  • We had heard good things from Co-workers and on the internet, so we decided to try it out on my mom's birthday.
My mom started off with an incredibly salty noodle soup. Everyone else got a nice light salad. The schnitzels were good for my brother and I. But my mom's side dish was mixed up with my dad's. Both my parents didn't enjoy their dinner. Especially my mom who had another extremely salty dish. My dad's dish had included a side of cold, unappetizing weird looking noodles. His meat was mediocre. Not impressing, saying we drove about 25 minutes just for this restaurant. We would've been better off with a home cook meal.. Honestly not worth your time.

  • Order: Cordon Bleu Shnitzel, Vienna Shnitzel, Rinzroulandin, Some kind of beef with gravy

  • My Wife and I and two other couples had a belated Christmas get together last night at this restaurant. The one couple suggested coming here as they had been there before and enjoyed it . We were all really impressed with the service , atmosphere and of course the meals. I'll not repeat what has already been said in previous reviews but the meal was terrific and lots of it . The ladies all had to take home leftovers as they couldn't finish theirs. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

  • You go for the food, period!

Obviously prepared by people who care about what they do. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Can't say enough.

As for the atmosphere....i guess you can't blame the restaurant for the behaviour of the customers. It was a family birthday party, loud, classless and I am sure ruined the dinner for more than a few diners.

People, if you want to carry on like that, you should hold these events at your home.

All that said, we'll make this a regular stop - you just cant beat the quality of the food.

  • Order: Vienna, Courdon Bleu, Strudel

  • This is easily my new favorite restaurant. My boyfriend took me here today after reading some great reviews. When we first arrived we were greeted by a very kind waitress who led us to a spot. The atmosphere of the entire place was just like the way I pictured a cute German bar in Germany. Many things to look at on the walls and very nice.

My boyfriend ordered the hunter schnitzel with a beer and I had the Germania schnitzel with a pop and we both got breaded mushrooms. The waitress switched over to a male waiter who was also very kind. He brought us bread before the meal started which I thought was nice.

The mushrooms were brought out and much to our surprise they were HUGE. The plate had a ton of mushrooms on it with a homemade sauce. Then we got our mushroom soup which tasted great and was a large portion. When our meals came it was a large portion and loaded with mushrooms (which we loved). The vegetables it came with were made good, the schnitzel was made to perfection and you could really tell everything was not only hand made, but there was some real love in their cooking.

We would loved to of tried the dessert, however we were too full to even try it. We had enough leftovers for another meal and the price was very reasonable for the amount of food we got.

I will be going back here and I will recommend this place to everyone I know. Also a little tip, book reservations. When we got there they only had 2 seats left and because it is a smaller area, it is better to make reservations.

  • Order: Hunter schnitzel, breaded mushrooms, germania schnitzel, beer, pop mushroom soup.

  • We went there for the 1st time last night. We were overdressed, it's a nice casual, family place. Small enough that you can interact with other families. I had the Hunter style schnitzel, Hubby had the Vienna schnitzel. (The portions would feed a third world country for a day!!!) The food was fabulous!! Our waitress was terrific, friendly and fast!!! For dessert we tried the banana chocolate cheesecake, absolutely scrumptious!! We will definitely go again!!!

  • Order: Vienna schnitzel, Hunter schnitzel, banana chocolate cheesecake.

  • We go there for lunch ... often (on Wednesday).
We always order the daily special:
    Rye bread
    Soup-of-the-day or salad-with-house-dressing
Hunter schnitzel with Spätzle (which is HUGE and smothered with a rich mushroom sauce).

The decor is fascinating, the staff friendly and (of course!) the food is phenomenal.

  • Order: the daily special :^)

  • I'm not a big fan of Austrian cuisine but this place really impressed me. The food is quite good, fulfilling and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is great and enhance further by the owner and a few regulars who were quick to explain some of the more interesting decor items :) I definitely recommed Zum Linzer (even if Spatzle isn't my all-time favourite)

  • Order: Spatzle, Schnitzel and a few other things I cannot pronounce.

  • Went to try this place on recommendations here, it was really good! The prices were surprising, quite a good value for the great food they serve. We had a fantastic waitress and the manager (owner?) even helped us avoid a parking ticket.

Between our party of 4, we got to sample two kinds of schnitzel, the saurbraten, a nice trout, the breaded mushrooms, and apple strudel. All were great, the portions are enormous! Would definitely go back, hopefully soon!

  • Order: lots!

  • This little resto was very busy on the Friday evening that we visited, so we ended up eating at the bar.

Appy, meal, and beers, and we got out of there for 25 bucks each. We lingered at the bar, and were treated to a serving of steak tartare just prepared by the chef for his own dinner. Fantastic!

Fantastic experience, I will be returning soon.

  • Order: Saurbraten, spatzle, red cabbage, house salad, steak tartare

  • My family comes here all the time, It's the closest you can get to authentic Austrian/German food in Hamilton. Everything is homemade and delicious.

Its a very small place, so reservations are necessary. Decorated like a small European restaurant, Zum Linzer isn't overly fancy but the food is fantastic.

The portions are huge, I always get a second meal out of my portion, and all dinner entrees come with a homemade soup or salad with excellent homemade creamy dressing.

The menu is quite expansive for being such a small place, and everything I've tried has been enjoyable. It is authentic European cooking, so they do use butter and salt. If you're looking for a very health-conscious meal, go somewhere else. If you want a meal that reminds you of your Grandmas cooking, then you must try it here!

Both their appetizers, the baked Camembert and the fried mushrooms are excellent, not greasy at all despite being friend. After trying probably half the menu, I've decided the rindsrouladen is my personal favorite, and now order it every time, but my family always varies their order and we are never disappointed. The only time there's food left on the plate is when we are too full to possibly eat anymore!

Also, I put the price at $26-60, but to be honest we always get an app to share, two dinners, and a beer each and the bill ends up around $50. Extremely reasonable price. The service can sometimes be slow, but not noticeably so. There's usually only 1 server for the 10 table dining room, but its really more of a relaxed pace, and gives you time to digest between courses!

  • Order: Camembert, Fried Mushrooms, Beer, Beef Vegertable Soup (soup of the day), and Rindsrouladen
