  • We went to Tramonto for a early birthday dinner for my wife on a Saturday night at 6:30. We were seated very quickly but waited 10 - 15 minutes before our server came by to ask about a drink order. Although the menu is fairly extensive, covering all the usual Italian fare, we were surprised that there was no fish entree on the menu and that there were no evening specials. Appetizers arrived within an appropriate time for a busy restaurant (more staff should have been working - 3 wait staff + plus hostess for 15 - 20 tables). We both ordered a shrimp dish which was excellent. Bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar was not presented to our table, we asked for it twice before we got it with our entrees. Bread would have been good to soak up the garlicly wine and butter sauce on the shrimp. We rarely order the same entree, but we both ordered the veal scallopine with proscuitto and fresh sage (which was a little overpowering). The entrees were excellent. For dessert, my wife had triamasu and I had a chocolate caramel sundae, both were very good. The tables are relatively small so our wine bucket was placed on the floor (perhaps some stainless steel wine bucket holders would be in order). We will return but not on a Saturday night in the summer as we got caught in the pipe band parade down Queen Street which closes the street for close to an hour!

  • Order: shrimp with wine sauce, veal scallopine with proscuitto & sage

  • I tried this new restaurant for the first time and was very impressed. I was surprised what they were able to do with the old Sunset restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful, with a melding of colours and textures that make for a quaint, warm dining environment. It felt like we had stepped out of Kincardine and into Italy.

Our waiter was an expert of his craft. He was extremely friendly, and made jokes with us at the table. I would say he is a great part of what made this an excellent evening. We were all first time diners of this establishment and he was able to answer all our questions about different dishes and wines.

We had a reservation and were seated right away. Shortly, we ordered and received a kind of sampler appetizer plate with an assortment of crackers, meats and cheeses as well as grapes and other goodies. This was an excellent pre meal sampler. Everything was good and allowed some of us to try meats and cheeses we may not have had before.

Our meal orders did take quite a bit of time to come, but we were content as we were enjoying each other's company and had appetizers. I ordered the pesto spaghettini and it was delicious. It was perfectly al dente, with a good amount of pesto, and an assortment of fresh fried vegetables. I can't wait to try it again next time I am in town.

  • Order: Pesto Spaghettini

  • I went with a friend and we waited until someone noticed us for 5 to ten minutes. Our waiter was stuffy and pretentious. He was practically ignoring us for the bigger tables giving them the best service. He was also impatient with me as I had never been there before and I was asking questions. The food was not good it was dry and the potato hash was outrageously spicy, I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. The caesar sald was two huge leafs which were browned and a bit of dressing and a tiny bit of bacon! Ridiculous. Kincardine is known for it's snobbiness and this restaurant doesn't help!

  • Order: Chicken with vegetables and a caesar salad
