  • I think one of the best chinese restaurants in the Kingston area. Food is superb and every time we have gone the service is outstanding. Only down side is we wish it had wine and beer service.

  • Order: Wonton soup, spring rolls, Gen Tao chicken, ginger beef, house fried rice, bbq pork, chicken with snow peas.

  • I want to start by saying, that Americanized Chinese food is a real big hit or miss for me (and most) - it's typically on the scale of 'alright - hands down greastacular, with a few gems such as Silver Wok sprinkled in as pretty delectable. I am an avid international food fan, haha, so I pride myself in enjoying my eating out experiences!

As far as Kingston is concerned, this is genuinely THE best spot in town for Chinese eat-in and take-out. I have been eating here for the past 8 years and I never ever tire of it, and I sincerely never enjoy any other local Chinese food as much as I do when I eat at this restaurant.

The prices are absolutely reasonable, and they have a large variety of sectioned dishes ranging from hotpot, schezwan, to the good ol' usual Chinese food selections. The menu's are easy to follow, they are sectioned off by varying types of food, and there is even a whole back section devoted to getting the bang for your buck while being able to sample different foods in the 'Special Combination Plate's' section (which include either a meat/rice/vegetable & egg roll or meat/rice & egg roll combination) most for under $10.

The portions are awesome, whether you dine in or out (though they are even bigger while dining in). The food is by no means as greasy as most take-out Chinese (which obviously varies depending on what you order - bacon friend rice is obviously going to be a tad greasy ;p), and the vegetables and meats are always cooked perfectly, never soggy or dry!

Some of my all time favorite main course options I suggest you try are the General Tao Chicken (especially eating in, it's super crispy and delicious, sprinkled with sesame seeds and can also be ordered in a Special Value Plate), Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice, the simple and delicious Beef & Broccoli, Sizzling Chicken w Satay Sauce, Schezwan Chicken, and Singapore Noodles.

The WonTon soup is great, however, my all time favorite is the Minced Chicken with Corn soup. When I'm sick, I go out of my way to order Silver Wok's Chicken Noodle Soup, which is also hands down tasty and always makes me feel better. Their eggrolls are good, but I prefer the veggie spring rolls which are even more excellent. =)

As for the service, it is always speedy, delivery or eat in, and the owners are wonderful. They recognize my fiance and I and always go out of their way to chat with us. We visit about once a month, but have been going for years. The servers are usually friendly, but everyone has their off days. Though I've never experienced rude service directed at me here, there have been times once in a while where a server has seemd stressed, or offbeat, but never unfriendly. So I really can't complain there. While it's busier, we always have our order taken within the first 5-10 minutes of sitting, and our starters are there in no more than 10 minutes after, followed by the main course about 5 minutes after the server has taken away your app dishes - and this is over 8 years - trust me, it's been consistently this great service wise.

All in all, as much of a rant as I've already given off, I couldn't encourage anyone more to experience Silver Wok if they're looking for delicious and well prepared local Chinese, which is why I wanted to go out of my way to share my love and experiences of Silver Wok. Hopefully this helps!

SIlver Wok also has all of their menu for eat in and take-out online. So give it a good browse through before you head in so you have an idea of what you'd like, there is a tonne to choose from!

I only gave 4 stars on the atmosphere, if we're being technical, Silver Wok isn't the most glamorous of restaurants - but it's clean, well maintained, and I don't go there for the scenery, I go there for the food and friendliness. So, hey. I'd give it 5 stars if I didn't feel I were dressing the aesthetics a little too much. ;) I'm kind of a keener.

    Enjoy!

  • Absolutely the best Chinese food in Kingston. Wonderful service. Food is always perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and exactly what a Chinese dinner should be. The veggies are crisp and not soggy like many Chinese places, the food is piping hot and it is not drowning in sauce. When ordering meat and veggie combinations, there is always lots of meat unlike other places. We love the food and the service!

  • Order: Cantonese chow mein, soo guy, beef and broccoli, spring rolls, wanton soup, chicken fried rice, veggie rice, lo mein, egg fu yon

  • The experience depicted in the review below is not the norm for this establishment. Every time I've had food there, i.e. take-out or dine-in I have found that I received a lot of tasty food at a low price: I always got what I ordered. In addition to the great value and taste, the service is always wonderful and fast. For example when picking up a take-out order it has always been ready (less than 10-15mins every time), and my girl friend and always have a friendly conversation with the server. In fact thinking about silver wok makes me want to go there right now..... yeah think I'll head there right now.

  • Order: Special combo J is my favorite (Beef Saytay with Chicken Fried Rice), comes with complimentary, made-in-house spring role.

  • Worst service possible. I waited for almost an hour for my food. Got the wrong order. Waitress did not apologize, did not tell the owner or manager to assist us. She took the food and is like, oh w/e, let me go tell kitchen to get you the right food in the worst tone possible. Then we went to speak to the owner, and she literally showed this is the last thing she cares about us and walked away. HORRIBLE SERVICE!never going back again.

  • worst service! First of all they made us wait for 45 minutes to bring just the starters. We found chicken pieces in their vegetarian dishes. All of us ordered only vegetarian dishes so there was no place for confusion. And on top of all this the waitress behaved too rude to us. She didn't even bother to inform this to their head cook or the manager. None of them (neither the waitress nor the manager) apologized to us. Very very bad service. Will never go back there ever again.

  • Great food and service. The people there are really nice and remember my order even if I haven;t been there in awhile. You can really taste the quality in their dishes and until recently I didn't know that they never cook anything until it's ordered, which explains why I have a bit of a wait when they're really busy!

  • The is the absolute BEST chinese food that I've ever had. It's definitely my favourite, and it's the one I always crave. I always get the same order, so I can't personally comment on their other dishes, but I have heard great things from friends. Everything is always really fresh and flavourful, and you get quite a good value for your money. One dish gives me at least two meals. Delivery is also fast and affordable. Definitely recommended overall.

  • Order: Black bean tofu with mixed vegetables, Mixed vegetable chow mein
