Books and Beans

So, I checked out a coffee house in Hanover because a friend had raved about it.

Well, after 1/2 an hour there I left asking the question "Is that it?!?"

I didn't know what to order first of all, since Books & Beans makes it simple for me (and if you are a coffee drinker and you need a fix... keeping it simple for your customers is safe when you are a retailer), and I just stood there for a minute...

"Uh I usually get a large medium at my regular coffee house so, whatever that is here". They served it up and the girl said "for next time, that's called a Kenya" or something like that, I can't even really remember now since I didn't plan on returning.

It was dull, dark, and a decor that was a failed attempt at being worldly. I felt no 'atmosphere' no 'positive energy' that I feel at Books & Beans.

It was the first of December and not a single holiday decoration in sight, not even some boughs of evergreen or holly- very dull. It reminded me of when I was a kid and going into the lawyers office- be very quiet and behaved, surrounded by dark woods and polished metals. Not my idea of relaxing.

I can say for certain, that should that coffee house chain ever come to Kincardine (like we need another 'coffee' shop- Books & Beans is different with books and internet and art) that I won't be patronizing them... Either way... Books & Beans will continue to receive my unwaivering devotion as my favourite coffee house.
