  • After reading all the positive and negative reviews on this place, I would have to agree with TinaP. Where else do you find a family run restaurant in which case the owners or one of his family members personally greets you at the front door. I think that the slightly outdated decor can be overlooked considering their prices and quality of food. Although I haven't eaten at Golf's for a few months, if there ever is a milestone anniversary or birthday party, they are the first ones I call. Like TinaP said, you aren't in business for over 40 years and serve toxic food. Personally, I think they are best restaurant around.

  • I have been going to this establishment since I was a young child (about the last 25 years). It is the one place I can expect high quality food for a reasonable price. Not only do I enjoy going there for dinner and Sunday brunch (which is the most extensive one I have ever attended), I have had my wedding and first child's baptism receptions hosted by Golf's. I am looking forward to having another family event there in less than 2 months. Also, we served (and plan to serve) the Prime Rib at these events. It also happens to be my favourite menu pick. Not once, has Golf's food made myself, my family or any of the 160 guests at my events sick. In addition, I have been invited to numerous events held there and, again, not once has myself or my family been sick. I have 25 years of experience with the establishment. My proof is sound. So I would like to ask you a question and make a direct comment to your "review".
First, why would you go back to a place that made you, as you like to put it, "violently ill" before? If I was positive that an establishment made me "violently ill", I would never frequent the place again. Second, even if there was a slight chance that I might take your comments/ "review" under consideration - it would be erased for the simple fact that you can't even be bothered to spell broccoli correctly. Maybe you should consider thinking about what you are writing before you publish it. They have been in business for 35 years. You don't get that successful by giving your customers food poisoning. Your accusations are factious and slanderous - as you have no actual evidence. Have a nice day BobS

  • Order: I have tried nearly everything on this menu over the last 25 years.

  • This is the 2nd year we have gone to this restaurant to celebrate a family birthday and the 2nd time one of us has ended up violently ill. Both times each family member ate the prime rib dinner, with fries and broccali and both ended up barfing thier brains out within 4-5hrs of eating. Upon calling the management they deny everything, however it is just too much of a coincidence!! Do not eat at this restaurant or at least dont eat the prine rib. I will never take my family back again especially after the attitude of mangement. Health inspector will be getting a call for sure!

  • I used to work here at this restaurant. This has to be the dirtiest restaurant in town. Where to start? well the dishwasher for one is not cleaned, by the midlle of dinner service, the water is brown. Would you like that water to clean your plate? As for the food, some of it is good and some is not so much. For example, the salad bar is set up by one person who sticks their hand in every salad and puts the salad into a bowl (mixing with the salad that was out the day befor), their appetizers will sit for weeks befor being used. The steakes and the prime rib on the other hand, are amazing. There fresh, clean and stored properly. The vedgetables, are not washed (for salad bar, meals and apps) and are almost all frozen (with the exception of broccoli and asparagus). Also, the garlic bread is buttered by dishwashers who are wearing dirty clothing they sit on a bucket and throw the unbuttered bread into their lap and then throw it into one big bin. The mangement staff don't do anything about this. They know what is being done, they even pick the bread up off the floor and throw it into the bins as well.

Now as for brunch. The beef ribs are kept and stored in a fridge throughout monday - sunday morning. They are then placed out on the buffet with a watered down bbq sauce. The desserts, are all frozen and baught from mcain. The salad bar is still set up the same way. The home fries are peeled in a machine that is NEVER sanitized.

All in all, this is a very dirty restaurant. The only reason why I think that they havn't been shut down by the health inspector is because they bribe him/her with cash. The managers also underpay their employees, fire them if they refuse to work (death in family, sick etc), " forget to pay" time and a half on stat holidays and smoke ciggarettes inside the kitchen and storage rooms.

If you don't believe me, ask to see their kitchen next time you go into eat.

  • Order: brunch/ dinner menue

Isn't it common to be fired if you refuse to work? Also, I work in the food industry as well and it is not that uncommon to only get time and half on stats. Other than that--GROSS!!!

  • We were celebrating a milestone for my Mother who picked Golf's. I had my wedding reception there and hadn't been back since because of THAT bad experience.
Everything was over priced, over cooked and looked terrible on the plates.
Spend your money somewhere that deserves it.

