutes & 3x asking for parmigiano, really? That was our last visit.
My visit before that was a quick 2 minutes, My sister & I walked in to an empty restraunt @ 8pm on a friday & were told that without question they could not serve us, we were told that without a reservation we could not eat, so in turn I asked if they were full for the night & could we come back later, we were told no they were not booked full but b/c their regulars do not make resv. & they might show up. So we were turned away b/c some one may or may not show up for their SPECIAL Table! We so wanted be able to save the drive to the city & have good food in the county but obviously Erie St. Windsor wants our money a little more! Plus there we are treated like A PAYING CUSTOMER!!! Don't forget that's what we are you spikey haired little "Gotti wannabes" No customers, no money! I feel sorry for the owners, I hope they become aware of how the employees represent the establishment. - Order: Pasta, Seafood, Drinks & chicken that never arrived!

After I walked in, sat down and got comfortable, an enthusiastic, yet down to earth waiter came to my table and offered me a menu with a sincere and warm smile and asked me
if I care for a drink, he returned with my delicious green tea. My water was not too hot, but just perfect; to accentuate the flavour and bring out the benefits of the green tea, which was flavoured with lemongrass, giving it a very nice homey and refreshing flavour. He brought a clean, small almost snow white plate with a fresh piece of lemon that was not cut too thin or too thick, which increased the health benefits of my green tea. Then, my server, brought garlic bread, in the unique Spago’s tradition, as a Hors d'oeuvre. Places of lower standards then Spago’s, the garlic bread would be dry and to say the least, Rancid and gross. Spago’s garlic bread, has even been improved, over time. It is now fresher and softer, but it was still like toast, and the garlic tasted like it had been steamed and fried. The waitor show give a special dip, I never had there before, it was first Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese sprinkled on the bottom, mixed with a special high quality flavorful invigorating olive oil and herb mix, a balsamic dressing, with a very high quality balsamic qualities, very soothing, gentle, yet tangy. I try at home now, it was so good, so many good favlor.
Large insalata mista, Fresh, well seasoned, authentic Mediterranean, something desirable and well relished, with an ever so subtle dress, thin, but almost creamy, with a tangy hint. The variety of the fresh leaves, with an almost mallow tasting. The head chef cook, came out ask how the meal was, it made me feel like we are family. And both waiter and cook told myself, as left to travel safely. Spago's Trattoria is truly like my family (but better). The service is polite, quick, focused, & warm. The only thing that really needs improvement, might be the lightening, it is not bad, but it could be a bit brighter. I have been never been hesitant, to eat there. 9 out 10 of these bad reviews, come from only an envious plot scheming scared person/people intimidate by the prosperous competition. It is very obviousally, most locals
would agree too! The closest thing to, not being that great would be Gino's, in Leamington. That staff, is not into what they do, which is like okay for some people, I guess, for some people, if you going for cheap, and not into food, or really that hungry. No restaurant could ever be that displeasing it is leamington, it is Italian, it the pride of the town, wake up people! - Order: Large Insalata mista, tea, green. bread and cook garlic.

Have been hesitant to visit after reading reviews, however living in leamington can present a lack of options for an appropriate New Year's meal. However, after being warmly greeted, it didnt take long to change our minds. We started with the calamari and the meal only got better, moving on with a house salad and finishing with a creamily delicious sole fillet, with fresh brocolli and roasted redskins. Was suprised after having read recent reviews that the menu no longer lists veal marsalla nor rissotto, (although when asked the server informed us that the chef would be happy to accomodate), leading me to question some of the reviews. It is my hope that the integrity of this website is not comprimised by a few individuals spite, as some of these reviews are clearly false. (ie. nardella under 18 drinking wine???)

It is the real deal for Italian food, here. It puts all others claiming to be Italian cookeries in Leamington to shame. The best salads in Leamington! . . .
Without question! I tried nearly every Leamington restaurant salad. There’s a menu page just for salads. With feta or not. Which means a lot to me, since I try to eat healthy. The head chef, (don't let age fool you, a master! Mas-ter) I discussed how I want my salad. She's makes the salad that’s will fill me up. Who ever it the boss, knows there stuff, by placing a friendly fresh passionate cook there, Love it! Do you Some salads you eat (in other places) you like, that's it . High quality in the food! The environment is like the feeling the day is over like look-feeling, work is over feeling, time to eat, & relax, and which makes it perfect to set the mood, for all guys, if you're smart, this is the perfect to get you woman to marry guy or whatever. I feel richer there. If it could add figs, & fresh oranges plus a pizzeria, plus a bakery. then it would be above, what I'm guessing is good even highest Italian standards in Italy. The service is great! Not like some place that you can tell that they try & fake it. You what I talking about. Love it! They used quality tea (Not like super poor-quality Gino's, give me a break, your a cafe). - Order: For example, Home salad, coffee, expresso, Green tea, penne pasta.

After the last few reviews I read, we almost didn't go to Spago's again. We had tried the one on Talbot but it was closed at 9pm, so Spago's it was!
I hadn't been to Spago's for years, but it was great. I was surprised how dead it was at 9pm on a Friday night, but they were open till 10pm, and either way they were open until we were done!
The food was great. We both had Pasta entree's and they were fantastic! The bread was bad... Not that fresh, not authentic Italian at all, but it was free, so what the heck.
The salad's were a bit disappointing... No veggies really in them, just a spring mix type salad. The dressing was nice, nothing spectacular, but it was tasty.
The service was good, although the poor guy kept trying to be nicer after he asked us for ID when ordering wine (which I have no objection to). Could tell he was very nervous after that, and he was almost too nice. Better that than not nice!
I would definitely go back though, we had a great experience! Just wish they'd work on the salad/bread, and maybe light a candle on the table or something!

went to Spago for new years eve......we were highly disapppointed, the food quality was well below average. The worst part I guess was the place wasn't even that busy....when we asked to speak to the owner, a cocky young punk came to our table and told us HE was the owner and if we didn't enjoy the experience we were more than welcome to leave....and leave we did!!!!

Great Atmoshphere, Food was spectacular. The Salmon was prepared to perfection, the Calamari was by far the best in town, made fresh. Compliments were given to the chef and she was kind enough to come chat with us for a few minutes and shes a sweetheart. Will definately Visit again.

Was yet again extremely dissapointed in the quality of the food, apparently they do not even have an actual chef on staff, just a bunch of line cooks. A friend of mine is a chef and we were told to give the place another try, he said it may have changed since the last time we were there, it has not, apparently serving up poor quality pre frozen items via a mobile kitchen is thier biggest goal, individual family diners don't really matter, they only worry about the high volume, big numbers, and dont seem to concerned by the word of mouth advertising. But on the bright side, the bread was ok(kinda hard to screw that up)Will not go back, no more chances.

oh my god, what a horrible experiance. This restaurant was recommneded by friends, and I was really looking forward to a great meal......we were highly disappointed. The food was less AWEFULL and the service was not much better. The girl cooking our meals appeared to be 17-18 years old. When we asked to see the "CHEF" they pointed to the same 17-18 year old girl....what a JOKE
