We where a large party that all enjoy some good Sushi, It never disappoints. For great all you can eat sushi there is no better place then Sushi star. Service is ok. If you order a lot of items they need to be reminded to bring them out. However overall the service is great. I would highly recommended to anyone for a great night out.

After checking the mix of reviews here, I decided to give it a try. Very happy with that decision. Of the 3 'AYCE' Japanses restaurants I've tried in Hamilton, I like this the best (followed by Sapporo and August).
I like that their sakura (called 'salmon rose' at the other places) is smaller because a bit less rice is used. The BBQ eel pizza is excellent (not made with dough, but rather lightly deep-fried rice).
I've not had any major problems with service in 3 visits now.
Other than some awkwardness with finding parking, this is now my first choice for this type of cuisine.

I used to go to sushi star a lot, at LEAST 2-3 times a week, until i was waiting for my sweet potato rolls and i look over and the lady dropped them on the floor put them back on the plate and SERVED IT TO US.
I said "Um i saw you drop those on the floor and put them back on the plate"
She then said "no they are still good" i replied with "are you kidding me" she walked away and we got up and left the place.

Like everyone has said, the service is just terrible.
Most of the time we OVER order hoping we'd get half that order. Its rather disappointing because they forget things and by the end of it, you're too full to point it out.
The drinks are not free anymore so make sure you are aware of that and YES you do have to get it yourself.HOWEVER, with all these con's- Sushi star still has the best sushi out of all the Hamilton all you can eat ones. Sushi star was one of the first ones to come out with all you can eat and my friends and I started going there almost 4 years ago. We stopped going after a while because the waitresses were always so rude, if you ever notice, their turn over rate is very high! Anytime you go there, theres a new waitress so perhaps the management ( if you are reading this ) you need to invest in good ones and rather then over working them for 10 hrs ( the lunch crew is same as dinner crew if you ever noticed ) they may be happier and have a smile on their face rather then a sourpuss face.

Addicted to dragon roll and BBQ eel pizza. Excellent food and spotless restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the new menus make it easier for someone new to order.

Excellent AYCE Sushi experience in Hamilton
Have eaten in many AYCE Sushi restaurants in the GTA; many are sub standard. Sushi Star stands out as a superior experience.
Facility: A small neighbourhood restaurant, bright and modern asian inspired decore; clean.
Food: For AYCE this place does a VERY GOOD job at executing flavorfull and inspired menu. Nothing too grand (this is AYCE) but very well done. Food taste and quality is better than most AYCE.
Service: Getting better, but room for improvement. Staff seemed to be focusing more on the customer, offering basic courtesy (please/thank you/your welcome). Agree with previous reviews - service was poor, however while there is still room for improvement, things are looking up.
Overall a greate experience and value - would definitly recommend

This is the 2nd best place to eat All-You-Can-Eat Sushi in Hamilton.
SushiStar provides a great variety of items to order on its menu (more than Sapporo Restaurant). They also allow you to have one free pop drink per person. Everything that I have ordered on their menu has been delicious...from sushi rolls, noodle bowls, meat dishes, etc. I also like the fact that they provide more flavours of ice cream than Sapporo Resataurant.
The only complaints I have about this place is that the waitresses have noticible trouble with the English language and one of them in particular was extremely rude to me (for no apparent reason). Also they do not provide you with free parking.
When going to eat sushi buffet in Hamilton, I alternate with August 8 (my favourite) and Sushi Star =). I would definitely reccommend people to give this place a try!

Foods is good for a Hamilton location. There is no free pop anymore with your meal. We were not aware of this change until we got the bill. Service is varies. Some workers are moderate, some give attitude when THEY mess up on your order. They really need to improve their customer service skills. A little smile here and there wouldn't hurt. The price is reasonable and average compared to other jap restaurants in Hamilton and GTA.

Sushi Star is a hit w/ my family members less acustomed to sushi as they serve great alternitives such as yaki-udon and excellent tempura. Generally the sushi is good but not great (sapporo has better sushi, but is less consistant) and though it seems fresh, you get what you pay for (which at 15$ isnt a lot in terms of fish). Service isnt good...but its not as bad as sapparo and often thats not saying much. The free drink is good, but they dont tell you, you have to get it on your own...so you could leave w/out even knowing. Its a nice place but isnt really anything special. Lots of weird people come here (in my experiances) but its usualy a good atmosphere.
- Order: Lunch Buffet: Spider Rolls, Spicey Tuna, Yaki-udon
