  • I can't help but think the previous review was written by the owner of the restaurant. Although everything was quite satisfactory (as it should be given the prices), there was nothing exceptional about the food, service or atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was competent and considerate, albeit a bit slow. The atmosphere was o.k. if you like watching traffic at a busy intersection from the inside of a renovated bank. I really have no complaints about the place, but for similar prices you can do better both here and in Toronto (i.e. Lo Presti's)

Price does not always give you a satisfactory meal.... I have only found a few restaurants in Hamilton to compare... Quatrefoil, and Couryard on Locke are two that come to mind and the latter not so much....Do tell of these higher rated place....

  • Seven Windows is a restaurant worthy of receiving stars in the Michelin Food Guide. A very tall statement to be sure, but one I can make with every confidence.

My girlfriend and I initially went there a few weeks back for a special dinner. From the moment you walk in you don't feel as though you're in Hamilton at all. Rather, you're transported to a classical, yet contemporary atmosphere where your senses begin to be awakened.

Our host, Vanessa, was an absolute gem who took the time required to get to know us and our backrounds in a very organic and fluid way. There wasn't anything overbearing to it at all. In fact, it's fair to say that it was more altruistic than anything else.

Menu options are not extensive, nor do they need to be (they do change every few weeks). From the appetizers to the main courses and desserts---each course is treated with the utmost care and attention to detail that is often lacking in other restaurants that pruport to be of this calibre.

Standouts with the apps were the Lobster bisque and Caesar salad. The absolute richness in taste and flavour and presentation only helps to build the anticipation for the mains.

The mains do not disappoint. They superceded all expectations and if you are prepared for an explosion of rich and complimentary flavours that seem to hit you in waves, you'll begin to appreciate the care and dedication that went into each dish.

Portions at Seven Windows are more than ample. And I'm of the personal opinion that if they were any bigger one would experience sensory overload. A nice problem, to say the least.

Service was quite good and our server was attentive when he needed to be.

My girlfriend and I have enjoyed Seven Windows so much we have gone back several times in the last month and a half and we will usually run a $150-175 dollar bill with drinks. Considering the other dining options in Hamilton...or even Toronto for that matter, dining here is not as expensive an option as some may make it out to be.

Do yourself a huge favour. Take your loved one or family to Seven Windows. You will be enjoying as pure and evocative dining experience as one is likely to have.

    Thank you Seven Windows...

  • Seven Windows, well what can we say, you were my first what I would call fine dining experience, and exceeded all my expectations.

Just read the last review, and its unfortunate some people dont appreciate charm, the art of being a server is often lost by dull policies and scripted behaviour, I truly enjoyed the older gentleman who entertained me and my date for the evening, he was charming and left us "first timers" feeling warm and took the pretenciousness myth away. I will actually say he was the best waiter I've ever had at any restaurant.

The food I will wholeheartedly agree with most reviewers and say amazing. I had a chicken ceasar salad to begin and my date had the garden salad, and we both agreed great, and my meal was delicious and fairly well timed when it came. They also were kind enough to accomodate my vegetarian date by cooking a pasta dish a little different and it turned out to be fantastic.

Dessert was dessert, it was nice, but by the end of this meal my mind was kind of on other things. I would highly reccomend trying out Seven Windows, be sure to make reservations first though.

Oh and the place looks modern and bright - very well done and a tip of the hat to the designer.

  • We have been to this restaurant numerous times and have had issues with the level of service in the past but this visit was by far the worst service we have had in a very long time. We dine out at different fine dining establishments every Saturday and know what good service should be. We were a group of 6 and 1 couple arrived a few minutes before us and I assume they were seated. We came in and waited a little too long and proceeded to seat ourselves. Our waiter Ross came to our table made small talk and then walked away, no drink orders and no water. He came to our table again and proceeded again to tell a small story and we then had to suggest to him that we wanted to order pre-dinner drinks. He delivered our drinks and menus, told us the appetizer and dinner features and then walked off again, no water offered and no bread. I only assumed that bread should have come due to butter dishes on the table. Then after quite some time he came back to take our order. Still no water and still no bread!!!! We ordered and I had to ask him directly for water and bread which finally came to our table about 30 seconds before our appetizers. I will say that the food is fantastic and that is the only reason we have returned to this restaurant even after poor, painful and inadequate service in the past. But after this visit we will not be returning again. Ross needs to know when to shut up. We are out to dinner to visit with our friends , NOT HERE HIS numerous LONG WINDED STORIES!!!!!! It was truly painful and we should not have to direct him in order to get decent service at these prices. He ruined our nice evening out. We have learned our lesson with this restaurant.

