  • My wife and I went for breakfast Saturday morning. Our waitress (Gail) was fast, friendly, with a sick sense of humour (in a good way) and had our orders on the table within 15 mins max.

The food was excellent, sausages were not greasy. Eggs Benedict had plenty of hollandaise sauce. Everything was perfect. And we love city on the patio.

  • Order: Eggs Benedict, Canadian Eye Opener, coffee, water

  • We heard their ad on 820 Cham so we thought we would go there with the kids for breakfast. When we got there the place wasn't that busy so we got a table right away. Our server was very pleasant and asked us what we would like to drink She asked if my daughter would like a book and some crayons. The childrens mlenu had a good choice. My wife had a greek omelette and I had their sausage .I can say the sausage was great and wasn't those little pigs you get at most spots. Our coffee and tea was filled when needed. The waitress checked on us even though it had really got busy.. You could tell that the staff knew a lot of the customers.
My wife said the omelette was good with lots of feta cheese. We will go back again and maybe see the owner to ask about all the pictures on the wall. J.P. and the family..
    .

  • Order: greek omellete, sausage and eggs kid french toast.

  • I thought I'd try this place after a few people told me about the breakfast. Unfortunately my regular breakfast placed closed so I'm on the search for a new one.
As we walked in we weren't greeted and we really didn't know if we should just sit anywhere or wait to be seated, a server walked right passed us and said nothing. We grab a seat check out the small menu and order.
20 minutes go by and we haven't been served, food is coming out of the kitchen and it's going to everyone else.
Finally after 30 minutes the server comes over and says, "Oh the kitchen lost your order, i need to take it again" My look of disgust prompted the waitress to say, "Oh don't worry it will be out right away before anyone else." She didn't seem all that sorry. Well 4 more tables were served before our breakfast came out, our coffee's sat empty for most of this time.( IT WASN'T BUSY)
So after 50 minutes I look down at 3 pieces of very small peameal bacon. ( I believe they claim it to be the best in the city or something) I was not impressed. Barely any potatoes which were supposed to be good and they were, but I needed more.
The waitress didn't bother to fill our waters or do a table check for the food. ( to busy cleaning) At this point i just wanted out of there.
You would think after waiting 50 minutes for a breakfast, in a non busy restaurant would prompt some sort of compensation for their poor service. NOPE, didn't apologize again to try and make it right, didn't even take the coffee's off the bill. If the server handled the situation better, i would have been back to try it again.
My hunt for a good breakfast place is still on....

  • Order: Breakfast special & Peameal bacon and eggs.

  • We have been going out for breakfast for many years and we feel they have the best omelettes
and peameal bacon . We go to several restaurants in the area so we feel we are almost
experts. The girls were great and they recognized us the second time we came in. Our tea and coffee cups were never empty. We will continue to
    go back.

  • Order: omelettes and peameal and eggs

  • I wasn't all that impressed with their breakfast, especiall for the price. I am not all that crazy about having a breakfast with three eggs, but the server said that the eggs were small. Why don't they just serve two large eggs? Oh well! I have had better breakfasts at a cheaper price. What else can I say! I wouldn't go there for breakfast again, unless someone else dragged me.

  • A good place in the East End to grab lunch or a beer after work. Nothing too fancy but some good solid food selections. They also have one of the few patios in the area.

  • Not many people may know it but Rankin's is the most famous restaurant in Hamilton. How come? Because Mr Rankin rode a bull through the place when it was a china shop and made world wide news, including Ripleys Believe it or Not. That was many years ago.
The senior Mr Rankin (now deceased) was an innovator. When Ontario's liquor laws changed to allow American style bar and grills in Ontario Rankins became the first "Roadhouse" type restaurant in Hamilton (and perhaps Ontario). For years every bar in Hamilton had that throw- everything- up- on- the- wall look that Rankin innovated. Many sadly still do.
Rankins has moved past that and is now a beloved local restaurant.
OK, how 'bought the food? Sorry folks, I don't care what others have wrote here. The food is very uneven. Good one time, so-so the next. I ate here for years, so I'm entitled to my opinion big guys.
This place is friendly, clean, and has many loyal followers. But let's face it, it's in the east end of Hamilton.
Where else are you going to go?

  • Food was excellent, home fries were outstanding, not mushed, not burnt, but big pieces of potato. Peameal bacon and eggs were good as well.

Service was excellent and friendly. Very prompt. They were at our table with coffee almost immediately.
