  • I've been to this restaurant many times and from my experience, I can say that when you order a lot, they cut your order where ever they can. On multiple occasions, I was brought the wrong order of soup. Service needs a bit of an improvement because I had to wait approximately 15 minutes for them to refill my tea cup. Otherwise, the sushi is delicious and the portions are fair.

  • I love this place because of its food!!! The really bad thing about this restaurant is that the price is way, way to expensive. It is $21 by itself per adult!!! I think thats way to much for sushi.

  • I can't believe how disappointing this place was. I have been to numerous sushi restaurants and the service here was below average (waitress even poured hot tea onto my husband's foot and just shrugged when he complained). Sushi rolls were tiny and lacked flavour. Will not return.

  • Order: Unagi, salmon sushi, crispy spicy rolls & miso soup.

  • I go to sushi buffets a lot and very frequently. I used to eat at Sapporo very often before I discovered Sushi Star and August 8 in Hamilton. Now that I have eaten at much better All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Restaurants, I can see many problems and faults with Sapporo. First of all, although at most Sushi Restaurants, the staff is usually not fluent in English…I’d have to say Sapporo is the worst. I have never been to a place where the waitresses (I have not had significant problems with the male wait staff) have messed up my orders on so many occasions: I was either brought items that I did not order, or many of the things I asked for just never came. Furthermore the waitresses are often quite rude and pretend not to see you when you are trying to order more items. Since most of their customers are English speaking they really need to work on hiring people that can actually speak and understand the language.

Secondly, I find their food is of somewhat low quality. The miso soup that they serve (on every occasion) tastes as if there is bleach or detergent in it…it tastes absolutely revolting. On one occasion when I ordered tempura shrimp, it came to my table cold and stale. Lastly, I find that their non-sushi items such as udon/rice are of low quality and are made with a poor recipe. Regarding other aspects of the restaurant, although they provide free parking, I have encountered on many occasions that the parking lot is constantly full.

The only good things I have to say about this place is that it is cheaper than August 8 (not sure if it is cheaper than Sushi Star?) and that their lunch menu ends at 3:30 which is half an hour later than the others. Honestly if you are going to go for sushi buffet, go to Sushi Star or August 8. I guarantee you will get a much better experience. I can confidently say that I will not be eating here anytime soon. (Note: Although my review is quite negative, Sapporo is not a horrible restaurant. My personal experiences there recently have been rather unsatisfying because I have found that there are much better sushi buffet places to go to in Hamilton!)

  • Order: miso soup, salad, tofu, various sushi rolls, hand rolls, salmon, udon noodles, green tea ice cream

  • I used to go here often with parties (2-6 people) after school for some decent sushi, but I have always had an issue w/ service there. Sometimes service is excellent and you get nice-sized portions and the service is very good and very helpfull, most times its unattenetive and hard to get anything ordered. My girlfriend often orders miso and has YET to receive an order of it (even after repeatidley asking every time we go). One time before me and my friends left for our co-ops we decided to make a reservation for 5 and had waited an hour to get seated and another 20 min. for food - the only reason we did get seated was because we stated loudly we would go elsewhere. Decor is nice and its very clean. The last time I whent I got a bad order and Im not sure if Ill return if I can find better sushi in Hamilton.

  • the waitresses were awesome; filled our glasses, had tones of napkins and asked if everything was good about 4 times.

the food although, great but it seemed to fall apart.

it was good that if you paid cash they would give you 5% OFF. that was pretty cool. \the place was clean

  • Great customer service, a clean and bright restaurant with lots of good food! We thought it was helpful that in the menu there were photos of each item. Drinks and napkins were refilled quickly. The bathroom was clean and modern.

I had never had an onion tempura roll before. I thought it was pretty good. I compared it to being like the onion ring of the sushi world. My only issue was that the sushi seemed to fall apart easily.

The prices are pretty good for all you can eat, and a 5% discount is applied when you pay in cash.

I've since found somewhere I like better, but I wouldn't turn my nose up to Sapporo.

  • I am baffled both by the amazing quality of everything at this Restaurant, and by these other reviews. At least one of them is inaccurate as the bill could never be more than 40 dollars for two people (not including alcohol). Most certainly not 80 to 90 dollars. This IS an all you can eat restaurant. Now it is very, VERY popular so occasionally they will forget an order due to how busy it is, so come early (before 4 if you are getting dinner). Even when they are at full capacity, they are prompt with their service.

The staff are the best I have ever encountered at a restaurant. They actually encourage you to order many, many things. They are also very helpful in telling you what is popular and what you may want to try.

While I am not a Sushi connoisseur, I can tell quality and the Sushi there is great. Hand rolls are very tasty as well. Their soups are excellent appetizers as they are not too big, but enough to prepare your stomach for the coming feast.

If you're looking to sample a great deal of Japanese (and some Korean) cuisine, that is of high quality and at a great price - then come here. Don't listen to the detractors here, some of them aren't even giving the courtesy of a proper explanation.

If you order a lot, it will come to you and you'll be pleased. Order a little and then expect to be filled by it...then of course you will be disappointed. As for the staff ignoring people? It is, as I've already said, a very busy and popular restaurant. They will deal with you as much as they can once you get there, but as more people arrive, they have to do the same for them.

Again, I'm not sure how there could be any mistake of how big the portions are as nearly everything on the menu has a very tasteful picture beside it.

I am bringing a large group (30 ppl) to this restaurant for a meeting of my organization in the next few weeks. I certainly trust Sapporo to take care of us.

P.S. I think people need to take another look at the "Please review responsibly" before they click submit.

  • Order: Most things on the menu, most notably the Udon, sirloin beef with spring onion, California Roll, Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, White tuna sashimi

  • We absolutely loved that place. That is not a fancy restaurant for a quiet dinner with your loved ones, but if you are a sushi lover – you would definitely appreciate the food and the variety. You get a menu full of excellent and diverse food options and all your order being delivered FRESH from the kitchen to you. That is definitely a great place to go!