  • A horrible experience at Golf 's!
10 of us to celebrate Valentines and an Anniversary. Upon entering the restaurant I was quite surprised to see that they didn't have much of an atmosphere or decoration for the occasion. It was pretty bland and unfestive. Hostess did not seat us but rather just pointed into a vague direction for us to find our party. Our table decor matched the bland surroundings, no flowers, no music not even a candle to dress up the table. No indication of any ambience or warmth that this was supposed to be a romantic setting for Valentines.
Once seated we ordered drinks and I noticed our Cocktails were left sadly undressed without any garnishes at all, not even a straw!
We ordered appetisers, and felt rushed through them, as dinner came before we had finished We all noticed how cold & windy it was around and above us. We started putting on our coats and noticed a cold air vent directly above us, blowing down on our heads & backs.A/C was on. Yet directly in front of us where we sat, was a big Fireplace dead and silent. Not even on for the ambiance, let alone a heat source. Remember it was a very cold mid February Ont. winter!
We asked the waitress if they could turn off the A/C so we could remove our coats while eating.
When we got up to sample the salad bar, we walked by it twice, not noticing the small table of which used to be their name to fame for the largest, grandest, Best Salad bar in town. Not any more by a long shot! We finally had to ask a waitress where it was and she pointed out that we were standing by it! It consisted of a very bland & poor selection of pasta, noodles, some lettuce, some Jell-O, oh did I mention the pasta and more pasta?
After staring at it in shock, we all passed on the pasta bar or what used to be called a “Salad Bar"
That was an insult to my eyes and appetite.
Once I got my Lobster meal, I poured the melted "butter?" on the 2 tails. I took one bite and spit it out into my napkin. This was not only Not Butter but some very over salted margarine!! My mouth was so corroded with salt that I could not rinse it out with the entire glass of water I had to swish and swallow with. Everything I tried to eat or sample after that was numb to my pallet. Everything was tasteless due to the overwhelming salt in my mouth. Who in their right mind serves salted butter (margarine) with Lobster!!! When I desperately waved down our waitress and explained this terrible "mistake" she advised my "Ok fine, I'll return it and get you another, But you're just going to get the same salty stuff we use on all our foods again!
She was right ...I got another dipping cup of salt. I couldn't help but wonder..Are the owners/Managers aware of this criminal food offense?
I was so appalled and sickened to the point I could not eat a thing after that. I did not eat my second tail as I thought I might be able to salvage what was an expensive piece of seafood at home by rinsing the life out of it, try to reheat. It was useless, the salt had completely soaked into the flesh. It was also ruined. I threw it into the garbage!
I've NEVER in my life gone to a Steak & Seafood place that drowns their seafood in SALT BUTTER!?NOT EVEN A DINER WOULD SERVE CHEAP SALTED MARGERINE ON LOBSTER! And they use this to cook with everything! What if you had a salt diet? Would they tell you that they do this to all their food whether you like it or not? NO WARNING! Beware if under Doctors orders to cut down on salt! BEWARE OF BAD SURPRISES! IT'S ALMOST CRIMINAL! Finally, the waitress got very antsy once close to finishing our meals, seemed to be rushing around us removed all items on our table including table cloth! Ok we get the hint. Still drinking our dinner wines to wash out my salt mouth. Should I ask to get it to go? They asked us to move to another table to finish, so they can reset our table!! THAT DID IT! SAVE YOUR $ AND A DISASTER EXPERIENCE! MACDONALDS IS CLASSIER!

  • Every time I go, the food is perfectly cooked and is always fresh. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about everything.
The problem is with the decor. It really needs to be brought into the year 2011.
Also - the food is usually a little bland for my tastes. I know a lot of older people like to dine here, however, I still wouldn't mind having the option to order something with a little flavour, spice, and/or heat!
Also - their brunch is absolutely amazing! I recommend it to everyone :)

  • Went on a Monday night and the wife was looking forward to the salad bar. What a dissapointment // they used to have the best salad bar around but that is not the case anymore. I had a prime rib which I must say was awsome. The wife had a stuffed chicken breast but there was not to much stuffing. (This item was over priced for what she got..) We will try it again on a weekend and hope that there is a better salad bar. Customers get used to certain things and if you start cutting corners you may see the customer disappear.

  • Order: Prime Rib & Stuffed chicken breast
