  • When we first walked in I wasn't sure if the restaurant was able accommodate 8 people. The server was able to quickly put two tables together without obstructing the pathway near the cash.

The server was also able to answer questions, but mentioned people's interpretation of spicy was a personal thing. Substitutions were allowed.

I was expecting a little more of #6. When they say grilled meat I was not expecting the same meat they put in the stir-fry be just put on a flat grill and crisped up.

The stir-frys were tasty, and a good deal. My husband's aunt enjoyed her dish with the grilled shrimp.

The spring rolls were very tasty, but I would of liked to substitute a grilled meat instead of shrimp in the Salad Rolls.

Would I come again? Maybe. The price point is pretty good for the serving size, although the online menu should be update to reflect the price changes.

  • Saigon Delights has the most consistently satisfying and reasonably priced meals in town. Although a fan of the #6, as are most of my friends, the daily specials, especially spicy ones, are a special bonus.

Unqualified recommendation for any Asian food lovers.

  • Order: spicy Udon special, and #6 with pork.

  • I visit Saigon Delights often. My favorite dish is the # 5, the sping rolls are always very crispy and hot, and all the ingredients are very fresh. I keep meaning to order something different, but this meal is just so good.

  • Order: Spring rolls, #5 (Bun Cha Gio)

  • I have been a longtime customer of Saigon Delights, and even though the atmosphere and the quality have changed, I am still happy with what their menu. Their soups and spring rolls are excellent, I always bring some home to my kids and they love them. The owners are very friendly, and the food is always cooked hot. Excellent restaurant, but not as popular as it used to be. I will still continue to go there.

And to the comment below a few spaces, you do not have to be Vietnamese to cook Vietnamese food.

  • Order: Soup, spring rolls

  • I used to be rather enamoured of Saigon Delights soups, but in the past few years it seems they've slowly gone a bit downhill. Gone are the days of large helpings of chicken & cuttle fish with loads of cilantro and beansprouts -- the soups are now mostly noodle and somewhat bland due to a complete lack of cilantro.

I mean, at the price (under $8) it's a tough bill to beat in Kingston, but still -- I'd rather they raise the price and keep the quality than keep the price and lose the quality.

Anyway, I hear they've jigged the menu a bit, so I'm likely to try it again in the future. I'm just in no rush.

  • Our favourite restaurant in Kingston. Very friendly (they know what we want when we walk in), very accommodating to any changes we want in our meals. Food is always hot and delicious. Best Vietnamese food in town. My friends come to Kingston just to eat there.

  • Order: Tofu rolls, #13 green curry with bok choy (I ask for tofu...they don't mind, usually it comes with chicken), spring rolls, #6 vermicelli noodles with pork and veggies

  • Solid food for cheap. Service is timely enough, but unimportant really. I find their spicy dish is quite good. Fresh veggies and nice spicing. The best value-for-money southeast Asian meal in Kingston.

  • Order: #6 and #11.

  • The rolls were simple, lettuce cucumber noodles and shrimp; lacking a bit of flavor. The pho was also not that tasty, broth itself was very bland and it didn't come with thai basil.

  • Order: Pho and the shrimp fresh rolls

  • The Food:
The food was pretty bad, especially considering it was their 'house special'. I'm not sure if the cook was off that day or what... but the spring rolls were chewy and soft, the grilled pork was overcooked to a crisp (and mildly tough and chewy) and the noodles were a little too hard and dry for good vietnamese 'Bun'. The lettuce was good and the peanuts were crunchy though. The price was reasonable, as most vietnamese food is, but it was more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants in other locations.

    The Atmosphere:
Not very classy, one of the more 'run-down' looking Viet places I've been to... could have been considered cozy and a place I would refrequent if the food was good...

    The Comparison:
This is the worst vietnamese "Bun" I've eaten. Comparisons are from London, Ont (Ben Thanh) and Hamilton, Ont (B&T, Saigon Asian).

    The Conclusion:
A disappointing first impression of Viet food in Kingston. I may try again to see if it was just an off day... Perhaps I'll give their Pho a try.

  • Order: #6 Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong - "The House Specialty" (Vietnamese rice noodles, spring rolls, and grilled pork, topped with fresh greens and roasted peanuts)
