  • After Koi being in town for sometime now, and after many visits, I feel I can make an objective and fair review of the resturant.
I feel that Koi's sushi is very well prepared and tasty and I always enjoy eating in or taking out. The food is filling and the price range is very standard to the other sushi places I have eaten at before. Ive had sushi in windsor from a few places and feel that Koi is right up there with Iguna and Oiishi. But since I'm from Kingsville it saves me the trip up to Windsor or Essex for excellent sushi! The atomasphere is very calm and the waiters are poliet and prompt with your order. Furthermore the resturant is very clean, especially the bathrooms, and thats always a plus! The only annoyance is the whole no-debit thing, but banks are like 5 doors down, so really not a big deal. But in the future Koi staff is you read this, get some debit! Other then that, its great and I keep on going back for more!
oh P.S. the sushi guy is cute and super friendly!

  • I dont know if maybe i was spoiled by great sushi before, but the sushi i had was way below any sushi standard i have. i have never tried any cooked meals at this restaurant, i am only talking about the RAW sushi. i feel i left hungrier then when i had arrived. plus they did not have everything avaliable that was on their menu.

  • For a meal you can't get anywhere else, Koi Sushi is the place to go. Offering fully cooked non fish meals as well, its a fun place to be that is sure to win you over as well.

  • My first experience at Koi went well. I am not a seafood eater but did not feel intimidated and I ordered the coconut curry chicken. It was delicious. The atmosphere is quite nice. My only complaint: the waiter needs to quit smoking. Not a pleasant smell while eating!

  • I've visited Koi on several occasions so far. I live in Windsor and it's worth the drive out to Kingsville. The food is fresh and the chefs are friendly and very knowledgable. I recommend sitting at the bar to watch the chefs roll. Have to try a few sake bombs (Little cup of sake dropped into a rock glass of Japanese beer) but be careful they can creep up on you. :-)

  • When I first took my partner to Koi, she'd never eaten Sushi before, after her first experience she became an instant regular and it is now her preferred restaurant in town.

While the prices are a bit steep compared to other sushi places we save 20-30 bucks by not driving into Windsor and paying for parking so we still come out ahead.

Since our first visit the service has been consistently friendly and helpful. If you're new to sushi feel free to ask questions, all of our stupid questions were answered without embarrassment.

No debit is a bit of a bugger though.

  • Better bring extra cash in your wallets folks, because if you want to eat at Koi, it'll cost you. The sushi is mediocre at best. The reason everyone likes it so much is because it's their only option in such a small town.

I went there with my girlfriend and we had six rolls all together. Our bill came to $54!!!!!!!

Their lowest price for a sushi roll (besides the veggie rolls) is $7-$8, which is insane. Good places in the city charge around $5.99 for their cheapest. Also, their rainbow roll, which runs between $6-$8 at other places, was $13!!! And the fish they put on top didn't even look real. Almost as if they dipped it in food colouring.

The service was bad and the waiter smelled like cigarette smoke. They don't have debit. Who doesn't have debit?

I would never go to this place, and would never recommend anyone to either.

  • Order: California, sushi california, shrimp roll, rainbow roll

  • I have been to this restuarant a couple times now, the food itself is really good, however the service is sub-par. Sushi can be a bit difficult to order if your not familiar with it, so you would think that your server would help. Instead there was absolutely NO help and when we placed the order we ended up ordering over 20 rolls for 6 people..........You would think the server might fill you in that it might be a bit much. So as the food kept coming out her only comment was "well now you have left-overs". I have heard that this has happened there before from other fellow patrons.
If you know sushi the food is great because the chef knows what he's doing however the hospitality and servers need some training.

    I only get take-out now!

FYI Bring Cash or credit because they don't take debit.....(well they do you just have to pay a $1.50 service charge)

  • I discovered Koi when they first opened and have been back regularly time and time again. The food is second to none. Everything we've had there has always been delicious and best of all, its the kind of food that makes you feel good, its so good for you. Staff is great, service too. I can't wait to go back.

  • I stopped in for lunch. That's it, nothing more. Just checking the place out, you know. I had no idea that the atmosphere and hospitality would be so pleasant and professional, that I would take the afternoon off, and stay and visit with my new friends. My lunch was so tasty that I ended up having dinner there too, with absolutely no regrets. I'll definitely be back. TYKIKIHOHO