  • I was a little let down when I went here for my father's birthday last year. The decor is lovely, and the staff were very genuine and friendly but the menu failed for me. I didn't expect it to have many vegan/vegetarian options, but when going to a classy restraurant one expects that they can make an accomodation if they don't have something readily avalible. Pasta or a stirfry or something, I`m honestly not hard to please. I have a fine time eating vegan at steakhouses when that is where my family wants to eat. However I can`t say that I was able to do that here.

Seven Windows was out of pasta that day, which seemed bizarre to me, considering it was on their menu. Which was printed off making it seem temporary. You would have thought that they would have taken the pasta dish off the menu and reprint it out. The chef whipped up a risotto mushroom dish for me that was sub-par, not very flavorful and not very satisfactory for the price of the place. The appetizers and salad weren`t memorable. In fact the only thing I remember about them was that the portions were tiny.

    Big meh from me.

  • Compared to other restaurants of fine dining this one simply didn’t. Atmosphere was very nice, courteous and polite server but not up to the level the restaurant is attempting to purvey. Server spilled our red wine, had to change the tablecloth – ok, happens but no offer to replace the glass of wine. Peppercorn steak was so unbelievably salty I couldn’t finish it, half my dish was on the plate and when I informed the server he said “I’ll tell the chef” and again, no offer to regain my satisfaction. The seafood linguini was quite good, the French Onion soup was good, but very traditional and nothing special, like one a good home cook could prepare. If you want local fine dining I’d recommend Quatrefoil in Dundas, or the crème de la crème, Blacktree in Burlington. We will not be back to Seven Windows, the Keg was better!

  • i have been to seven windows twice now so i will give my review based on both experiences. first time was for a 60th birthday there was 7 of us and we had a nice booth by a window. the restaurant is not easy to find if you dont know what you are looking for there is no sign just an adress so im thankful we asked for that before we went. this restaurant is lovely tho the washrooms were spotless which is a must for me. Now on to the food we had starters ranging from french onion soup and wild mushrooms on toast presentations were very nice. main courses were chicken with jumbo shrimp in a tumeric sauce with seasonal veggies , rack of lamb with stuffed potato fillet of beef and one of the fish specials which happened to be the red mullet that day. every thing was wonderful the only problem is if you have a fav the menu changes regularly so it may not be there the next time you go but that may not be a problem based on the prices this would not be a place id visit on any old day of the week. my second visit was also good my father and i went just us two we share the pheant spring rolls i was a little hesitant as to how they would taste but they were wonderful. at $17 im glad we shared tho. my dad had the fillet of beef which was served with polenta wild mushrooms roasted beats califlower and a red wine sauce. his only complaint was his fillet was a touch over cooked and in a 5 star place it should have been perfect. I had there special which was crab cakes with a beet pure wilted arugula and a shaved fennel salad on top the fennel salad and arugula were amazing. The crab cakes were not he best ive ever had but very tasty. so if you have a special occasion or you just feel like going to a nice place with interesting dishes on the menu then its worth a try.

  • If you have a very special occassion or want to experience the best fine dining in Hamilton this is the place to go.
Simple elegant decor, unique menu, professional service.
Only thing that was annoying was the background music was Bocceli our server was quick and in agreement of our displeasure and changed to something more appropriate to their atmosphere.
Bottom line we love this resaurant.

This restaurant is Hamilton's GEM! What a wonderful culinary experience. THis is the place to go for your special occassions!
Expect to pay more but enjoy every penny. This restaurant is the closest we have in Hamilton to a New York,NY / Manhattan experience!
Elegance but not over stated, not stuffy and old fashioned, food is excellent and is the best restaurant in town that truly caters to Celiacs/gluten intolerant individuals. Their sauces are reductions.
Last visit: We had the Pickerel special it was heavenly.
I hope that 7 Windows remains the same great experience for all that visit for a very long time. Great work!

  • A sign would have helped altho' Google maps it accurately. Parking isn't signed either but it's right next door and OK for evening dining if you get there early enough. Service was attentive, nonintrusive and humorous adding to the evening. Range of wines by the glass or bottle was just adequate but pricey to match the menu - but gotta say for a once-in-awhile special dining the meals were excellent. For decor, the newness shows and will likely be less open ie. more private as reputation grows. The bill showed some minor inconsistency with our order - may have been a coding thing at the cash. The female server's perfume clashed with our meals.
