  • After seeing a note on the door saying they were away until February 15 due to an emergency in another country, I made a note to return soon after that date. Today I found out the place is shut down and watched as the equipment was auctioned off. Sadly there goes more downtown Kitchener independent restaurants the way of the do-do, I long gave up on Slice's deli after Nick and Lili sold it. A Sad day indeed.

  • Order: Couldn't, restaurant operation closed.

Not sad at all! The owners really let the restaurant deteriorate, and you could tell that business wasn`t good.

Make way for a new, non-chain, decent restaurant that downtown Kitchener desperately needs.

  • Came here with a large group for a lazy Sunday breakfast a while back. Not sure if I will return.

The food is mediocre to the extreme: not terrible, but not fantastic. Your standard greasy spoon fare here, folks. As for the service: slightly gruff, lacking any passion. Do I blame them when they probably have to deal with the lovely demographics of downtown Kitchener, or in our case, half a dozen sleepy partygoers, some nursing hangovers? Not really. That doesn't mean I have to return any time soon.

  • Order: Waffles, tea

Totally agree - mediocre is the best way to describe this place.

  • Adequate is a good word.
Nothing special. Decor is well below average. The owners need to sink some coin into the outside and the inside of the building. Empty wine bottles as decorations? Really? Especially with Crabby Joes down the street (which I forgot until I sat down), this place needs to step up.
The bun that my beef was on was an old hamburger bun. But the roast beef was fresh and thinly sliced, so I'll look past that. Soup was bland, I had to season it myself. My companion ate her salad and one of her quarters of sandwich.
The Walper has FANTASTIC food for the same price-in most cases cheaper. Go there instead.

  • Order: Clubhouse with Caesar Salad, Roast beef with chicken and rice soup

  • Perhaps I was a bit harsh when I wrote my first review of this restaurant. I ordered chicken souvlaki. A lttle bland and too overcooked for my liking, but still adequate. What they call 'tzatziki' sauce was just mere plain yogurt. I guess I am used to better Greek food. My colleague found a hair in his clubhouse. WHo knows, it could have been his, the waitresses or maybe the chefs - this stuff is bound to happen. They replaced it so all was well. Everyone elses food was pretty good, nothing to rave home about. It;s pretty impossible to screw up sandwiches and fries. This place is okay for a quick lunch, it has definitely improved since the new owners took over.

  • A bit like stepping back into 1979 when you enter, but it's reasonably clean and the staff are friendly and teh service good. It's an old school diner.
Conveniently placed on the corner in downtown Kitchener.
Food was fresh, pretty tasty (the jerk chicken was nice & spicy), but nothing to write home about.
    I may go back.

  • Order: jerk burger, house salad, fresh-cut fries, cola

  • We've been to Frederick's before, and found it was adequate. However, since last visit things have definitely slid. Although the place was only 1/2 full, it took 20-25 minutes before our order was served, and then it was just barely warm. The food was adequate - parts were actually quite good, but the bacon was barely cooked and sausage was overdone. Service was ok - but could have been more timely. No one asked how are meal was. I'd like to give this place another try because we like to support local eating establishments, especially in the downtown. Needs some big improvements to get me back anytime soon.

  • Order: Breakfast for 2: eggs, bacon/sausage, toast, coffee

  • I have been here before.. I remember the hame being different. Hahaha! My boyfriend and I compared it to something that looked like an ear peel. The eggs were good though... thouroughly cooked all the way through (Which suprisingly is hard to find)
For the price, I could probably just be more specific as to what I really want.
Th biggest thing was the ham. I didn't mind the waitress.

  • Order: breakfast special, eggs and ham with brown toast

  • Very good food. Excellent service. Large portions. Our sons, 15 and 13, liked the arcade area, which did get a little loud because of the smaller kids. Otherwise, very nice place.
