I have been coming to Pagoda for both Dine-In and Take-Out since moving downtown about 5 years ago.
I really enjoy the Dine-In experience, as we're usually seated by the corner window overlooking the King & John intersection which is very nice, especially around dusk.
The service is good, but only because the old lady that works there has served us each and every time for the last several years.
The food is good, but very typical for Canadian-Chinese food. They also have a special Authentic 'Asian' Menu which does not seem appealing to me, but hey.
Would I recommend it? Maybe only if you're a true urbanist who enjoys a lil grit every now-and-then. Not a place to take your mom for mother's day, though!

Food Poisoning!
Ate at this location twice and first time, my stomach was mildly upset for a few hours, didn't think much of it. A few weeks later, I picked up takeout for lunch and within a couple hours, I was violently ill for the next 24 hours. NEVER returning ever again!

I frequent the Pagoda two or three times a year, always for lunch. I usually get the combination plate, which is almost more than I can eat. I love their plum sauce. As far as the decor, well it could use an update, but I don't mind as long as the prices remain as good as they are. It's certainly not the Kings Buffet, or the Mandarin, but it's pretty good in its class.

The duck was delicious and all other food was excellently prepared with abundant portions. Waitress was careing and nice and we were impressed she was even knowledgeable on how food was prepared with ingredients and methods. Best hot and sour soup I've had with the correct ingredients prepared the original style. Definitely would visit and dine again.
